General Discussion / Re: Gaming vs Gamesmanship

I understand your point of view. I say this very respectfully, but I won't continue the point of PVP (someone else's answer triggered something and like cmenden, said every post diverted from original post to this) , because we're missing, in my opinion, the important and juicy topic of IG culture and social roleplay, which adds a lot to a game world and was the original topic.

I agree very much with that, and I'm quite glad someone brought that up. I find it ironic that some people say nowadays that "the Peerage stands for nothing" because it used to be something folks said about Ticker Square. (Which stood for money...but money for what...?) I felt recently that the Houses were becoming more similar and losing of what made each of them unique, but that's another topic...

To me, to not go on a quest train and do social roleplay always meant I missed an opportunity to stay on-par with other people in terms of level, supplies and gear. Even more when I had suffered recently from a death. (Because nobody's safe from a failed save or a 80 hp critical hit) Sometimes I went on the quest train instead, after a while I tried to mostly stick to roleplay whenever the possibility's there, because I realized that's what I'm here for, in the end.

I feel like some sort of compensation would ease that up. Experience meaning "life experience". For example, still have that 10 xp tick going on after level 6. It's just a small example, but that way it feels like people aren't punished for not sticking  to the grinding aspect. Because the issue is mostly mechanical.

But in the end? Yes, I think it's the roleplaying moments that we remember the most. So it's important to become conscious of that. It's ironic, but yesterday I read someone's comment talking about Game of Thrones. (concerning the Targaryen spinoff) Basically he said "I don't care how much you put into epic fights and CGI. Bring me dialogue. It's the badass interactions between characters I remembered the most of the original series."

Speaks for itself.

As a sidenote, I didn't experience a lot of PVP ambushes  in-game. However, many people told me of their characters' sudden FD. And not folks hellbent on PVP either. (Found myself lucky to not get more of that) So while we don't all experience it the same way, it is definitely there.

I can easily say Branger brought of lot of unexpected events IG, and we couldn't exactly know where to look, where the next mischief would be! Great job, thanks a lot for bringing that breath of fresh air!

I met Corby pretty late ; She was one of the soft figure also with a stingy aspect at the same time, when needed. Wish I knew her more, but glad I got to talk with her. Thanks for the roleplay!

Bug Reports / Re: Spring attack randomly not working
March 09, 2022, 03:14:42 AM
Ah, I thought so, I still had a wishful thinking, just in case. I can open a ticket with Beamdog, and if a bug occurs during an important event with a big consequence, I'll just ask here if it comes to happen.

Thanks for the tip, but I keep WASD for games like Metro, haha!

Thanks for the answer.

Bug Reports / Spring attack randomly not working
March 08, 2022, 05:29:34 PM
Pretty self-explanatory, the feat sometimes decides not to work. When I say spring attack, it is really in the sense of getting in and out of combat without triggering attacks of opportunity. At first, I thought it was only a specific monster in a specific quest, but now it can be at any moment, with anything. Below are several instances of it, it occurs 2-3 times per fight when it happens (once or twice per week)

Thanks for looking on the matter.

There are some characters that you know your own won't interact much with, but you wish you'd bend the rules for your character behaviour and personality, because you'd want so much to spend some time with.  Alcide was one of them. I "really" enjoyed watching him from afar and hearing his stories. Thanks for showing us a colourful persona that this gallant heart was. I wish your continuity of characters to be just as entertaining and inspiring to play.

Cheers, mate!

As someone who's not around anymore these days, I can't give my opinion on the matter since I didn't see it, I'd only be speculating. However, on the following :

Quote"My two cents, I would like to see a return to a trifecta of three different power bases. Houses / Something / Ponds with that Something having starter quests and a faction or two to get behind. That being said, I dont think the current state is a bad one and the ongoing DM plots are really interesting. It does tend to produce some of the above mentioned behavior."

I think rivalry between houses IN the Peerage Ward is something that would work better. Because people cross paths in the same city, and you can roleplay the tension between the different factions. Having three different power bases...I've seen that last year. What happens is that since  "power base" folks don't like the other and has prejudices over them: They never meet and stay in their corner. At best, they cross paths in the dispensary area, or some place like that, glare and hiss at each other.

So have characters meet in the same area.

Of course, times, moods come and go in waves. Right now it is quite friendly in the Ward, we could say that the ghyl threat brings unity to the people, the same way (on an infinitely larger scale) people were sticking together in Sanctuary last chapter. Things might change later. Increased hostility between the Count's and King's men, for example. To have a house secretly work with the Ponds to sabotage another side's efforts would be a great example of including the other hub, in my perspective.

For me, the best memory I had of house rivalry was during the tournament : People were clearly picking sides, but it wasn't about murdering each other either. (Well, mostly...)

I raise my glass to a collaborative storytelling project full of surprises, unexpected twists about a story sometimes told with finesse and nuances, and other times tough as nails. I also congratulate the new DMs aboard : I've already felt the novelty you bring in, I'm glad you're there.

Cheers guys. May this place enjoy for a long time the unique and cool flavour each and every one of you bring! Thank you.

I'm back to work. The situation was supposed to be alright, but there's a lot of work to be done, in the end. Also, the final date of a project I have to finish have been moved several weeks closer. I can't say what will happen of Alejandro, as I can't guarantee any playtime at all. Sorry Team Velstra, wish you a lot of fun!

No matter the outcome, I had a good time roleplaying along  this proud knightly figure. Thanks,  and wish you one heck of a good ride with your next character!

Off-topic Discussion / Re: Character Theme Songs

Alejandro is  such a  dreamlike figure, that songs were inspired of him, before he even existed. Thus, this world needed to have its own Alejandro. Here, see : They even draw pictures of me while playing adaptations...

WHO : The clerics and same deity characters .

WHAT: Clerical zone buffs are improved. Bless and prayer give +2  to rolls instead of +1 to the faithful of the same deity, for example.

WHY: Gives a mechanical incentive to have  several characters share the same faith. The same way nonhumans get a bonus from racial domain turn undead abilities, but have  it act as a faith unifier instead of race.
