Ultimately, this character bought the farm. Her desire to aid the Revolution set her on the path to exile, in the end, and in Lower Sanctuary, she had become truly desperate, and sought about doing whatever it took to survive. She ultimately had a moment of reflection that caused her to realize what sort of woman she had become or was on the verge of becoming, and took her own life...

Sharess did not welcome her into Her holy realm... and she was forced to wander the Fugue for all eternity... or surely was going to, if it wasn't for THIS happening:

Oh, and here are some other neat screenies.

Ladocicea has made an awesome opportunity for us players to participate in by creating this organization for us. While recruitment of some characters is best handled in-game, the ones just starting out fresh might have some concept behind it that you want to try out or discuss, and we can help with that.

Stop by #twerkmill, we'll see you there.

P.S. - DMs who want operator status in the chat, just let me know, aight

Fun character. Had a lot of hopes for said character. Had a lot of goals, too. Had a shitty build. Died a lot because she had a shitty build. Was laughed at for having a shitty build. Was pretty much dead-weight in any party because she had a shitty build.

No screenshots incoming.

Don't have much in the way of pictures, but I can tell you that I had a great deal of fun with this character! Politickin' hard, gettin' paid - I didn't ascend to acquire stupid amounts of gold like what others like Alphonse had, but I did have a blast.

Thanks go out to RwG, Meldread, dem budgies, and others who helped make this character a strong one. Now I must go enter my concept room and meditate.

Bug Reports / Summon Creature III - Illusions
September 13, 2013, 07:44:32 PM
The trickster demon summoned by Summon Creature III doesn't seem to attack no matter how you try to command it to do so (radial menu, voiceset, etc.) Every other summon in the set appears to be fine.

Hey everybody! So, yeah, your favorite clerk turned out to be a Sharran, with her focus mainly on the revenge and secret-mongering aspects of the goddess.

Her backstory was that she lost her voice due to a mugging gone terribly wrong, and well... this was the story that I wrote for Elmo's story contest.

Quote“You will know when the time is right, little one. The Dark Mother will show you a sign.” These were the last words Renée was given by her mentor. She never knew her mentor’s name, what her life story was, or how she came to worship Shar – Renée knew from the beginning that she probably would not be told any of these things. That didn’t matter, her mentor’s words were like a cool salve upon the halfling’s gaping wounds.

The cut that ran from the chin to the back of her neck, though closed, was perhaps the one that caused the most pain for the poor halfling. For it was that cut which stole what Renée had held most dear – her voice. Years ago, merchants and paupers alike flocked to where she performed; all were entranced by the sound of her voice, that silky alto singing of love and of better days than these. By all rights, Renée was lucky to be alive after the thug sliced her throat open so. The halfling certainly did not see it that way, however. To her, the man who mugged her and sliced open her throat when things didn’t go according to plan had sealed his own fate. Renée would have her revenge – it was only a matter of ‘when’.

Ultimately, the Dark Mother did show Renée a sign, or so Renée believed as the Darkening fell upon the whole of Toril. The world had gone mad and became consumed with strife with the devouring of Lathander’s light, and Selgaunt was no different. To paraphrase a certain poet, “Things were falling apart, the center could no longer hold - mere anarchy was loosed upon the world.”

The merchants of Sembia saw the writing on the wall and ordered their private guard forces to guard their palatial estates and most prized assets – the rest of the city was left to its own devices. Looting and bloodshed became a regular thing upon the streets of this once great city, and surely an opportunist like Renée’s mark would not pass up on something like this.
Sure enough, there he was – the man who claimed her voice many years ago, entering the ransacked jewelry store…

------------------------------------------

Darys looked through the many jewelry cases quickly, feeling around the felt bottom of one before moving on to the next. He eventually gave up on the jewelry cases and moved to a chest of drawers nearby, some of the drawers already yanked out from their resting place. Darys was about ready to give up – the place had already been picked bone dry by vultures just like him. Of course, it paid to be thorough; one could never be sure where treasures might be hiding, overlooked by amateurs that came before.

He ventured up the creaky stairs to what appeared to be the jeweler’s bedroom and resumed his search. He scoured the place, pausing only briefly upon hearing the stairs creak behind him. He looked behind him, before shrugging to himself. There was nothing there – perhaps he was merely being paranoid, imagining things…

He dug under the bed and suddenly found a gold chain. He held it close to his face, his eyes gleaming with avarice. A wide toothy smile, remarkably similar to a crocodile’s, dominated his face, before something struck him hard from behind, bludgeoning him on the head and sending him unconscious.

------------------------------------------

Renée silently waited for her captive to wake, savoring the smell of the pillaged wine cellar in the meantime. Pungent and pleasant aromas filled the room as broken bottles and spilled vintages littered the floor. Having waited for this moment for years, the halfling wasted no expense. The most secure chains she could find, a horse’s bridle fitted specially for his head – she sincerely hoped he would come to appreciate all the hard work she had gone to in order to make his final moments… special.

Darys began to stir, his chains rattling. Renée quickly straddled the human, setting down her pack, filled with numerous improvised tools of torture, before gazing long and hard into his brown eyes as they fluttered open. For a few long seconds, Darys merely looked at the halfling with confusion and bewilderment. Suddenly, it dawned on Darys who he was confronted with, and his eyes grew as wide as saucers upon recognition of the halfling’s face.

Renée merely smiled and set about her grisly work. Slowly, she began to remove the fingernails from his fingers, listening to the sounds of his muffled screams and savoring them like a fine wine. After the fingernails were all removed, she took the dagger from Darys’ pack, the very same dagger used to cut her throat long ago, and began to flay the man’s skin with it. Every attempt was made by Renée to prolong the man’s suffering for as long as she could. To any bystander unfortunate enough to bear witness to this cruel act of vengeance, it almost appeared intimate, in a sickening and perverse way. It almost appeared as though Renée was a long lost lover, returning to give the man she loved the affection she had bottled inside for so many years. But as every Sharran knows, love is a lie – it is only hate that endures. Renée’s own hate for the man who had taken what she loved the most did not simply endure, it became all of her.

Eventually, of course, Darys died. His pleading eyes eventually grew lifeless, and the last thing they would behold would be Renée’s icy smile and eyes burning slowly with all-consuming wrath. As all of Toril began to crumble and fall to pieces, law and order giving way to madness and chaos, light to darkness, Renée found herself at peace.

Anyhow, my goal was to have her become prefect, and even though her scheme to blackmail Castling into making her so failed, she intended to forge a document suggesting Edgin Crane and Penelope Castling were doing the nasty and plotting against the Spellguard.

Oh well, I got away with a lot of other things! Some of which I can talk about or are featured in the screenshots and some of which I can't.

For those who are unaware, the halfling mute got her start as a mime and then decided to start her own newspaper, the Sanctuary Scribe. Pretty excellent way to gather information, which she hoarded and used to her own advantage. It did mean she ended up in rather unpleasant situations for the sake of chasing down a story...

... like here...

... and also here!

She worked to get herself in a position of power, and saw the best way to do that was to work her way up the ladder in the Civil Service. The position she coveted the most, that of a prefect, she was often within arm's reach towards grabbing, yet she ultimately found herself beaten back when a plan of hers backfires! Here's her trying to win over the support of Ma Murik in her first bid.

Outside of meetings with the Directorate, Clerk Greystarred got into meetings with other sorts, many of which take on a remarkably ironic twist, now.

She also got herself in a lot of trouble, including... oh, wait, yeah. This she was actually in on, sort of. Whoops.

Sexy Howl loot.

Sexy BOM loot.

Uh.. gee, thanks Munt. I can... I can surely make use of this.

Now, atmospheric shots!

Catch you all on the flip!

No longer getting the much-needed gold-per-tics on my character, for one reason or another.

Hey guys! Got a politically-minded character who really wants to get deeply involved in the inner workings of the Directorate, the gubment, and similar stuff? Does being a soulless bureaucrat appeal to you greatly? What about serving as defense counsel or prosecutor for some big trial? Do you want to be a judge and wear a silly wig and a tiny gavel?

If any of these questions is a resounding "yes", think about sending in an application to serve as a part of the Civil Service! It's a pretty awesome association/faction with some of the best perks for any faction ever. Also there's a lot of subtle intrigue that few ever get to see that we involve ourselves in. So jump on in and take part in the fun.

Think about it. This could be YOU!

Gotham made one of these threads back during EfU:M and I have to say, it was a really great idea to have such a thread - given the focus people have on one character at a time, they might have an idea for a concept along the way and not be able to play it because of an existing character or lack of time. Here are my own ideas:

* Worminger's union. This one is a group concept. This would be a small bunch of especially vocal wormingers who advocate for greater pay along with guarantees of safety for this dangerous line of work that feeds many of the people of Sanctuary. They're sure to butt heads with the status quo, and should they be cast out for it, they can easily become a gang in Lower with some worm-based name, or even better, perhaps they harbor a desire to see real social change up in Upper as they radicalize slowly but surely...

* Neo-Gondite priest. You arrive in Sanctuary with a heavy heart and doubts about your faith. Then you hear of the Machine and of its power and your spirit rises... Could it be? Is Gond really dead or has he become reborn as the perfect creation, a marvel combining metal and magic? Yes, it is so! It is Gond's divinity that lives within the Machine, it is Gond reborn that provides the Shield and thus the salvation of mankind! You eagerly set about spreading the word and seeing to it that the great machine is working properly and as it should. Great concept for would-be Auxiliaries.

Bug Reports / Buggy Transition out of Mausoleum
July 15, 2013, 12:14:14 AM
The door leading out of the Mausoleum appears to be buggy. Some people can exit it, clearly, I've seen two people do it. But others seem unable to do it.

Edit: Probably has to do with rings of sanctuary. Being dead, it got removed from me.

Bug Reports / New Characters Listed as Old
July 14, 2013, 11:34:44 PM
I got sent to the Fugue after dying in the Ventilation Shaft quest. I tried to respawn, with no success. The NPC gave me an 'expressionless gaze' and then that was it. No options, no anything. OOC yellowtext explained that I was an old character and that respawning was disabled for me. From what I have seen, a lot of new characters have this problem as well.

Yes, he was a Cyricist. Yes, he's dead now. Sorry to those who just jumped on the bandwagon with me, but I want you to know what few interactions I did have with you, I really enjoyed!

Cheers!

People have always asked me what it is I do in my spare time. What I do is, simply put, is work that is blessed by the gods. The Lord of Spells champions those who put work into their practice of the Art, and ensures they and their friends always receive the just reward they deserve for all the time they have put into research of the arcane and the study of dweomers.

Everyone knows that. Little is it known, however, that the Lord of Spells also serves as the Patron of Alchemists, as all who participate in the most sacred study of the elements and the transmutation of one into another endeavor to make the unknown known, and construct order from chaos, peaceful stasis from that which ultimately typifies change...

There are three items that all alchemists worthy of the name try to create through their study of the craft. These are the philosopher's stone, the azoth, and the alkahest.

The philosopher's stone is, of course, the most well known of the three 'magnum opuses', or 'great works', in alchemy. The stone is capable of granting everlasting life to its possessor, and allows for a substance or element to be changed into another with little effort or energy involved. To craft the philosopher's stone, it is rumored that four steps are required.

The first among these is "nigredo", "the blackening" - without first studying how men and women age during life itself... and the nature of decomposition and the breaking down of life by nature after death's knell, how can immortality be achieved? It simply cannot be done.

The second step is "albedo", "the whitening" - after nigredo takes its toll, the stench of death must be cleansed from the firmament, and absolution and purification must take place. Often involved is the separation of the soul into light and dark spheres. What is left is something that gleams brightly in the moonlit sky of Selûne - silver...

The third step is known as "citrinitas"... what is white takes on a yellowish hue, and the yellowness turns the silver slowly into what will soon be gold. But we are not finished yet.

The fourth step involves blood, which is compulsory in all transmutation at one point or another. "Rubedo", represents the fusion of spirit and body, and what appears to be gold truly BECOMES gold.

Of course, few have managed to make the philosopher's stone a reality. More often than not, many alchemists who desire to achieve immortality for themselves through use of the philosopher's stone give up and lose patience, instead accepting an easier path towards 'immortality', even if it is not true immortality - lichdom.

Some alchemists do not seek immortality for themselves, however, but instead seek to better the health of all within a society. These selfless individuals pursue not the philosopher's stone, but instead chase after the azoth (not to be confused with the most holy name of the Lord of Spells). The azoth is a cure for all magical maladies, the universal cure to all of Talona's worst, the mender of wounds long past hope of tending to. The azoth I seek to hopefully heal the bedridden boy-king with, should the Wyrm Watchers (who I have yet to join) allow me to.

I also seek it as a means by which to lift the Withering curse upon those affected by H'Bala's madness. But that is not the ultimate weapon in the fight against the Maiden. Rather, that is the alkahest - the universal solvent. The ultimate solution to a realm consumed by filth, a means by which to clean the soil and return the lands to normalcy... the negative energy affecting the lands would be themselves negated and the taint in the land would be dissolved as balance is restored...

Hey, guys! While I know it's customary to end with a bang and not a whimper, but I'm honestly not sure about the idea of playing a bard who is so much of an outcast that she's unable to get a crowd together to perform for. Honestly, what's happened to Jackie serves as a pretty fine endgame anyway, and I'm rather surprised the character has lasted for as long as it has. So I'm happy with the character and how they turned out.

Now, for the screenshots.

Those are perhaps the best ones I have. Anyhow. T'was a good show, ladies and gentlemen, and watch carefully for my next character.
