Just noticed that virtue, being a cantrip, can be spammed and you keep getting +1 HP.  It still only lasts one turn a level but someone could spam it for how many extra HP they want for a good chunk of time and for example slam into a dispensary with a ton of extra HP!

Suggestions / Ticker Square Overhaul
February 29, 2020, 08:14:24 PM
Hey guys, so I don't know if I'm the only one but I find Ticker Square as it is right now a very dull place that I think pushes away a lot of potential with a very large fee for what is, in the end, not exactly a huge boon for 20k. I think what Ticker Square needs is a dynamic system in place that encourages progression and rising up the chain of Ticker Square's trifling merchants and politics. If anyone wants to suggest or comment on something, go right ahead! Let's shoot some ideas to make Ticker Square great again. My only suggestion right now is this;

That Ticker Square have three stages of assimilation and influence in the town.

1. Guild Protection Papers
Having Guild Protection Papers makes you a local and a resident of the town- you have the right to protection and the right to trade in the Square. You are not considered a citizen (much like you are not considered a proper Peer until you achieve nobility or some sort of proper status).

2. Ticker Square Citizenship Papers
These would cost between 8,000 and 12,000 groats. It would grant you the right to own land/property in Ticker Square (claim the strongholds), but not the right to vote in the guild hall or any of the boons a guildmember would have. You are considered a rightful citizen of Ticker Square.

3. Guild Membership Papers
As they already are, these cost 20,000. It would grant you the right to both own and tax land/property in Ticker Square (if you have the followers to enforce that!). You are also the de-facto members of the Lower House/the Lower Trade Council, an entirely player-led council that has the say on trade taxes, property taxes and a proper vote in the Guild House. From amongst the council (the entire list of PCs who have guild membership), a vote can be called every month to appoint a First Citizen or some sort of First Magistrate (sort of like the Ponds moot, entirely player organized). This would make guild members interact with each other more, and have to interact with more of the population. It is an idea that the citizens could also vote for the First Magistrate/Citizen, but that might be too many players at once? But it could be fun! The First Magistrate's duties would be more formality than anything; to announce any passed motions of the council and to arrange civil events such as festivities, etc, market days. This would give Ticker Square players more influence and control over Ticker politics. The Peerage has its Banner and influential Banner House, I think Ticker Square needs some form of this order.

That's all I can think of right now. I think the biggest thing is guild members need more avenues of affecting their surroundings that is beyond just their imagination. Ticker Square needs to feel more like a thriving and bustling market town, and needs more aspects of the liberties and light republican vibes it's heeded for. Anyone have any other ideas?

Sonic is considered energy in DND, and in NWN, elemental protection resists it. Would it be possible to create a potion similar to crimson brews that protect against negative energy but instead protecting against sonic damage, and remove its resistance from insulation and such?

Courteous Kurt's Band of Brothers

Favoured Alignment: Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral
Favoured Races: Any
Favoured Classes: Any (Barring Paladin and Druid)

Kurt's Band of Brothers is intended to be a lowkey group of companions who are in it for brotherhood and not coin, though everyone loves coin. We do what we think is right and we have no true care for order. The embodiment of the Robin Hood classic, I am playing a Chaotic Neutral Bard and really I'm just looking for others who would like to join me on my adventures in the City of Rings and make LEGENDS of ourselves so I can write songs and sing about us and exaggerate ourselves as not the simple fellows we truly are.

With so many concepts about politics and grand plots, I figured there might be a couple of casual players who would like to get together and play more earnestly, and if it succeeds in gathering a following of at least four people, then we can probably think about taking ringrunning seriously or anything like that at our own pace! I don't have any grand plans yet, but I am entirely open to what the adventure brings. EFU is very unpredictable and nothing is as it seems. If anyone is interested, lemme know! Or you can find me in-game as Kurt Riverdyne.

My play times are very active in the EST timezone.

You are hereby invited to join the Order of the Burgundy Rose. The heart of Velstran scandal, and perhaps Peerage scandal. A place for heretics, alchemists, revelers, pagans, lovers of art, of time-keeping, of anything bizarre; drugs, alcohol, gossip.

You will fit in if you are CHAOTIC NEUTRAL, CHAOTIC GOOD, NEUTRAL EVIL, LAWFUL EVIL, LAWFUL NEUTRAL, and yes, even CHAOTIC EVIL would probably find a place here. Anything chaotic and rebellious against the standards and foundations of the Peerage.

You will especially fit in if your PC is a worshipper of either PZATHARUN or PHANAX. Druids sliding their way into the Order would be welcomed, but are not openly accepted. The Order is hostile against the Cult of the Hidden One, to which they believe to be defacing the true and noble nature of Pzatharun with changeling magick and deception, from his truer self as Master of the Arts and Patron of Beauty.

Earn membership in-game by PMing me on the forums addressed to Jaspar, messaging me on Discord at thesacredwater, or finding Jasper Winespill in-game and inquiring. The goal of this group is to create a scandalous club in the Peerage that focuses heavily on revelry and out of body experiences, experimenting with drugs, alchemy, rituals, parties, gossip and chaotic outbursts and just generally challenging the status quo of the Peerage and working alongside Jaspar's more personal goal of amassing wealth and trying to bring a prosperous renaissance of knowledge and enlightenment/tolerance to the Peerage.

The Sfoldcloaks have just awoken within the City of Rings. A merchant family from the Sea of Fallen Stars region, they are a bold and calculating group with a ruthless, Machiavellian take on business and power. Run by a mixed cadre of ambition, humility, 'to be good you must do some bad' mentality, I'm looking to get started on this tomorrow. I've made my PC, Piero Sfoldcloak. I am looking for players looking to possibly play a major role in the face of the family and make a lasting impact on the world, and make it a vision of several people, not just one. This is a group for people who would like to play as a member of a rising family, not a servant. I would like to grow that aspect of it in-game.

Recommended Alignment: Any but Lawful  or Neutral Good, but any alignment will find purpose
Recommended Class: Any non-druid, non-paladin
Recommended Race: Any

Looking for someone to play (as a main PC, not an alt) Piero's two brothers, who you will have full creative liberty on deciding anything to do with the characters. The only thing I'd enforce of course is that they are his brothers, either full or half (even a half-orc brother would be very cool and create a neat dynamic in the family, the scorned orcblood bastard brother who seeks to gain his place in the family). They are roughly around the same age and though memories are foggy, come from a family that was once very proud and rich but has fallen on very tough times. They seek to rise once more.

That is all I really ask for right now, unless anyone else is interested in joining up from the get go! Everything else will be built from the ground up and we'll see where it goes. Very spontaneous experience that I hope will bring both the Peerage and Ticker Square alive with some more player initiative.

My discord in the EFU chat is Leore. Message me there and I'll get back to you sooner! Let me know if you have any questions or if you're interested and we can do this. :)

For a general idea of what we would be doing as a family, and ideas for concepts:

A family scheming to gain membership and in the far-fetched future, a guild master position within Ticker Square. Machiavellian-esque plotting and power trips. Thuggery, crime, family affairs, political affairs.

Diplomacy with the Peerage. Finding a way to expand business and create a monopoly of something. Do business with the Adamantine Vault.

I dont want to spoil anything so I won't go any further into it, but just so you get the idea of what we'd be trying to do. The main point though is to give Ring Ninety-Nine a sort of mercantile villain faction trying to ruthlessly gain power and wealth. Employing ringrunners would be a big thing so they don't have to do it themselves.

Examples of concepts that would blend swimmingly with this;
A family member with their own agenda, whatever that means. I have to stress that the reason I want some family member PCs that aren't alts is because I do not want my PC alone to be the face of the family. I want things to be out of my control- I want us to have a very cool and wish-washy reputation because of its members, whether it ends up being good or bad. I want the family to be talked about not because of just my PC, but because of several PCs who are the face of the family and basically doing the classic 'father is dead, let's see how we can fuck his legacy'.

A henchman loyal to the family, who served their father. A father-figure who is looking out for them and tries his/her best to advise them on their approach and family affairs.

A childhood best friend of one of the brothers.

A cleric of some mercantile-esque god (Commercia, Tymora, Phanax, made up god) spreading his faith to the family and the city.

A merchant seeking union to better sale his wares.

Many more! Anything would work, really. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you guys in-game soon as Piero regardless whipping up some shenanigans.

With the return of Ciriaco, a man Harren never met but heard much of, there was only one bold thing to do, as Harren was prone to. My entire inspiration behind him was a political force that strengthened the characters of others through a firebrand rhetoric and a lot of fictional storytelling that he came up with on the fly. A very stalwart faithful of Pzatharun, Harren spent the first seven days of his life in the city following his whispers. This brought him to life in the Ponds, where he began holding sermons and telling stories of 'His' reckoning (https://www.efupw.com/forums/index.php?topic=694108.0).

The God he followed was soon named. After coronating the Rat Queen as the Godsblood and Queen of Benevolence, he considered himself worthy of uttering Pzatharun's name finally. The Godsblood was a term he coined to identify any PC or NPC with strange or changeling features. Examples were Verata Bosque, the very first 'Godsblood' he ran into in the city, and Ahsra Ashworthy, the Rat Queen, Pzatharun's champion anointed by Harren himself.

Along the way, Harren made a good number of short-term and long-term enemies. He made an enemy of Aunrae the Feral during his short-lived and treacherous tenure with the Colony of Phelansburg as its First Colonist. During a moot he rallied in hopes of clamoring support for the colony, he was struck down by her in a rage. The next day, he called her out and challenged her to a duel to end his nickname the False Prophet. He lost, of course, but what occured that day...was glorious. Pzatharun himself made his presence known, and blessed Aunrae in her victory. The sky was thunderous, and the showing inspired the Pondfolk to rise up and oust Elrich Khaum from the Sunpurse Manor.

He was to hang in Ring 98 for all to see. His last words halted by the choking of the noose around his neck. He was ended by a sword in his chest, delivered by the Inquisitor. Will this make him a martyr, or will his name be forgotten in the annals? The Pond stirs. And his Queen...

His Queen mourns.

(More screenshots to come as I gather them and organize them all! Thank you to everyone who made RPing in the Ponds a ton of fun. Special thanks to the Rat Queen for giving my character much more leeway and freedom in his religion, and I hope his legacy turns your PC to a great path! He watches. I hope you enjoyed him. He was supposed to be a much more mad and fiery preacher, but I did my best and he ended up being just slightly more diplomatic and wise)

THE GODSBLOOD PACT

A fiery sermon was held within the heart of the Ponds by Harren Sternpond, a faithful of 'He Who Watches'. Speaking true of the self-proclaimed discommandments, Sternpond spoke profusely of the Sixth, the Godsblood- the truest daughter of He whose name we utter not. The Queen of the Canals, or the 'Rat Queen' as others call her, was in attendance. Finding rebuke by the suspected Godsblood of others, such as Verata the Cloven, Sternpond was certain the Rat Queen was the truest incarnation of His flesh and blood. She was newly coronated the Queen of Benevolence, destined to rule over Ninety-Nine.

The Godsblood Pact, led by the firebrand priest Harren Sternpond, is the company of those who have sworn to serve the Queen of Benevolence, and in return, He Who Watches. A plot full of purpose that all those involved will find engaging to participate. Centered mostly within the Ponds.

The goals of the Godsblood should both be centred around loyalty to the Rat Queen and the goal of the sixth discommandment (seeing the daughter of Him onto a throne) and also upon themselves for whatever selfish or dutiful reasons they have for seeing change in Ninety-Nine or benefits to themselves. The ultimate goal of the pact is to see the Rat Queen sitting a throne of Ninety-Nine. Very long-term. For the purpose of communication, I will say that 'He' is Pzathuran. I've been trying to find an interesting and unique way of introducing him into the city and to other players in a sort of manipulative, secretive way to explain his lack of presence.

Recommended Alignments: Chaotic Neutral, Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evil and Neutral Evil.
Recommended Classes: Any (Except Paladin)
Recommended Races: Any (Monstrous races especially allowed, this being a Ponds concept)

See you in-game! To join, find Harren Sternpond or the Rat Queen in-game to swear yourselves to her crown. For new concepts, send me a PM on discord (Gull) or on the forums and we can work something out!

Suggestions / Make coins affect encumberance
May 20, 2019, 04:06:53 AM
As in some DnD rules with encumberance, and to encourage PCs using banks and not carrying around thousands of groats on them, I suggest making coins weigh something. Like 50 gold = 1lb or something like that.
