Suggestions / Athletic Perk to give Athletics Bonus
April 15, 2024, 02:07:23 AM
The Rogue Major Perk "Athletic" should give a bonus to the Athletic skill. Maybe instead of the +10 Discipline that so many other perks have, it can just get +10 Athletic instead? Especially now with the Fight or Flight feat it could create for an interesting niche build that Rogues can opt into.

Correspondence / A Letter sent to Miro Lac-du-Manse
March 27, 2024, 11:20:48 PM
[An ornate envelope smelling of rich perfumes arrives somehow, somewhere, addressed to an individual known as "Miro".]

Hziran 28th, IY 7788

Esteemed Sophist,

I, Hamdan al-Hamdan, have heard of your intellect in nearly all social halls in town. I would delight in a chance to speak directly to such an extraordinary scholar such as yourself. Do you prefer the earthy scent of a hot brew or the foggy vapours of a qalyan pipe? It shall be my treat.

[Two well-perfumed envelopes arrive at the Palatial Pyramid, both tucked under one of the Legates' offices. A thick cloud of aromas and scents bursts out as it's opened.]

Hziran 28th, IY 7788

Esteemed Legates,

I, Hamdan al-Hamdan, petition you to restore me to my former office, which was stripped away from me by a dual-White League Pyramid for daring to speak out against them and in favour of the Fourth Legion's Janissaries. I urge you to do this hastily, as I wish to enter again the realm of governing Ephia's Well with vigour and enthusiasm as a true Purple Patriot would.

I, Hamdan al-Hamdan, should serve as one of the Viziers of the Well. It is my destiny, and my calling. Now, more than ever, in a full-Purple Pyramid, it is THE time!!!

Suggestions / Thug Perk to give Thug Feat
March 06, 2024, 08:42:24 PM
Just as the title says, I think the Rogue Major Perk "Thug" should give the "Thug" feat; just like how the Thug Perk for Barbarian gives the Thug feat. Would be nice, lovely, thematic, all that.

Suggestions / Villain method to hand in bounties
February 20, 2024, 01:06:36 PM
There should be a way for villains to hand in the janissary bounties from the Creep. Instead of killing or convincing the villain to turn himself in, could "recruit" him into the dark side, have him join the Creep as another criminal.

Suggestions / Legate-only furniture store
January 31, 2024, 02:39:48 PM
I think it could be very interesting to have a legate-only furniture store with access to strange and normal furniture items that uses the Treasury to pay for the objects. It could be very interesting to give Legates tools to play around with, so instead of waiting for a DM to build X statue or X hospital or X bathhouse, the Legates can instead do it all themselves with no hassle.

It'll also be very fun to see corrupt Legates spend all the treasury fund on decorating their own suite, which can be a hilarious scandal that'll promote a lot of IC heated debates and conflict. It can also be an awesome way to give players more niche furniture items that aren't present in any of the in-game stores because they might be misused and/or policed or whatever, but when someone becomes a Legate, they become a big deal, so they're most likely going to use it in a sensible way that makes it fun for everyone.

Suggestions / Add Tired/Old Man combat style back!!
January 31, 2024, 02:26:32 PM
Add it back! If people use it and glitch out like Rayman, surely that's the same kind of RP violation as anything else that would break immersion, like not RPing at all and talking OOC in IC, don't let a few ruin the treasures of the many.

We want our hunchback sages back! Please... it was so, so good.

In Ephia's Well, there's two main sending spots out in civilized society, both of them cost money because you pay this to the scribe attending the machine. That makes sense. However, in the desert, it's very common to have sending spots with not a single NPC managing the place. Where exactly is this money going? Is it just evaporating so your words can ring out to the world? Personally, it doesn't really make sense to me, and I think we could use having those niche spots be free. Not only would it drastically improve the villain experience, as now you can make sendings without worrying too much about your finances, which you often struggle with, but it also just makes more SENSE.

Additionally, in the Creep, there's an NPC thug that manages the resting spot, but no NPC thug that capitalizes on the sending-head? I think putting an NPC there that manages the spot for a little extra cash would be pretty cool and thematic. I also think it could add some additional use-cases for the "Thug" perk. Maybe the "Thug" perk can function as the "Herald" perk, but only for the Creep. You're this established, intimidating criminal down there-- the guy trying to make a quick buck from those sending-heads lets you make a few for free "on the house" out of fear.

Suggestions / Add navigation to Scout Rogue Major Perk
January 26, 2024, 01:01:15 PM
So the recent addition to Rogue Major Perks on level 9 just got me thinking. As of now, Scout gets +10 spot at level 9, but really, shouldn't they get a bonus to navigation in some way or another? Something like +3 navigation at level 8, or maybe +6. They're a scout, they should know how to navigate around!

[An extravagant envelope addressed to none other than the former Legate Qari Alriyh finds its way into his tower, carrying with it the waxing waft of oud and other exorbitant perfumes.]

Nisah 16th, IY 7787

Former-Legate Qari Alriyh,

I have much to discuss with you on matters of grave import. I would be much enthused to speak to you very soon. I trust you will make your availability known to me, yes?

Correspondence / Letter sent to Herald Hill
December 30, 2023, 07:55:17 PM
[An envelope smelling of oud and other exorbitant perfumes arrives... somewhere... carried off by an orange bandana-wearing refugee.]

Adar 30th, IY 7787

Herald Hill,

For your full services as a personal herald and full-time employee of my newspaper, al-Hamdan Herald, I will pay you a five thousand dinar commission (a Voice!). However, I can not give you a wage presently, unless your work is so extraordinary that a wage may be earned through promotions and bonuses. Alternatively, I can give you a starting weekly wage of about, let's say, four-hundred instead of the lump sum of five-thousand.

What do you say? Will you become a proud employee of the Well's finest paper?

Correspondence / Chief Scribe [DM]
December 28, 2023, 08:50:26 PM
[An extravagant envelope finds it way into the offices of the Scribes of the Sublime Garden, addressed to the Chief Scribe alone.]

Adar 28th, IY 7787

Chief Scribe,

There is a recent controversy in Ephia's Well. Some say I am not allowed to be the Magistrate for Legate Domhnall Guivarch, some say I am-- which is it? I would like you to clarify.

Suggestions / Light Hammer proposed buff
December 25, 2023, 02:57:11 PM
Light Hammers stand out as by far the worst weapon in the entire game with an astonishingly low 1d4 damage die, a pitiful x2 crit modifier, and a pathetic threat range of 20. They've been changed from Martial to Simple proficiency, but I think even then nobody in their right mind would use one.

I propose that they be buffed to have an interesting niche in the game.

They could possibly occupy the same place as a dagger, but as a bludgeoning version, being added to Rogue proficiencies and being given the threat range of 19-20.

Alternatively, for a more fun change, they could be changed to Exotic proficiency and given a crit modifier of x4 while retaining the same damage die and threat range. It'd be a miniature, one-handed scythe which I think would be very funny.

Suggestions / Mace to be Martial
December 25, 2023, 02:50:54 PM
Since light flails have been moved from Martial Proficiency to Simple Proficiency, I think there's no real need for two 1d6 bludgeoning weapons that both crit at exactly x2 with a threat range of 20. It's sort of redundant and I think maces are too cool of weapons to be this sucky.

I propose that maces be moved from Simple Proficiency to Martial Proficiency and to occupy a space as the bludgeoning version of a hand-axe as a 1d6 bludgeoning weapon that crit at x3 with a threat range of 20.

[An envelope smelling of oud and perfume finds itself at the hands of an official of Frostport...]

Adar 22th, IY 7787

Jarls & Thanes of Frostport,

I write to you today to warn you of an incoming attack on your beloved realm by a terrible beastly Djinn known as "The Snorf". It is an utterly impervious, self-regenerating monster of grand proportions with great big tusks and deep dark skin of a sanguine sheen. It is a terror that will wreak havoc in your city... ordinarily!

However! We are prized friends, and so we will make sure no harm comes to your beloved city. In fact, we will be rid of the monster eternally and henceforth bring on the festivities in your wonderful city. Expect us to arrive with meats and gifts, and that we will put an end to this engorged imp!

Correspondence / Letter Sent to Clementine Hill
December 20, 2023, 03:28:58 PM
[A sumptuous envelope carried by an orange-bandana clad refugee finds itself in the halls of the Balladeers. When opened, an explosive cloud of gaudy perfumes assaults the reader's nostrils. It is addressed to Clementine Hill.]

Adar 20th, IY 7787

Herald Clementine Hill,

We have spoken about a possible employment contract as a personal herald, but I daresay your excellent journalism work makes me want to hire you as a reporter of the al-Hamdan Herald as well.

What do you say to a weekly salary of 250 dinar, with a chance for promotion & weekly bonuses on the terms that you work for both the paper and as my herald on retainer? That's almost double what you asked for. Confirm and I will send over a contract for you to sign.

[Many copies of this letter are circulated throughout the various forces of the Well, ferried off orange-bandana clad refugees, all fresh from the wastes.]

Adar 16th, IY 7787

Assorted officials, grunts, etc.,

I, as Vizier of the sublime Ephia's Well, our fine city beloved and adored, jewel of the Ash Desert, blanketed by the Shade, request you to make the following known loud and clear among your own:

The diplomatic congregation of Tlonsiyya shall soon arrive to Ephia's Well. Their coming shall certainly shock many of our denizens, but I ask that you all cooperate to ensure their visit shall be a pleasant one, unmarred by the now-distant disaster of al-Sayaadin's erstwhile Dwarf.

I ask that you inform your staff to let them through either the Gate of Roses, the Gate of Sands, and/or the Gate of Coin with no difficulty and no disrespect. I also ask that you maintain cordiality with the visitors and our denizens, making sure that the rude and boorish insolence of that exile, Ironbanner, does not stain our relations with the people of the great Hisar Tlonsiyya.

There may be the presence of a minotaur, an employee of their diplomat-and-businessman Raonn, a deep-dwarf of Lower Kulkund. There may also be a floating automaton, a guardian and protector of their chief-engineer, Shep. The ignorant masses may react to these things poorly— I ask that you help quell any would-be bubbles of trouble.
