It was a blast playing  Frobo. He began extremely generic, created just to play with my RL brother (who played Cade Highhill), but was shaped into so much more with the help of the friends and enemies he made along the way. Honestly,  it was  an emotional rollercoaster (in a good way!) playing Frobo, and every time he lost a friend along the way, I was actually a little heartbroken myself during the funerals. Thank you to everyone he interacted with and also thank you to those who appreciated this character! Your kudos mean a lot to me. Great job, all!

Now... To the screenshots. He had no custom loot so there's nothing interesting to show there.

His stats without items. Saves were his forte.

Now his screenshots in chronological order:

Frobo witnesses his first duello in this strange new place in which he has awakened.

He witnessed William Powell and Artegal Haremarch give themselves over to the Fey in exchange for bountiful crops during the coming Winter, and the ensuing battle against the Retainers.

Enjoying a rare moment of quiet out by the Ponds.

Frobo witnesses a strange changeling ritual, and is nearly consumed by an incomprehensible entity.

He partook in the failed defense of the Steadings against House Ghyll.

Say my name!

He saw the Changeling attack on the Peerage, but did not partake in it's defense this time.

The Fellowship of the Cornucopia scolds Muningo for his maniacal behavior, with Emmet having assumed responsibility over the increasingly Fey crazed halfling.

Halfling Power!

Frobo and Emmet desecrates a hidden goblin shrine, destroying it, causing absolute chaos and an outbreak of goblin herpes! This is when Gorneval first became a rival, after being refused  Goblin Fertility Idols that the halflings were intent on destroying.

As an apology for the goblin herpes outbreak, The Fellowship of the Cornucopia set out a banquet in Little Ticker. Turns out Muningo had poisoned the food and drinks! Thankfully, all of the items had mysteriously disappeared when Frobo went to make a sending about it.

The last time the Fellowship of the Cornucopia marched together... Boy, did they look good as a group.

Thanks in great part to Frobo's hubris, their party is defeated on a quest by Sibilants out in the Swamps. Cade gives himself over in order to save his friends, being tortured, executed and turned into small sized Sibilant. There might have been hope to save him, but Matteo Giovanni was among the rescue party, and he decided to kill lizard Cade while everyone else was busy with the Warlord instead. This  began the story between the two.

A touching funeral is held for Cade Highhill. One of Giovanni's Retainers happens upon it and makes an ignorant remark about the remains, which Malcolm reacts to by punching him in the face. This prompts a duel between the two. Malcolm faced defeat against Jakoby, and Frobo interfered in an attempt to keep his friend from being slain. He is promptly beat down and fined over three thousand groats by Matteo Giovanni, which only further cements his contempt for the man.

Frobo gets a little giddy when he meets female halflings.

He helped secure the Count's Drill for the second time.

With the Fellowship of the Cornucopia gone, Frobo continues his quest for the search for the Portal to the Green Fields, and so he attempts to join a fledgling Ringrunning group. Alas, it was not meant to be. Shortly after he becomes embroiled in the conflict with Giovanni's Men and the Harvesters.

He witnesses Gorneval publically confessing who he really  served and exposes his him over the sendings. This eventualy prompted The Nurser to begin demanding of his blood, to feed the Blighted Willow, or his shield-arm to be taken from him to be turned into mulch.

Frobo helps fight against the Ghyl once more, this time trying to stop a dark ritual out in the distant farmlands within the Weald.

A couple weeks later  Gorneval happens upon Frobo alone out in the Rings, and having denied him his blood a second time, Matteo Giovanni leaps out from invisibility and attacks him alongside the harvester, but Frobo is able to flee and return to the Ward to tell all of what transpired. The ex-Knave proclaims that he shall kill Frobo upon the end of his exile, and thus he begins to gather allies to face Giovanni and the harvesters in open battle out in the King's Commons in order to prevent their absolution and subsequent return to the Ward.

Frobo and his allies, along with the unexpected help of House Orza, prove too numerous  for Giovanni and the Harvesters, and they fall against this coalition. Frank escapes and challenges Frobo to single combat. Forced to accept the duello, or suffer permanent exile, the halfling champion faces his last battle, falling to the wrath of the last living Giovanni Retainer and harvester, Frank Bigby.

Suggestions / Bring Back Old PfE Potions
December 31, 2012, 09:21:00 PM
Every single potion of Protection from Evil that I've been finding throughout the module has been the Protection From Evil Single Use variant, instead of the Protection from Evil (2).

I don't know if you understand what I mean, but the implications are that the spells from the potions now last a ridiculously short time. (It seriously feels like something like 2 minutes, as opposed to 10)

10 minutes is already a pretty short time for a potion to last. Especially one as vital for questing as PfE. Even with the vanilla timing you would still drink on average three PfE potions throughout your average quest. Now you gotta drink about ten to make it through with it up throughout the entire time.

The creates an enormous reliance on mages for that one simple spell, and I always like the fact that no quest NEEDS a certain class to be completed.

I might be wrong with my suppositions, but what do the rest of y'all think?

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Gynauld Broland
December 18, 2012, 06:20:25 AM
As so ends the tale of Mistlocke's resident asshole. To this date, I feel Broland has been my most successful character, as I've succeeded stirring things up a great deal with him, even if it was in a reactive manner, although that had more to do with his average charisma (10).

QuoteThis character was created on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012 at 11:00:56 AM.
Since creation, this character has logged on and off 156 times.
The character has spent 12 days, 18 hours, 5 minutes, and 12 seconds online.

Quote from: BackgroundHis concept was simple. Born in the Chessentan martial city-state of Akanax, he grew up hearing of the exploits of his father, whom he sought to resemble throughout his entire life because of his intense admiration. Orphaned by war at a young age, he was enlisted into the all-male mandatory conscription and thus grew up having contact with almost exclusively men.

A few years before being spirited by the Mythallar, he had captured an enemy soldier as a slave, whom just happened to be from a extreme female supremacist society(think greek amazons), of which only women were allowed citizenry and men were kept as slaves. Needless to say, the following years were an insane emotional roller coaster of love and burning hatred that thoroughly convinced Broland that all women are crazy, inept and overall inferior to their male counterparts.

Once brought to Ymph, all he ever vied for was achieving the title of War Hero, but because of his scumbag attitude never managed to get anyone to respect him for anything more than his ability to beat their faces in with his expert swordsmanship.

Quote from: IC Goals*Incite a war between Mistlocke and any major faction

*Push towards a martial state governance for the village

*Increase the amount of authority given to members of the "military"

*Receive an official honorary title for his accomplishments in the war against the Maiden or some other enemy faction

*Become known as the village's top warrior

*Personally slay the Agony

*Die gloriously in an epic battle

Quote from: LootHe only had one piece of loot that was specific to him, awesomely titled "Buskins of Broland", which explicitly stated: "Use only if you come from Broland". Thanks Winston. That set was hilarious. =P

Quote from: His deathBroland got off to an AMAZING start, but after the first three weeks of playing him he slowly started going stale due to a series of misfortunes that shut down his opportunities to shake things up or to forward his plots.

They were IC IG happenings that killed off all the fun things to do and people to oppose (or help him). While challenging Gadyw to a death duel happened for OOC reasons, it was entirely IC for him to want to die then and there. Gynauld hated Mistlocke, and the village hated him back. He was so miserable that I actually felt bad for this fictional douche bag.

Since he had the feeling the Sword of the Savior wasn't ever going to be created, even though he had already turned over an ENORMOUS amount of reagents to said end, unfortunately key channelers for the ritual had died, and even after a few weeks of waiting, failed to generate the necessary characters, Gynauld decided that he had enough of the "ingrate townies" and it was time to join those of like-mind in the Eternal Battle of Tempus.

He was honored to die to such a capable warrior such as Gadyw, as was I to see him get killed in a public fashion to a very prominent NPCs. Thank you so much to the DM Team for letting him go out with a bang, even though it seemed entirely random.

Finally, it is time for the very few screenshots that I took throughout his time on Ymph:

A true glory hound, Gynauld spared no efforts in trying to make everyone witness his prowess and (reckless) valor.

He actually wasn't lying when he said slammed H'Bala's ass into the dirt, though I failed to capture the right section of the combat log depicting the successful (aka SUPER LUCKY) knockdown. >.>

Here's me trolling Erwin. What happened was that due to an error his Tempusian Helmet was summoning a serpent instead of the usual einherjar, and thus it was dubbed Broland's WAR SNAKE OF TEMPUS! I just couldn't resist luring Faye back into his room to show her his ferocious beast.

One of his many epic moments. While swimming in the depths of the ocean Broland got singled out, being snatched by a gargantuan sized sea monsters that he was forced to slay entirely on his own whilst naked.

And finally, a couple friends... (Yes, he actually had them) Because you're nothing without your pals, especially on a place like Ymph. A lesson Gynauld had to painfully learn.

And thus thank you everyone for an awesome ride on what I felt was my best character up till now.

General Discussion / Bad Manner in IRC
December 17, 2012, 09:35:57 AM
I don't know if it's always been this way or if it's actually something new but I've consistently been seeing players act like epic douche bags towards one another on irc, treating their peers with open, vile disdain, throwing out an excess of spiteful passive-aggressive remarks and going out of their way to antagonize, berate and outright defame other members of the server. It's gotten to a point where OOC seems to spill into IC and vice-versa.

I've even seen new players being openly treated in this fashion on a daily basis and to me it is outright revolting to see such behavior from what is suppose to be a community of friendly and high quality role players. I've even considered to stop playing here as it's become so frequent as to ruin my desire to be involved with this kind of behavior.

I don't care how much you disagree with someone who has dared to voice their opinions in an honest and civilized fashion, for once you've begun spouting personal attacks against fellow players, you've clearly crossed the line. Even saying something as "I don't like you" is despicable and fosters nothing but animosity between our already dwindling numbers, so I urge you to keep that kind of thing to yourself.

The rule of "if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all" is golden in this instance so let's try and keep that in mind. We all make mistakes. We're all still learning in this voyage called life. So please think twice before you press the Enter key to send that snide remark aimed at fellow players. I literally cringe when I see people down talking to each other in a place like this, where we're suppose to be working together in order to create a cool story instead of acting like we're better than anyone else in displays of gross elitism.

Sorry for the long post, but I just want people to be nice and otherwise wouldn't have bothered to write this out if I didn't feel it were important.

Have a nice day and game on!

General Discussion / Blue NPCs in the Crossroads
November 28, 2012, 11:30:45 PM
There are now blue NPCs that are relevant to mechanical PvP in the Crossroads, now making the presence of a DM there required. I quite honestly really liked all the PvP that I've seen in the Crossroads with bandits imposing barriers and tolls at the gates without a DM, but this is no longer possible.

Were it up to me, I'd have them removed.

What does everyone else think?

Bug Reports / Empty Character List
November 06, 2012, 02:56:29 AM
Man many times a day I turn on my computer and my character list is empty when I log into EfU. I have to keep logging out and in like a hundred times to get it to show my characters.
#10
Yeah. Alphonse met an epic ending. Unfortunately while he was really fun to play, I wouldn't consider him a successful character. Sure, he made tons of money, but I never managed to shake things up on him by my own fault, of course. But as all things, EfU is a learning process. Anyways, down to some history!

[hide=Background]
Born in the merchant city state of Shamph, in Chondath, Alphonse was the only child of two prominent aristocratic merchants of note. His parents were very vain and always sought to improve themselves in the eyes of their peers, and thus when he was eleven he was sent to the Temple of Waukeen to become a Goldeye.

Alphonse proved himself talented in what they set him out to do, but to the dread of his parents he enjoyed his party life, with women, booze and drugs, causing them to fear that they he might run away with a simple tavern wench or become a junkie. He initially laughed at them for caring what others thought of them and saw them as uppity tight asses, but he'd eventually become much like them upon his time in Ymph, in the sense that image became everything to him.

Despite his views, he was always grateful to his parents as he was born into a golden crib and they always attended his every desire. He had graduated from temple service and became a cleric two years prior to being brought to Ymph. By then he already had a small, yet promising business in silk trades, but became a weapons dealer when he was warped to the strange archipelago.[/hide]

[hide=Goals]
  • Become Master Merchant
  • Establish a syndicate of merchants that would work towards gaining political power
  • Have a healthy number of sellsword PCs at the disposal of the Guild (only had 3)
  • Literally make it rain gold in Mistlocke through a ritual and thus promote the worship of Waukeen (Was planning to spend 5000 gold on this plus a bunch of expensive reagents, but I couldn't get on at a time where there were many PCs in Mistlocke and a DM available
  • Conduct a lavish festival when someone converted to Waukeen
  • Become Lord-Mayor
  • Purchase land within Mistlocke and build an estate upon it for the Guild
  • Construct a magic vault within the estate that would become the thing of legends in regards to the riches contained within
  • Set up bounties on outlaws that crossed the Guild (Damn Mist Wraiths got caught too quickly!)
  • Become an Elder
  • Build up Mistlocke and turn it into a proper place to live
  • Build a Manchakan Embassy within Mistlocke and profit upon them through the import tax
  • Hire an army of mercenaries from Old Port to defend Mistlocke and make the townspeople feel safe
  • Become the richest man on the isle
  • Earn an afterlife scene when he died

[hide=His gold]

He peeked out at about 74k, with people owing him 17k, and 4k more in the bank. He still had a shit ton of loot to sell. Something like eighty plus items. It's not hard to make coin when you have 70 items worth of storage. Alphonse also wore like seven +1 universal saves items. =)

And what happened to his fortune? Well, it didn't blow up with the Conclave, I'll tell you that!

[/hide]

[Hide=Loot]
His cloak was purchased from the Manchakan Embassy in a trip to Old Port for ten thousand gold. It was so awesome. Thanks, JaydeMoon!

He also had his Coronet of Coins, but I forgot to take a screenshot of it. =( It was basically a crown with a face guard made through melted golden coins, received as a reward for an epic DM quest that consisted of defending a druid that was working a ritual as H'Bala spawns battered our heads in. Immense fun, and cool reward. I remember the stats on it though, so here it is:

+1 Deflection AC, Extra Spell Slot: Cleric Level 1 and 2, +4 Appraise, +2 Persuade, Bright White Light(20 m), -2 Spot/Listen/Concentration, -1 Will; Only to be used by Alphonse Ja Von[/hide]

[hide=Screenshots in no particular order]
Alphonse was a womanizing man-whore. Here he is getting a sponge bath from one of his many suitors.

A trip to Old Port with Zoe!

Smokin' cigars with Major Hood (and trying to defend Mayor Squire).

Caravans. Ah, yes... Alphonse Appraise/Persuade was so high, he'd make like a 360 gold profit for each one he ran.

Many conversations took place in here.

Back when Alphonse was "poor".

Ahoy, maties! (Alphonse always traded with the Conclave, even when they were still exiled from Mistlocke)

Mayor Lisette. Alphonse always wanted to be able to say he shagged her.

Hosting a (fail) party at the Officer's Club.

Axirios freakin' out in the Square. Too many instances of the word "Chaos" were used.

Summoned by the Lord-Mayor again. She so wanted Alphonse.

Getting his monthly teeth cleaning. Paid a scroll of Bull's Strength for the service. =)

A employee's funeral. (Something like five members of his Guild were murdered during his time on Ymph. It's darn hard to recruit in the Archipelago!)

A failed conversion. Azrael was too confused to speak of his converted faith with true heart at the time, and he died before getting a chance to become a full Waukeenar.

Action shot!

I was a click away from trashing this baby. Ended up selling it for 8000 gold. Had bought it for 1k + a magic shield and chainmail. XD

An epic spiced Tower of Mercy. The NPC summoning beholders was suppose to teach Alphonse the theme for ten thousand coins but sadly he got himself killed when fighting Ghula.

Fat Mary Bite Coin, heating up the Market Hall.

The Mist just messing with our heads.

Executing a duergar for attempted murder and banditry. Alphonse had captured him himself, but I later regretted the decision of turning him over to the authorities for execution. The PC was still new and not to mention an app character. I should have offered him the opportunity to join the Merchant's Guild in exchange of citizenship. Let it be a lesson for the future.

Really cool looking gathering.

Here's the reason Alphonse gave all his gold to a friend, a vision from his very Goddess! Too bad what the Conclave had offered in exchange for aiding in the ritual was too good to pass up on the risk.

The DM quest Alphonse earned his Coronet of Coins on.

Haggling the shit outta Leyph for bogus information(Alphonse didn't know that though).

His final (epic) moments.

Resulted in a FUGUE PARTAY!
[/hide]

And that was that. Alphonse was actually a generous man, when he thought it deserving. Gave a lot of free raise, mostly. People still saw him as a greedy bastard though. Only his closest friends seemed to see his true nature. The others were just jealous of his success. =P

Thank you everyone that played a role in his life on Ymph. You made everything so awesome. Rock on!

Oh yes... and don't forget, ALL YOUR GOLD IS BELONG TO ME! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

Suggestions / Make Katana a Large Sized Weapon
September 09, 2012, 03:36:58 AM
The weapon is currently just a copy-paste of the bastard sword, and so I'd like to propose some variety by making the weapon a Large sized one so that it's to be wielded with two hands.

Since it takes a feat to use it and does less damage than a great sword, not to mention being an extremely difficult weapon to find, I think the threat range should be increased to 18-20, or the multiplier to a x3(although this might be much too overpowered).

Fun fact: In Japan those who used shields were considered cowards and thus samurais only ever fought with weapons in hand, typically with katanas being used with both hands.

Suggestions / More random caravans
September 05, 2012, 03:37:09 PM
With the new bandit faction the caravans are now a possibility for a very cool player encounter. I suggest that the amount of times they come up increase slightly, as I've only seen them happen like once a reset so far, usually at the beginning of it.

I don't know how it is now, but also make it that bandits can't just leap outta stealth and go straight for the oxen, forcing them instead to subdue those guarding the caravan.

Perhaps a reins item could be placed in the inventory of the PC that has accepted the caravan that when used on another player transfers ownership of the ox?

It might also be good to not make the ox disappear when you "stray too far" because PvP can be getting hectic and there tends to be a lot of running around.

Any additional ideas, friends?

I reckon it might be a little something like this...

[COLOR="Indigo"]Jerod Palmer had lived his whole life in Waterdeep. Son to a tavern keep, he grew up within the bars of the City of Splendors, and there he never left. His entire life he had taken up an easy life playing cards all day as he kept an eye and ear out for information to feed the City Watch. He did this not out of loyalty to the law, but as simply a mere way of gaining easy money by acting as an informant.

His life had never been filled with much excitement until arriving upon Ymph, save a bit of cheating in Royal Dragon and perhaps framing cutthroats the Guard had a hard time getting proof against, and thus he decided he would change his ways around. Jerod became a thrill-seeker, believing that since he had lived long enough already and that he might have a spot of fun before he passed on to the Final Reward. He disregarded fear as best he could and delved into the darkest places upon Ymph, entirely on his lonesome.

Although the man was indeed chaotic neutral aligned, he did have the people's interests at heart. Initially, he planned to act as an informant to all the factions of Mistlocke, possibly manipulating them to his desired outcomes, but that soon went out the window as he found a hard time finding secretive information that wasn't general knowledge. So he turned to Clan Caermyn, where he thought he might put his skills to use in a different approach.

As a Caermyn, despite not seeming like it, he was foremost loyal to the people of Mistlocke and not the Clan. He simply heavily promoted the Clan's agenda(or at least I tried to!) because he sensed there was a terrible unbalance in the power struggle of the village.

Unfortunately I was not able to accomplish much, and wasn't able to play the heavy scheming style I so desired, but it was a fun ride nonetheless! So a big shout out to all his allies and Clan rivals, as well as the Conglomerate players who made things so fun!

Now finally... to the screenshots![/COLOR]

__________________________________________

Jerod started going out and exploring on his own like around level 5. Funny that he only ran into Veins but once in his life time while scouting the wilds alone, and actually passing both paralysis saves! I saw this monument here and thought it was cool. Haryat was an epic barb, indeed.

Helping the Muster out with a homicide investigation. Gotta put those Investigator and Detective Perks to use, right?

Getting what-the-pwned at a Big Orc Man spiced quest. What else is new? :P

Yes... Tell us your secrets, Imperial scum.

Lester and his bigotry. Jerod never even cared about coin. Donated all his stuff to Clan coffers, pretty much. Using a crossbow makes questing -so- profitable, even when all his big finds were given to Markin.

These food drives all ended up with hilarious results. They were so much fun, but I didn't want to be repetitive so I tried to keep them down in number.

Jerod campaigning.

Fishing in those votes like the good, honest man he was!

Making plans for the Clan. The things Markin came up with made me chuckle.

The Mist can take you to strange places indeed...

Group hug!

Jerod had balls. Big ones. Too bad there was no transition past the walls behind that door, lest he would've snuck into the Maiden's Tower.

Apparently one of the only persons not to shoot a goblin on sight when it wants to talk.

Westar Harcrot and his darned random nude brawls in unsuitable places.

What's a Rogue without some shady dealings, right?

Well someone had to scout those bounties for Markin's promotions!

Explore ALL the corners of the island!

Bug Reports / AB bonus from Pure Rogue Detective Perk
August 20, 2012, 03:11:56 AM
Account: EfU_Jagged
Character: Jerod Palmer
Perk: Detective

The +1 AB given by the perk does not allow any other AB bonuses from other spells to be applied, including Bless, Divine Favor and Aid, no matter if you use all three at once, no AB will be obtained. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but  it seems like a hard gimp for what's suppose to be a flavorful perk!

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions / New Player Tool
August 06, 2012, 12:56:27 AM
Greetings, my esteemed roleplayers. What I would like to suggest is a player tool for spell casting classes that would function similar to the rogue's Examine Mark, but instead for identifying which spells the person has up. This likely would have Spellcraft counted in the process, but the kinks I leave to the community to further upon!

Neither the AB bonus, nor the +2 to Wisdom, nor the skill bonuses.

The only thing received was the bluff measuring ability.

Couldn't seem to locate player tool to identify forgeries either.

Bug Reports / Issue with Spellsword background
July 24, 2012, 06:55:16 PM
While Spellsword does indeed give you the martial and exotic proficiency feats, it still doesn't allow one to take Weapon Focus for weapons other than those of Simple Proficiency. Is there any way around this?
