people are glum. I genuinely had no idea people were this glum. I thought everything was fine. Granted it's hard for me to tell living in muh swamp

Do changelings even have the upper hand? They have the same "upper hand" they have always had, which is "see you in the woods". And this is the age old problem of fighting an insurgency hiding in the wilderness. Except the insurgents can turn into animals and shit.

I don't think House gear is weak, you just have to pay for FP now.

Retainers being non-app is part of the charm as i've always seen it. You are literally some guy recruited off the street. The fact it's very little different from a gang is part of the point. The houses are just Gangs and Syndicates that dress themselves up posh and rely on a steady stream of stupid violent young people with no prospects (aka adventurers) to be their muscle. The city is anarchy. Law is an illusion. The ward is an island surrounded by literal and figurative shit. Never forget you are Visigoth's squatting in the burned out remains of Rome. The real issue is you can't quit, but then that's part of being in a gang isn't it? No way out but a beating or a coffin.

Being in a house only restricts your RP as much as you let it. If you wanna hang with changelings, just keep it on the DL. Someone accuses you? Accuse them back. Duel them. Don't like the houses actions? Sounds like an IC conflict, quit.

Houses ARE NOT the end all be all of server involvement, conflict, plot or development. They're tools for that.

double dog sure this turn does absolutely nothing, making it a wasted slot.

This turning option seems to be broken, I never get any benefit from it despite casting neck deep in halflings. Per the wiki:

Champion the Smallfolk: The user receives +1 dodge AC for every nearby ally in a huge radius who is a dwarf, gnome, or halfling, up to a maximum of +4 or +1d(Level), whichever is lower, for 5 + 3*CHA rounds. For every +2 dodge AC, receive +1 universal saves for the duration. For every +4 dodge AC, receive +1 non-magical AB for the duration.

but I never get any bonus ac, unless it doesn't show on char sheet

From TORRANCE on EFU Main

QuoteTorrance: Hey look what I've found : NWN:EE. If set to 1 or higher, a creaturesize.2da size ID, it will be considered to be a finesse weapon. If the FEAT_FINESSE_WEAPON is taken then dexterity may be used for the attack roll instead of strength. This unhardcodes the feat.

Quote] Torrance: Also... people who are fans of weapon finesse on new weapons, it's apparently possible now : WeaponFinesseMinimumCreatureSize - If set to a creature size (see creaturesize.2da), that size (and higher) can finesse using that weapon unhardoding the Weapon Finesse feat. It previously was entirely hardcoded.

Q-Staff would be flipping amazing, as would things like spear, club, etc. Unfortunate if impossible, but we can dare to dream

a cleric that worships the city itself is something i've tried many times, though never as a reccy. If I wasn't knee deep in a long term aimed pc right now i'd go for it.

players declined obit, but I took a few screencaps I wanted to share now that it's over  :'(

Suggestions / Wilderness Survival = Fire
June 03, 2022, 08:56:07 PM
Make Starting a campfire a wilderness survival check. Flat d20 + Wilderness Survival Skill. Give us a Player Tool that lets us do it without oil flasks at DC 20. Make doing it with oil DC 11, so someone with 10 Wilderness Survival will always succeed.

Let Rangers, Druids, and Barbarians auto succeed at these campfire checks.

General Discussion / Re: Gaming vs Gamesmanship
May 18, 2022, 02:56:36 PM
On the discussion of building things, the issue's I see facing people who try to make something are;
1. Getting attention
Just getting people, be it players or DM's, to pay attention. So many of us are bitter jaded vets. DM's don't want to watch you emote *repairs bridge* for 5 hours. Making things is boring, burning shit down is fun and exciting and provides loot and exp.

2. Getting 'attention'
As soon as you try to do something, someone WILL try to murder you. Because they're desperate to get that attention too. If you make headway, someone will materialize from the woodwork to try and ventilate your skull and make their own bones. This drives conflict to be sure, but can create difficulty for the more mechanically impaired who don't know how to build or wage PVP conflict.

At work are a whole lot of subconscious, ingrained behaviors as people compete either for DM attention or 'to win' (in order to get DM attention). In a strange way, the DM team are our chaos gods, and we are just puppets dancing for the grace of the dark powers. Maybe there's a character concept there...

3. Dying on the vine
EFU is a game, not a job. Nobody is obligated to be here, nobody should be obligated to be here. But sometimes, player driven things that gain momentum just DIE because the principle players, be they PC or DM, check out. Nobody is really to blame for this - again this is a game. But it does happen. And then you're left with a hanging thread that is forgotten or swept under. Everyone talks about Sabuth and the Sons of Sabuth and the great revolution, nobody mentions what actually HAPPENED with Sabuth. Which iirc, the player mcfucking vanished and left everyone holding a bag.
