Announcements / One faction falls, another rises.
October 05, 2010, 05:52:30 AM
First, the bad news.  The Pallid Mask no longer exists as a DM faction.  While NPCs of the faction still exist, there is no faction base, storage, or overall support.  Exceptional Undead Hunting concepts may be noticed by them nevertheless, so fear not!

The Numinous Order is a returning DM faction, and are known as a group of mysterious knights with themes such as heresy and mysticism.  Most PCs would know that they worship the Triad, but call them 'The Three' instead.  After the recent battle between the Dominion and the Order, the Order was granted a fief, and their Commander, Agravain Blackhearth, was restored to the peerage by the Count.  All members of the Numinous Order are considered honorary Old Port Citizens, and have all the rights and privileges of any citizen of the Dominion.

While I am not inclined to disclose the new direction the Order will be taken in full, it is not the same as the previous Numinous Order.  Law and Order 'Watch' type concepts that simply seek to defend Blackhearth's lands and the Dominion are heavily discouraged.  Instead we are looking more for concepts that are tied into the general themes of mysticism and heresy.

With that in mind, here is the general faction overview.

The Numinous Order

General faction alignment:  TN(With Lawful Tendencies).

However, nearly every alignment of a PC can find a place in the Order, with the right concept.

Permitted classes: All but Druid.

Wizard, Sorceror, and Paladin concepts will be more difficult to pass than others and will be under intense scrutiny.

Deities: Tyr, Helm, Ilmater, and Torm are all permissable deities.  The exact theology behind the Order's take on each is best discovered in game.

Permitted Races:  Human and Half-Elf.  The Order will accept no demi-humans into their ranks.

Ranks
: Hierarchy is Templar, Knight-Templar, Commander, and Grandmaster, in that order.

Faction DMs: Alyssara, Iron_Oligarch, DangerousDan.

Feel free to ask general questions of me in mIRC if you need aid with your application!

Announcements / Hi!

Hopefully I won't make a mess of things.

Hopefully I -will- make a mess of things.

See you all in game!

This item property absolutely does not work.

After testing it, the spell immunity mitigates neither the damage nor the paralyze.

Is there any way for this to be fixed?

If not, then this item property likely needs to be changed off certain items in the module.

Bug Reports / Alcohol- An oddity!
March 31, 2010, 07:28:14 AM
All the alcoholic drinks in the module seem to take spellcraft saves into account with the save.

Just thought its strange that a skinny wizard might beat a beefy Barbarian in a drinking contest due to this.

Suggestions / Summons: Improved Caster Level?
December 22, 2009, 05:52:05 AM
Earlier, after a rather intense PvP match, I was told by multiple people that all summons are summoned at caster level of 0, thus making them incredibly easy to dispel, which explained an oddity during the match.

Given that this makes the improved summoning reagents next to worthless against anything that can dispel, I would suggest one of the following.

1.  Improved Caster Level on the reagents so the summons are not so easily dispelled.(Perhaps even as a perk for those with Spell Focus Conjuration or GSF: Conjuration, if it can't be done for everyone.)
2.  Making it so that the summon must be dispelled directly, rather than the spellcaster, in order to have a chance at dispelling it.
3.  Making the summoning reagents have multiple uses, or so that they only have a small chance of being consumed with the spell.

Bug Reports / Conclave Portal
December 06, 2009, 01:53:50 AM
As of the latest build the Conclave portal is a one way transition from the Enclave down to the Colony.  The portal that leads up to the Conclave from the Colony is busted unless a DM is there to place a new transition.

Suggestions / Duergar Quest Part Deux: Traps.
October 18, 2009, 01:15:02 AM
Remove the Deadly Blob of Acid Traps.  DC 25 reflex save traps for 70 damage where you don't even halve the damage if you make the save, only paralysis is ridiculous.(Instantly killed with even Protection from Elements up.)

If you want to increase the difficulty, make it on the quantity of the creatures, environmental design for less AI oddities, or difficulty of the creatures themselves.

Suggestions / Shadow Conjuration, Summon Shadow.
October 15, 2009, 02:05:17 AM
For a Level 4 summon, this is incredibly weak.  I realize its a permanent summon, so it shouldn't be as strong as a normal Level 4 Summon, but the spell has very little use as is except for roleplaying purposes.

The Shadow has 19 HP, and only +1 AB, but some DR, which puts it between a Level 1 and 2 summon Undead wise.  I am rather certain it upgrades to a Shadow Mastiff at level 8-10, but at level 7 its almost entirely worthless.

A slight upgrade to AB, and HP would probably serve it very well.

Bug Reports / Wizardry Tome Quest, multiple bugs.
October 13, 2009, 06:21:11 AM
The quest doesn't go into your quest logs when you activate it.  The quest tool which you do get starts dialogue in Kingsman's for renting private rooms.

Still attempting to try anyhow(On two out of three of the items the quest requires), the items couldn't be picked up, likely due to the quest log issues.

Quest says max level of 7, when the max level is truly 6 which can mislead a lot of PCs into trying it too late and being locked out.

Thus, its not completable at all right now!  I hope that attempting to try it anyhow doesn't flag the PC for having made their one attempt already.

Bug Reports / Hunting Spiders.

Spawn in stealth, but don't attack anything, even once attacked they remain passive until they're dead.  Even saw NPCs attacking one like this.

Gabrielus Dimeneira is dead.

Unfortunately I only have a single screenshot to share of her since I figured out what was wrong with my screenshot function after she died.

So here it is: http://img190.imageshack.us/i/escapedfromunderda0001r.gif/

My apologies to Talir for showing off her ruining some insane Ghoul Lord he cooked up for us to fight.

Due to this, if anyone else has some screenshots of Gab, I'd appreciate them being posted!

Now a few fun facts about Gab.

She was born an Aasimar of Tyr.  Went through more than half of her life faithless, actually spending that time doing odd jobs as a bar wench, maid and the like, before she converted to Kelemvor.

She banished five PC Nightrisers and two NPCs, including one Lieutenant of H'bala. (And hundreds of other nameless NPC Nightrisers, which aren't counted.)

Was suprised by the amazing lack of persecution of her for her blood, once she reached the Colony.  Only about five PCs ever have roleplayed the slightest amount of distaste for her.

Was appointed to Patrician status by the Patrician Council and the Governor.

Was arrested for exactly six crimes, but the charges each time were dropped.  Her record remained clean at her death.

Beat up the head of her Order while under the influence of a cursed helm(Unfortunately I do not have a screenshot of this.)

Banished one minor Demon Lord(The Dwarf Flayer), converted a Baatezu Lord into a Crusading Angel of Tyr through an Infernal contract, and unsealed a major Devil Lord so that it might be destroyed.  Unfortunately that didn't go as planned, so she sacrificed herself to see that it didn't enter Ymph through a portal it had set up.

Reached level 9 with ECL +1 as her final level, and ended her career as a minor Celestial servant of Kelemvor as a warden of the false and shepherding in all souls for judgement.

Wish I had more screenshots to share, but I'm apparently a ditz and didn't figure out the problem until today!  Thanks to all who made Gab a fun character to play.

Suggestions / Suggestion for Storm/Air Domain.
September 18, 2009, 07:16:12 AM
Add Great Thunderclap to the list of Storm and/or Air Domain as a 4th or 5th level spell.

Its considered a joke of a spell as a 7th level spell in most cases, but given its effects it seems perfectly balanced as a 4th or 5th level spell which would fit the domain well.

It could also fit well on the Druid spell lists.

Suggestions / Remove Paralysis/Potion of Liberty.
August 14, 2009, 01:55:38 AM
I would suggest that Remove Paralysis/Potion of Liberty work as an AoE spell.

Currently the spell does not seem to work when cast upon others, the potion definitely does not work AoE, and the potion cannot be used(Of course), while paralyzed.

That makes Potions of Liberty quite useless, and even the spell to be just as useless since it does not seem to work when cast upon others.

To everyone out there looking for a new concept, I would ask you to consider the Disciples of the Pallid Mask.

It is a primarily Lawful, Primarily Good faction comprised mainly of followers of Jergal, Kelemvor, Lathander, and Amaunator that is dedicated towards ending all forms of Undeath.  Don't let that discourage you from trying to get in with any other type of deity! Be creative!

Its precepts are based somewhat on a canon Forgotten Realms order of Jergal followers known as the Companions of the Pallid Mask who hunt down the Undead that are not sanctioned by the church of Jergal, but with a slightly more Crusader bent in that it seeks to eliminate all forms of Undeath. We also perform the standard Mausoleum duties, and seek to immortalize the heroes of the Ziggurat so that they will be remembered.

It is currently a minor faction, and just entering the political arena of the Ziggurat, so if you would like to join a faction that is just starting to make an impact on the server, this would be a good oppurtunity.

However, the faction is not for everyone.  A very mature attitude towards PvP is required, since PvP happens very often in this faction.  You will be required to actively fight the PC Nightriser faction to the best of your ability, and thus you should always strive to make it fun for them by having the deaths of these PCs have some sort of meaning in the advancement of server storyline, if in fact you do manage to win the PvP!

Now for the fun part that I know all of you are looking to see.  The lewtz. This faction receives rewards from the disposal of Necromantic items and for the banishment of Nightriser PCs in the form of ranks up in the faction and Weapon upgrades.  While I don't want to spoil what these rewards are, they are great items which help out a great deal when fighting both PC and NPC Undead.

Clerics, Paladins, and Monks will likely have the easiest time being accepted into the faction but any class would likely be acceptable in this faction except druids, given that the faction takes permanent residence in the city.

The Lessons of the Crown Wars: Its history, and its connection to Isle Ymph

Written by: Ilyra Iliathor

Foreword: An Introduction.

If you speak to any of the Tel’Quessir, the mere mention of the Crown Wars will evoke a variety of different reactions.  Many consider this long and terrible epoch of conflict amongst the People to be a taboo subject that should not be discussed.  Some would seek to forget the lessons which were learned through titanic Art, and torrents of blood shed by steel.  To others, this period of history should never be forgotten, and need be shared with all; in light of the discovery of the Ilythiiri ruins upon Isle Ymph.

Bug Reports / Rest Timer Bugs.
September 29, 2008, 11:45:53 PM
As of late, this has often occurs.  After a substantial amount of time between rests, the rest timer displays as five or six hours left before your next rest period.

The timer does not count down at all, but after the RL timer expires, you finally can rest.

Its more an annoyance than anything, not being able to have a good judge of time until you can rest.

Suggestions / Time Function.
September 11, 2008, 08:46:10 PM
I like the new rotating day and night, and I'm actually a fan of the length of time, I was just wondering if a function could be added in game to actually tell us a general idea of how long each cycle will last.  We had a few incidents with Nightrisers today as we were inside an area, and could not tell the actual time of day.

Bug Reports / Hobgoblin Rafter.
September 09, 2008, 02:27:21 AM
The Hobgoblin Rafter, when paid to go to any location, takes the fee.  The NPC and the boat disappears, and your PC is left frozen in place in the same area that you're standing in before.

You still get a message that it arrived at the target location a few minutes later, but you're still frozen in place.
