i remember there were some bard things that allowed them to summon spirits sort of on and off, is there a way to do that at character creation or a specific diety for it, i want to know for a concept i thought up.

I believe the song in question had the spirit summon removed. It may be possible to earn it for your character, though. If you want something like that at character creation, you usually need to app for it.

What you are thinking of was the old bard song perks, which were made inaccessible when the bard songbook came out. They may still be in the system so it might be possible to have done, but would require an application. Those songs were much stronger than they are now in the songbook form, but you also could not switch back then either; you chose one and had it forever.
