The last thread that I made for portraits was around the time of the Enhanced Edition transition for EFU:R

If you have an image you want to use for a character portrait follow these instructions on the NWN Wiki.  After you have the five image files, zip them up and upload them on somewhere like google drive, mega, etc and post the download link here so others can download it and I can compile them into a zip file of portraits for City of Rings PCs!

If scouring the internet for portraits isn't for you then rest assured that the Steam community has you covered. There are a number of very large portrait packs available on the Steam Workshop. Unfortunately, the packs themselves seem draw content from a number of places, including other games or sources that aren't entirely fitting for the setting. Keep this in mind when making a character and use your best judgement when choosing a portrait. Your character probably doesn't look just like Geralt from The Witcher!

That said, here are some of the better packs.  I don't believe EE has any issue handling large portrait folders so (unless I'm wrong) subscribe to your heart's content. I'm not going to link to any portrait packs explicitly made for other Persistant World servers.

Quality Fantasy Portrait Pack [275]

(SCAPE) Stock Character/Art Portrait Expansion Project

AdreannaDrea's Portrait Collection Male

AdreannaDrea's Portrait Collection Female

I do want to reiterate, though, that just because something is in these packs does not make it suitable for your CoR PC.

Use this thread to post the portrait image files for your PC or, I suppose, to share which pack has the portrait  for your PC.

This character was created on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at 12:11:59 AM.

WARNING: Lots of images!

I made Saevel with the idea of being a social-first leader PC in Sanctuary. At the time I made this PC I was just coming back to EFU after a year or so hiatus and wanted something I could play with a variable schedule that did not depend on being level 9 continuously. Saevel actually spent most of his life at level 8, only hitting 9 for a maybe a total of four or five months split between two occasions.

This is going to be a long obituary. I'm deeply thankful to all the players and characters I've interacted with over the past year. Unfortunately, there is no way I'm going to be able to mention every single important conversation, event, or character Saevel interacted with because there a lot.

Biography

Saevel was born in the north of Evermeet to a family of fisher. Despite this relatively humble origin his family's status as sun elves and citizens of Evermeet afforded them a great deal of opportunity that Saevel gladly took advantage of. His childhood was filled with learning about the staples of Elven life. Though he received a wide degree of training in everything from swordplay to art he found that he particularly enjoyed painting, writing, calligraphy, and theology. A century or so later when he left childhood he decided to join the church of Corellon Larethian, the father of Elvenkind. In the service of the church he was appointed to the rank of Aegisess and was assigned to a group that acted as a mix between missionary and diplomat. This group was to wander between between settlements with the aim of maintaining relations between distant elven groups and the main church of Corellon on Evermeet.  Saevel was in the midst of a trip to the forests of Tethyr when the darkening occurred. The group was quickly scattered by the advance of the Dread  Empire. Saevel found himself on his own. He survived by scavenging from abandoned wood elven villages and staying hidden from the main advance of the Dread Armies. Salvation, though, was not far away and soon came to him in the form of a portal to the underdark.

Any celebrating was short lived as the loss of the Seldarine finally hit him when he reached Sanctuary. Saevel fell into a deep state of melancholy and spent the next five years in the Garden of the Lost, not able or willing to take a part in the daily struggles of Sanctuary's elven population.

Half a decade later a vision came to him in the midst of reverie. Saevel believed he saw the very creation of the elven peoples by Corellon himself, that he was witness to the entire process and knew now the secret of an ember of divinity that smoldered within his people. With a newfound purpose he shook off his mourning.

His original goals as stated in character notes.
Quote from: Character Notes for Saevel Raedrimn
Short term goals:

-The establishment of a new elven church. This New Faith would be dedicated to worshipping the innate divinity of and empowering the elven peoples.
-Recovery of lost elven peoples.  Each elf has the potential of Godhood within them and must be found and protected. The mourners must be awakened from their grief.
-Representation on the council of Sanctuary. The Elves must become a political force to be reckoned with. Show Sanctuary that they need the elves more than the elves need them. To accomplish the above goal, Saevel will be seeking to become Councillor.

Long term goals:

-A new Seldarine. The promise of godhood exists. Elves must reclaim, and ascend to, the Throne of Corellon Larethian. To accomplish this he intends to hoard relics that he comes across and when enough are gathered try to use them to ascend.

One thing that also helped me play the character was establishing early on what Saevel's motives actually were. I decided early on that Saevel was not in this for any sort of power or personal gain. His motives regarding the elves were entirely sincere. He genuinely believed his people to be incredible and worthy of any sacrifice. These ideals would guide his development over the next year or two.

Saevel's descriptions over time.

The "Alchemical Sun Globule" throwable sold by Scattaban Mutskarion Deckar in the House of Trade appear to be spawning the wrong NPC when thrown. At the moment they're spawning a hostile "Black Cobra" when they should be spawning the alchemical sun globule as seen in his store.

The Garden of the Lost has changed a fair bit over the past few months but some of the minor dialogue and language hasn't changed to meet it. As a result I've a few small proposals for the garden.

Anebril Cys'variana is an elven NPC in the Garden of the Lost that allows you to rest inside. Elves (and elf friendly non-humans) are allowed to rest for free. Humans are allowed to rest there for 15gp or so. Given the hostility many in the Garden now feel toward humans maybe consider removing the ability of humans to rest there.

Similarly, the same NPC has dialogue relating to the history of the Garden but it seemingly hasn't been updated in some time. It does not reflect the current status of the EFU world at all, still refers to the mourners in lower, etc.

Similar to the first suggestion, perhaps consider adding a sign or graffiti to the Garden's facade reflecting that humans, covenant, etc are not welcome inside.

The Sentinels of the Coming Dawn
Class: Any non-druid
Race:  Any Elven race.  Half-elves possible.  Auxiliary group allows dwarves, halflings and gnomes in the "Guardians of the Advent"
Alignment: Any
Religion(s):  Shevarash (Revenant Prince), Seldarine, and Mourning

The Sentinels of the Coming Dawn are a group of elves in service of the Garden of the Lost and led by the Elven Coronal Saevel Raedrimn. The group itself has laid claim to the Street of the Gods and has dedicated itself to furthering the cause of the dwindling Elven population. Salvation is sought and the Sentinels will find it on their own terms, separate from the three major factions. There are a a couple large plots already surrounding the Sentinels with more possible in the coming weeks!

There's a number of great possibilities for concepts for this player group and it's open enough to accommodate many different play styles.  The group's central theme is one that is is able to accommodate Elves of all alignments.

Playing an elf can seem a bit overwhelming. There are dozens of books of lore released over the past thirty years and even more found in novels.  You really don't need to know most of that.  If you do want a quick crash course on Elven lore you can feel free to find me on discord.

If anyone has any questions, ideas for concepts they'd like to bounce off me, or want some lore basics I'd be more than happy to help. You can find me as Sankis in game or on discord.

In game a number of fliers and the like exist as well.

Bug Reports / Councilor prefectures bugged

Account: Sankis
Character: Saevel Raedrimn

Upon having my character transitioned over to the EE server, I logged in and went to go use my storage chest only to find out that my key didn't work. I then spoke with the NPC in the house of governance to see if I'd simply let it run out without noticing.

It would appear that the two currently occupied councilor properties, the Temple and Council Office 1, are still considered occupied. However, my character no longer seems to have ownership of the Temple.

Character: Saevel Raedrimn

My character, a sun elf, prior to the EE transition had 10 dexterity and 14 intelligence. After having the character transferred over it would appear he has been hit by the Sun Elf -2 dexterity, +2 intelligence a second time. He now has 8 dexterity and 16 intelligence.

The old thread is almost 10 years old and is something of a pain to browse.

If you currently play a character with a custom portrait, post a link to the files here. Every so often I will compile the portraits in this thread and release an archive of them all.

This is a question that has been on my mind for a little bit now due to recent IC events. I can't seem to find an answer anywhere on the forums, though. Who is responsible for the finances for the Spellguard? Do they now handle their own money and pay to the Watchers or is it still drawn, to some degree, from the city's coffers?

I got bored and combined all of my logs for #efusendings. It's a rough thing and will have some gaps but I thought people may find it interesting none the less.

I tried to get rid of as much non-sending content as I could though I left in every time someone did a !d and it saved it, just for context.

It's only available in .zip form at the moment because apparently my hosting doesn't like straight up 10 meg text files.

Add in an item that warders or non-heavy armor classes can buy with favor that grants them heavy armor feat with the condition that this item can only be used in conjunction with the various power armors.

As of right now only classes with heavy armor proficiency can spend their trickle of favor income. Something like this would allow others to be able to utilize the armors as well.

General Discussion / Lore friendly elven resources
December 02, 2017, 04:22:40 AM
Hey, I've noticed a lot more elves lately and that's awesome! I thought some may appreciate a couple forgotten realms resources. I've personally adopted some of these sayings and such for my own character. This way you can avoid certain Lord of the Rings-isms like "vedui" or "edan"

http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/diction_elf.htm - This is a collection of various elven words and sayings collected by someone on the candlekeep forum, I believe. It is, as far as I'm aware, fairly old but mostly legit.

http://freepdfhosting.com/5f6a747504.pdf - This is the most complete collection of Forgotten Realms Elvish I've ever come across. While it's still woefully inadequate for a written language, it does contain words, phrases and places scoured from a good many official source books. It also features an english to elvish dictionary in the back half, meaning you can fairly quickly look up elvish for human if the need ever strikes you. It also teaches you how to form Espruar sentences if you're a crazy person.

http://www.fontspace.com/pixel-sagas/eladrin - This is one of several Espruar (the elven language in the forgotten realms, maybe D&D in general?) fonts. Use it for weird art things, I guess!

I hope this helps!

Class: Any non-druid
Race: Any Elven (exceptions rare)
Alignment: Good or Neutral ideal, but Evil is not out of the question.

A series of in game events have led to the creation of a new division of the Watchers. It is an attempt to create an elite Watcher unit consisting entirely of Elves from the Garden of the Lost where they may find purpose in duty.

Though technically Watchers, The groups desires are a bit more open than something like the Watcher's Defensive branch. The Morvian unit is meant to offer a place where Elves may engage in martial or scholarly pursuits yet also serving with distinction and purpose in Sanctuary. While they carry the duties of the Watchers, the Morvian will also have goals that run parallel to the needs of the city such as the recovery of Elven artifacts or protecting the Garden of the Lost. There is also a potential religious aspect that can be explored in game!

Conflict is inevitable as the group occupies a unique place in the Watcher hierarchy and no one likes anyone else in (our outside) Sanctuary. There is, of course, also the possibility down the line that the goals of the Elves no longer perfectly align with the city.

It's a great time to get on the ground floor of something I hope will be fairly interesting! If you're interested in making a PC, do not hesitate to PM me for a bit more information, or find me in #waw
