Title: NWN:EE Online Character Creation Issues
Post by: zDark Shadowz on April 28, 2018, 02:47:06 AM
Hi,

Trying to help my sister with getting to play EFU but we've run into a queer issue. On her computer, whenever she tries to create a character, and gets to the end to click to play, it sends her back to the character selection screen instead with no characters visible in the character list to choose from.

Anyone experienced this issue? Couldn't even google what was happening.

I read something slightly similar at one point, about it potentially being issue of permissions.

QUestion first of all:

1. Do you have all efu haks and so on
2. Does she have unique cdkey, and is not sharing it with yourself?

In beamdog forum there was this thread: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/70246/nwn-ee-cannot-create-new-characters

And the guy ended up removing / Documents /Neverwinter Nights folder, and it worked, but not sure if that would cause issues or not since they hold ini files. Maybe it automatically fixes installation and resets those back to default?

This is for all online character creations, it's not specific to EFU.

She has her own CD key, her game bought through her own Steam account.

Resolved, it seems her Bitdefender antivirus had the Documents folder protected from other programs accessing it, including any programs that were set as exceptions >.<

For future reference, the fix was to remove the folder from Bitdefenders' automatically assigned 'Safe Files' list, then to delete the Neverwinter Nights folder (just the folder, not uninstalling the app) and start Neverwinter Nights from the Steam app so they could all read/write correctly.
