I was not pleased with the loot drop when I did this previously, folks disagreed with me though by and large. Apparently there are amazing drops mixed in with the scant pickings, and I've seen a few shadow themed items that I assume originated from therein.

Otherwise, it was a pretty cake quest, which isn't terrible in and of itself but the return was not comparative to other QAs that are easy (harpies comes to mind).

Getting flanked is bad. Your argument was made and required no further comment - if its a script issue hopefully the suggestion thread will get followed up on, if its a DM issue you're probably SOL. My advice is to chug invis second things get nasty and let NPCs/retards take the worst of it (unless you're a pally dork, in which case you fall under retard by default).

Seconded. If possible.

Barb speed bonus is pretty minor compared to others, I think. If you made some weird Barb/Ranger/Druid you could probably move damn fast in the wilds, especially if some speed perk is available I am not aware of. I'm not certain how viable the character would be but the high BAB/HP would probably make it doable.

I'd be in favor of making it much tougher to invis loot everything during these events. I held off a scripted invasion solo (with the NPC Stygs) one night back in Archipelago and some stealther looted nearly everything before I finished off the boss. I had no C&C items so even while he was around making bags disappear I had no ability to counter him with despite the fact it was painstakingly obvious what was going on OOCly and ICly. Maybe a script that simply bombs your H/MS for a round when you take an item in stealth. I'd like to say it isn't an issue but this is the same reason PC corpses autolock during DM invasions; people, maybe just 5 or even 10 percent of the playerbase, really cannot be bothered to control themselves.

Getting nothing for your efforts, not even recognition, is a colossal letdown, enough that people may be inclined simply to avoid these encounters altogether. A simple change like the one suggested above could fix the issue and make these encounters more enjoyable all around as was the original intention before buttheads (players) got brought into the equation.

As far as difficulty, I haven't really been around much lately and the last DM invasion I saw a month or two ago was indeed a bit much due to the monsters being used, but that is more an issue related to that particular staff member moreso than anything else, a topic I have commented on previously. I can't seem to find the thread for posterity's sake.

Scripts are already in place to counter invisibility from NPC side. If you are off doing your own thing and not actively fleeing, its pretty haphazard under the current mechanics.

I can see the use of such a spell for a conjurer. There are certain creatures that are outright immune to invisibility however, which may be summonable provided you use existing systems to temporarily change your theme.

Failing that, just drop your level 5 summon of death and tag him with see invis. The Summoner archetype should have some vulnerabilities and particular builds are almost fullproof even without special wanding.

I didn't catch the journal bit, and was very surprised by the boss.

This was implemented as for the Watch. There was a lowbie quest that was only accessible via an NPC behind several locked doors that a Watch PC member would have to unlock and lead quest takers too.

The end result was nobody ever did the quest. Good in theory, bad in practice.

He can go down pretty hard. I've also seen him bitchslap groups back in the day when this was on the Zig, dunno if he's been edited or the groups hitting granary are just bigger (probably the latter, servers more popular and people can't seem to keep their levels, plus you almost always catch him solo irregardless of group size). He can still take people out if he gets a lucky crit, but it doesn't always happen.

Just a server trend I think. He isn't well balanced to the groups of 5-8 that have been running the QA of late as opposed to ye old 2-3 runs, but the rest of the quest is so I'm not really bothered by it.

I got crit twice in two rounds the other day, once even in 50% concealment despite MA/PoA buffs. Shit happens bro. Of course, I've been telling people to fear the greataxe for some time now. Did you know they have the highest damage potential of any weapon, even higher than scythe? Some simple math reveals 12 x 3 is > 8 x 4. From the PC perspective however greataxes with decent stats tend to be pretty uncommon/rare, and scythes almost all have good stats to make up for the fact you need exotic to rock with them.

My opinion is that unless the item is one of a kind, something truly plot, the colors should not be fixed, for what its worth.

It's not a good idea. The first new character I made for EFU:M I was too scared to go off the Zig so I missed those QAs anyways - but perhaps for good reason! Nightrisers do appear sparsely there at night.

If the true goal of the DM team is utter unpredictability in the gameworld, my sincere recommendation is to automate higher end spice and random encounters to the highest extent possible in order to avoid the inevitable intrusion of bias in the gameworld and to make things as truly as random, or fair, as possible.

Of course, the policy of the DM team has always been, in so far that I am aware, that the most interesting PCs get the most interesting perks/encounters, which is not necessarily a bad approach to things. Certainly many of the PCs that have risen to prominence and accomplished great acts have had DM help in many forms along the way. One might even go so far as to say permission for most of said acts. Considering the nature of PWs and the behavior of the average RPG player, again, this is not necessarily a bad thing. This accepted practice however seems to go in the face of everyone being spiced equally with equal reward, and what's more, seems to be more the reality of the situation as opposed to this recently suggested ideal of mutual uncertainty.

The problem is, despite intents, when characters are spiced and rewarded in drastic variance by virtue of having different DMs or their characters being less interesting due to newness or other factors, it creates an environment where people feel unfairly treated. Certainly we all want an atmospheric gameworld, but if I can relate my failures or trials to specific DMs as opposed to a dice rolling machine, all that is created is an atmosphere of hostility and alienation. The DM team must endeavor to provide rewards equal to the challenges faced and attempt to be as uniform as possible in this regard - it is not good enough to act on whim or for one or more to be unduly heavy handed and miserly.

I know that my experience is improved when I have more people to interact with - indeed, the lifeblood of any server is the amount of bodies it can attract and the length of time it can maintain their interest. Any policy or person that goes in the face of this even inadvertently is counter intuitive.
