Bug Reports / Re: Dual-Wielder perk

hi there

I've also noticed that when receiving weapon buffs from another player (magic weapon, flame weapon, etc.), it isn't copied to my off-hand weapon.

Quote from: EFU WikiDual-Wield & Two-Weapon Fighting - The effects of Magic Weapon, Flame Weapon, Darkfire, Poison and Alchemist's Fire duplicated to off-hand weapon when cast on your main weapon.

General Discussion / Re: Looting: How do you do it?

like in all things in EFU just do what your character would do with a little ooc courtesy if its reciprocated but dont sacrifice your roleplay

otherwise it could feel like we play on wow rp lite server by how boringly OOC and mundane/meaningless and 'social' things become under the guise of casual RP

paladins might take a vow of amnesty or some shit while bandits are more likely to take significantly and leave you (and for some players your PC) angry at the outcome, but remember that fear and fear of death is a natural reaction in sane beings

I would imagine most of your characters would have some sense of dread but also count their blessings when they come out alive in a bandit situation instead of banking on OOC solutions like first encounter FD protection or OOC DM intervention

great character. i never met him cuz i don't play much but seeing that he died hopefully by player conflict means he probably did something right and didn't outlast his interesting moments like a lot of PCs

keep up the good fight brother

General Discussion / Re: V5 Feedback Thread

imo:

Exile / Covenant / WaW conflict was often stale because the conflict was often seemed to be about their competing existences (grr thralls grr rebels grr cops) and dragged out forever as opposed to competing agendas / storylines with goals that have tangible in game consequences / changes set within a reasonable timeframe.

Right now, the server doesn't feel as fleshed out as it should be, which is understandable as both players and DMs are trying to find a foothold in the new setting. With the closed status of applications and relatively untouchable NPCs of consequence, important aspects of the server are just inaccessible by players and player influence doesn't seem very valuable in a story telling sense yet, as the player conflict that I have observed often seems like a game of king of the hill and, while at times it is fun and interesting, does not hold much significance outside of itself.

What I would like to see is a game world that is encouraging and rewarding of conflict that make use of the setting and adds stakes for winning and losing to each side that focuses on building up a larger arc. For a vague example, the Rings are a great obstacle to overcome and success in ringrunning is an easily accessible and tangible  metric to incorporate into the success in the completion of competing faction agendas and goals. Incentive for diverse groups to find themselves in the same place for the same goal but with different reasons is a natural conflict.

Obviously you don't want to dump 100 useless unique objects into the loot tables with tags saying they're useful and valuable though stuff like that on a smaller scale I can look back on favorably.

Bug Reports / Glyph of Warding
February 19, 2019, 09:47:58 PM
This spell currently doesn't do anything-

when cast on hostile or non-hostile creatures including self, no VFX and no damage are observed

when cast on area without creatures, glyph VFX are observed until creature moves into area including self and then glyph VFX fade without any explosion VFX

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Herman was here
November 22, 2017, 01:38:45 AM
[hide=the drawing board]10:51 PM general premise i got so far is of an old greybeard soldier type guy (possibly ilmateri fighter) whose previous experiences include his moral compass leading him to place bad consequences on himself and worse on those around him. possibl thinking of apping to be LN aasimar with it to heighten the gravity of distancing himself from innate morality and choosing human brashness over objective good as a sort of ends justifies means
10:51 PM method. goal to champion the choices of other exiles and others who embrace aberrant methods as they are truly sacrificing etc. in line with ilmater philosophy
10:51 PM i like that a lot
10:52 PM though i would do it without the aasimar
10:52 PM sure[/hide]

[hide=bio]This is the story of Herman Amar.

Herman grew up the son of a Tethyrean farming family. Looking for a life of more, he signed with a mercenary company and went on many missions and jobs that were often met with success. As time passed on, his knowledge and expertise grew to find himself guiding the company's actions by power of his wit, foresight, and strong moral compass. After a time, Herman and his associates (who were good and dependable men) were often held in high esteem and sometimes regarded as heroes by government officials and the common populace.

This went on for many years until around Herman's 40th birthday.

One fateful day, Herman and his company were had. They had accepted a contract from clergymen of the various Triad faiths. For reasons that Herman could only speculate on, this contract had been a set-up. Herman, his company, and the few priests acting as guides were captured and sold off as slaves to different buyers. Herman was forced to become a gladiator of sorts in the city underworld, where his reputation was infamy and his state of petty servitude was the source of his entertainment value.

Somewhere in these dark pits, Herman found the strength to maintain his sense of self. An Ilmateri priest, sold cheap to the same bidder as Herman, had died serving as a punching bag to a drugged-up bodyguard. While the man had physically crumbled, his spirit was never broken, held together by faith. Herman managed to get himself a crusty book that the late priest had found and used to transcribe some rote prayers and improvised verses.

Herman realized that he was suffering. He was suffering in a holy way, according to this book. Herman knew he had been betrayed. He had lived life according to goodly values and principles based on trust and community, and in the end he paid a heavy price for it. Not just for him, but for everyone who depended on him. He is bitter about this. For Herman, black and white morality became more grey and ambiguous. His struggles both internal and external began to fuel his appreciation for those who could withstand the pain, sacrifice up to the last drop, and become truly holy in the face of injustice and adversity.

At last, Herman's freedom came with another cost: the loss of the world, and the nearly-assured destruction of everything he held dear. Now, the rest of Herman's story remains unwritten.[/hide]

i believe it's been said that players are justified in leaving a quest when a dm becomes involved for one reason or another at their discretion

-add a placeable transition or rope/grapple zones to rot hive where sometimes the static transition traps bug out after 1 trigger. bug not unique to the quest but reliance on trap to progress is.

-transition to progress after turning right in the battle of exigent is broken

adjust some loot tables / frequency of placeables to appropriate risk/reward/flavor levels
-driders quest is probably the biggest offender in my mind with relatively useless loot for pursuing the deadly optional challenge
-hook horror nest in reaches and that skittering hollows 2-5 quest in the narrows could drop some decent / appropriate starting supplies

-add more gnoll npc variety (bard/shaman/heroes for large higher lvl groups) to the gnolls instance in the mines quest
-add instances where the other areas of the mines quest pop up in the module such as Hidden Pond further reaches etc.

beyond adding new quests i'd suggest looking at current quests and looking to adjust / add more types of spawns and opportunities to use efuss skills or other less utilized skills to reward players with extra loot or pathways in them
