Animate Dead on item uses summoning pool

When I use the animate dead spell that is on a piece of DM loot I was given, it hits me with this message and despawns the creature. I was told this is a bug by Pigadig and might be fixable?

If I was to guess, the item is casting like a scroll/caster rather than like an item. If its not happening with other drops then its probably that item specifically that needs to be altered.

I had this same problem from a random pickup 2 use skull item as well. Damned if I can remember the name of the item though.
