Fellow EfU'ers,
Since April I've enjoyed the comardere and quality storylines the players and mod'ers have created here. Highs and lows and so on made for an engrossing experience.
So engrossing that I've taken my characters too seriously. The events that take place with them have begun to affect me as a person, almost as if they were an extension of my physical being. If this sounds weird, then I would recommend watching the Tom Hanks films "Mazes and Monsters". I feel like Tom's character toward the end of the film.
Lately, my ethics, quality of role-play and overall 'joy' have turned negative. I play loose and fast with little of the creative drive I had when i started. I've become jaded for reasons I really have no clue as to why and I've been what might be considered mean to other members of the community.
Add to that the fact that I feel that I've pushed at least a couple of the DM's buttons and I really just feel pretty low lately.
I've decided that a hiatus for me is what is best. I may come back to the server so I ask that the DM's not delete my characters. I apologize for anyone who was currently working on plots with any of my characters, especially anyone working with Tarnis Westwind.
My thanks go out to all in the community for allowing me to be a part of it for the last 8 months, it has been one of the most memorable things I've -ever- participated in.
Yours in online adventure,
Tony Machin

As a former fanatic, I think I know where you're comming from. You're doing the only sensible thing - Pull the plug.
Get out, get some sun. Find a lil gal with a bag of problems for you to solve.
Then come back, rejuvenated!

Follister Crinklebucket will always consider Tarnis a friend, where ever he may reside. Get some rest and come back.

I have had this happen to me, and yes. This is what you need. Give it 2 maybe 3 weeks of complete cold turkey, socialise and pick some flowers. You'll come back much better

The answer is not taking a break from EfU, but rather, quitting your job/school/life and playing 24 hours a day. Sleep is for the week.

Yes, for the week. The time when the weak are usually doing their work. We can sleep during that. Who cares.
Goodbye, djspectre! Come back if you feel like it!

You tried to call me on a typo, but I meant to do that. The jest lies squarely 'pon thy shoulders.

Some time off is a great idea. You'll be a much better player when you come back, trust me!

Hell ya. Take a bit of time off to collect your creative thoughts for the EfU juice. And remember...the profuse cold sweating, fever, oily discharge, and dry heaving are all common symptoms on the road to recovery. See you when you relapse.
Lol…hope to see you soon.

Thank you all for the wellwishing. I'll see what happens in several weeks.
I have played with so many of the regulars here that it really was unique to see each persons play style.
See you all later.

Yeah you can burn out in any area, even doing things you love.
Theres an old saying that "moderation is for monks"..
Well that is normally infered as a negative inference, but really it's not , theres a lot of wisdom in pacing yourself and not overdosing on what you like. You'll enjoy the moments more. As humans we recognise change more than we do the constants. Sometimes to recognise a good thing you have to step away from it for a while to really appreciate it.
Everyone makes that mistake sometimes and forgets to ease back on the reigns from time to time.

We basically started playing on this server at the same time, and got to explore a great deal of this server together. Watch some football, drink some beer, and break some hearts. Then come back.
