If you plan to participate, you should also try to think of  what your character's greatest triumph and greatest failure were, pre-Darkening.

Announcements / Sunday Prelude
September 26, 2018, 09:17:37 PM
I will be running a prelude this Sunday, probably starting around 2000 GMT.

A maximum of one PC will survive, but there is no guarantee of a survivor.

The following restrictions apply to character creation:

Race: Human, half-elf, or elf only
Class: non-druid, non-paladin, non-cleric
Alignment: non-chaotic

If you want to be able to utilize the standard issue equipment for this prelude, medium armor proficiency, shield proficiency, and ability to use a longsword will be necessary.

I really want to clear up bad the air brewing on this thread and show a bit of transparency into how I personally do things around here.

My Current Going Rates:

  • NPC Possession (max 15 min) – 10e (+1e for each minute going over)
  • Concept Advice on Discord (max 1h) -  50e
  • Discussing Server Rules or Gameworld Atmosphere/Lore to a New Player 15e/hour
  • Discussing Server Rules or Gameworld Atmosphere/Lore to a Veteran Player 100e/hour, minimum of 25e charged for any rule breaking requiring conversation of any length
  • PvP Supervision (max 1h) – 35e
  • Personal DM Loot Piece 50e for the first one, with 50e increments for each additional loot piece beyond the first.
  • Public DM Quest (max 3h, max party size 8 ) - 150e
  • Private DM Quest (max 3h, max party size 8 ) – 250e
  • Epic Public DM Quest (min 4 hours, max 12h, max party size 10) – 750e. Additional 25e will be charged for each custom piece of loot provided at the end of the quest.
  • Epic Private DM Quest (min 4 hours, max 12h, max party size 10) – 1000e. Additional 45e will be charged for each custom piece of loot provided at the end of the quest.
  • Meta Plot Quests and Interactions 150e/hour
  • Server Wide Events 100e/hour
  • Other transactions are negotiable case by case.
I believe my hourly rates are quite reasonable compared to what you'd pay for instance when visiting a medical doctor. Becoming an EfU Dungeon Master has indeed taken years of studying, training and mentally preparing for the profession – it is a workplace that constantly requires one to follow the change of tides in the practice and keep up with the new, cutting edge technology.

My blacklist of players to whom I will under no circumstances run anything is quite short (You know who you are) so don't feel afraid to contact me and we can work something out.

About transactions?

As long as the agreed sum appears on my paypal account no later than one (1) week after the delivered content, I consider it successfully handled. If you make a transaction in other currency than Euros, make sure that the amount is within 1% of the current exchange rate on https://www.xe.com/ on the day that the money shows on my account.

It is your responsibility to make sure the sum matches the agreed on the day of exchange. Failure to deposit the agreed sum in timely manner will result in 20% delay fee based on the total sum on top of the missing amount. There will be no refunds of any kind under any circumstances.

I didn't see any mention of a rate for ghost DMing.  I haven't been around for a couple months, unfortunately, and I'd really appreciate if we could work out an arrangement that gives the illusion I'm still active.  My blacklist currently includes everyone, but you could just use yours, and I doubt anyone would be the wiser.  Hit me up on Discord.

When a group of criminals were captured and sentenced to play orcs in a re-enactment of Red Eleint at the Old Port Arena clad only in loincloths, charging at a group of fully armed and armored PCs playing the part of the heroic Stygians cutting down the orcish horde.

Rumors abound of a pack of bloodthirsty elves cutting down "impudent monkeys" in Freedom Square.  Ordinary humanfolk are quite upset ... at least the kinds given to believe such rumors.  Others say that they support their pointy-eared neighbors, who are certainly much better than the kind of filth that this band has been cleaning up.  For a time, blood stains the space between the House of Knowledge and the Grotto.  Some folk don't like the Spellguard trying to interfere with the Council.  Others dislike a Council reaching for increased power to enforce its will when so many owe their lives to the Spellguard's rescue portals.

Bug Reports / Exigent Thought Bug Fixes
January 09, 2018, 08:37:11 AM

A few bugs have been fixed in Exigent Thought.  There are likely still some remaining, and possibly one or two new ones introduced.

If you find the new version of the quest, send me a PM with feedback on anything that doesn't work.  Don't send feedback with suggestions for making the quest easier or more rewarding or adding new sections.

Also, there is a portion of this quest that, it has been brought to my attention, has been bypassed by many groups.  This behavior may be a misconception because of an early beta test of the quest in which I encouraged a group to move on when it became clear I had missed the mark with certain parameters.  The challenge of this portion is now tough, but manageable for a typical group of PCs.  Anyone caught bypassing the content just because it's difficult will be eligible for a 5,000 XP deduction.

Killing the boss should appropriately allow quest completion as of next reset.  A few adjustments have also been made to the rewards.  I've also slipped in a few minor tweaks to some other quests, which can be discovered in-game.

 ::[ Hammer 23rd : Year 164 : 1386 DR ]::

Rumor quickly spreads of a breach in containment.  Following a Spellguard sending for citizens to remain calm, a squadron of elite personnel in Watcher and Warder colors stormed through the Housing Vaults.  Within half an hour, all that was left of the aberrant threat detected by Sanctuary's Epsilon Squadron was a smoking pile of ash.  The residents of the Housing Vaults are more fearful than ever, and it's unclear whether the threat of thralls or the threat of being wrongfully incinerated is worse.

In other news, some witnesses say that Brett Janowski was murdered by Brett Janowski and several others in Freedom Square.  Others say it was some kind of tentacle-mimic freak.  The amount of incendiaries Scrap-Hero Edward Velosia employed during and after the incident left little evidence to confirm either way.
