Even out skill points

So, one nasty side effect of the old subrace system was that Int modifiers never effected skill points per level. The obvious plus to the current system is that it does, since the Int score is actually altered, not just given a bonus.

However, there is still one small problem with the system. At level 1, every two points of Int grants the character an extra 4 skill points to allocate. Likewise, a negative int modifier subtracts 4 potential skill points.

So, what I'm wondering, just to make the system fit more with the rules, if the following would be possible.

Example:
Player creates new Sun Elf character, assigns his skill points as allowed at character creation. Upon entering the OOC startup area, a script runs and applies his Int bonus. It then unassigns all skill points presently assigned and reallocates the appropriate number based on his new int bonus, the class chosen at level one, etc, etc.

The character can then, upon levelling to level 2, reallocate all of said skill points, plus those he gains at level 2. Thus, the character has all the skill points that he should.

The same could be done for negative int modifiers as well (wild elves, for example). In this way, a subrace character with an Int penalty does not have more skill points than he should.

That's an awful lot of work for four skill points.

FleetingHeart

Maybe. But wasn't it an awful lot of work for 2 int, as well?

Snoteye

I didn't do it for the 2 Int, though. That was just a bonus.

Possible solution: Increase the Intelligence of the character by 8 in the character creation area. Allow it to level up, getting 4 extra skill points. Remove the extra 8 Int before the character enters the world.
