Messages - A Mystery Clock

I haven't played this character in a very long time, nor I plan to ask to unshelf. I'd be glad to return her wordly possessions to DMs if there's any reason to!

Idon was supposed to be an exploration/lore seeking character. The idea was to play a stealthy little ghost able to prance around and rustle through the deepest, darkest secrets of the dark without being caught. She woke up with no memories of her past self in a cave not far from Sanctuary, and she is implied to have arranged the circumstances to literally start fading out of existence.

While I was very pleased with how things turned out, she didn't quite manage to make a break as an anti hero or a monstruous assassin, keeping on the shy side more often than not. She gathered a disgusting amount of lore, partially from her teacher (Mitra'nar, the Crow, who half tried to teach her half tried to KILL HER) partially from her own penchant for poking around. Left impaled people on the barricades of lower for a while, and creeped out folks with Fear of Darkness, handwritten messages and just popping out of stealth at the worse possible times. I doubt a lot of people remember, but here, have some screenshots!

I've found out that during the summer player numbers seem to wane. People go outside or on vacation and disappear for a while. As much as I'd like some more soloable content, I have to admit that it would most likely break the delicate balance of EFU, as well as going against its policy of pushing characters together rather than setting them apart.

On the other hand, I have also played on excellent servers whose total population amounted to about 30 people. This means that more often than not, seeing six people online meant something -big- was going on. I'd suggest logging in anyway and prodding fellow players to join. The downtime, long, boring wait is the flip side of a server where when RP ensues it is actually good. I have actually experienced a -lot- of that as a newcomer.

Summing up: the player shortage might be just temporary, if you want to introduce a little bit of solo content it is probably worth trying, but an excessive amount might turn the server into a bunch of players each soloing their own stuff, thus being actually counter-productive.

I really liked Jhulae. She and the rest of the ooze cult were insanely hard to stalk, but what impressed me the most is that it was extremely hard for me to label her as a villain. The cult really seemed to mean well, despite being monstrous monsters of monstery monstrousness.

A screenshot, from the very beginning. Yes, that's an hostile ooze.

Absolutely ok with accents. It's about as hard for players to understand them as it is to -type- them. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, and onomatopoeias are absolutely legitimate when dealing with hissing, growling, barking characters. Dialects are perfectly fine as well. Even though the characters are all supposed to speak common/undercommon they would be influenced by the accent of the various regions, have personal idiolects, use slang and so on. It is also rather realistic.

Edit:

Quote from: Sankis;433832people who use their accents in written text on the forums. Accents don't work like that!

This, however.

Oh, Beflas... I'm waiting to get from Writer the authorization to post more relevant and perhaps spoileriffic images, but this obituary doesn't nearly make Beflas justice.

The more silly shenanigans and shameless wooing

Beflas' unseen guard. It happened more often than you think.

Beflas was an incredibly fun character to play with, and despite his apparent "neutrality" he was involved in some pretty important stuff. I can safely say that the relationship he and Idon had was one of the most entertaining I've ever had on EFU, and left me amused, surprised and suspicious more than once.

Curse the circumstances for not having been able to spend more time with him. And yes, little shadow did love his stew-obsessed tiefling, as much as a respectable shadow aware of the futility of the sentiment in a world where everything WILTS AWAY AND DIES ever could

Sadly I need to take an extended break from EFU due to minor health problems. I might still pop on and off, but likely much less than before :(

Apparently I lied, and I'm unable to play EFU while either zonked out by pre-exam work or terrified by pre-exam tension. I'll see you in a couple of days, when I won't risk stripping my character naked and running through the Scamander screaming something nonsensical (then again, that goes straight to concept list).

Exams are approaching and I'm slightly behind, so my online presence will be somewhat reduced in the next week.

Man, talk about a downer ending. Might be biased, since Seregon has been something I've wanted to interact with since ages ago. :???:

I have fond memories of Beflas and Idon chasing him in the in-between and failing to get him. That man was as slippery as a piece of wet soap. WELL DONE.

Ahhh. I remember stalking the Orog for the first time. Udeka was there, and hearing him talk in fluent common was without doubt what stayed the knife... (well, and Duergar robbing people on the side) too soon, too soon.

Much praise to the Orog faction in general, well played and under no perspective shallow.

... Now I really wish I had been there for boulders-throwing competitions and Orog shenanigans. This looks like a boatload of fun!

This wasn't meant to be a discussion about the legitimacy of stealth. As much as I remember, there's plenty elsewhere. Point is, Chuckling Bill's positioning makes exiting the Crone a rather clumsy business for stealthing characters (or if it's just me, tell me and I will shut up and just pay more attention :D).

We might be Jackie Chan good at dodging arms! And terrible at dodging eyeless deep spiders.

Edited, for Tala. Near the hatch, but slightly to the side? In this particular instance the hatch had already been opened by someone else, so "opening the hatch should break stealth anyway" does not apply to this particular issue.
