Dear Players,

Over the past few months there has been a mongrel war plot ongoing, which on Saturday May 21st at approx 9-10pm GMT there shall be a SERVER WIDE event to potentially conclude it....

This event will require a few things:

Please only log on to attend the event itself.
The server will be reduced in size to accommodate the numbers and hopefully reduce lag.
I will of course allow PC's who are "in ring" to return to attend, please let me know ahead of time if this is you as I'll need to reset your spawn.
It will NOT be a PERMADEATH event, however there may be instances based on PC choices that could potentially end your character (you will be warned before making them if this is on the cards).

Streaming will be allowed and if you wish to be the one to stream it, please contact me directly.

Anyone involved in this plot currently I will highly recommend making the time to attend.

Timings may yet move slightly depending on a few variables but for now assume this date and time will be the case.

Any questions please feel free to contact me.

Announcements / PLEASE READ: Diction and EFU
April 03, 2022, 06:53:55 PM
This is an important post regarding In-Character Diction, Language, and Slang in EfU

Lately the DM team has noticed an uptick in IC conversation styles that we don't find appropriate for our setting. We really want to encourage people to be expressive and enjoy their roleplay on our server, but that includes following a certain spirit of EfU.

Please consider these recommendations as a courtesy to other players who already value this spirit and find clashing choices of diction immersion-breaking, and because participating with these recommendations in mind is valuable to the integrity and quality of the gameworld.

The primary culprit is the use of contemporary slang by PCs. Words and phrases such as "cool" "whack" "bummed out"  "dude" used icly are really not appropriate for the setting we play within.

Whilst it is absolutely great to find a niche way to express your pc's individuality, perhaps considering the question "is this something I would hear in a LOTR movie or ASOIAF?" If the answer is "No" then perhaps it is wiser to find a more thematic alternative.

Thanks in advance and remember that the Efu DM team demands maximum satisfaction.

Announcements / Prelude: Things that Lurk in the Forest
February 22, 2022, 10:29:41 PM
Good day players,

As I've been able to return to dming more actively lately I have decided to run a plot that will impact the entire server in one way or another.

Whilst I'm not willing to divulge too much information publicly. I would like to invite roughly 5 players who are looking for a CHALLENGE.

This prelude, will require you making a quick application for a mongrelman (any kind you wish) to be a part of a group of outcasts working towards a goal.

You will have the perks of a small base of operations, starting equipment and such and be involved in an actively dmed plot line.

It will no doubt be PVP intense, yet very rewarding if you are able to survive.

Please contact me directly with questions on discord, I would like to begin this prelude on the Sunday coming, times TBC.

Adios

Announcements / Scraggleways Gangsters Prelude
March 08, 2021, 07:48:32 PM
All,

There is going to be a prelude tomorrow for some gangster types based out of ring 99.

It'll be ideal for petty street gangwar style concepts.

It is due to commence at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

I have 6 players already but I am accepting a few more if you would like to play in this! I'm not looking for throwaway pcs really. But you will be receiving some basic starting loot and xp.

PM me on discord if you would like to be involved.

My name is Equinox

Apparently my levels of pretending to be an evil overlord have qualified me to be an  EFU DM

See you all IG!

Wow EFU.. Bravo.

After an extended break, I came back to learn we can create our own faiths now! I thought this was incredibly cool so set out to give it a whirl..

Enter: Jeremiah Dupris, and the Faith of the Timeless One. A God I'm sure you'll all soon read about as we successfully achieved bringing him into being as a small god of EFU!

First and Foremost: A Thank you to all the DM's and Players involved, you're all rockstars in my eyes and it was a hell of a ride.

Special mention to the players of Ioannis Basiliscus and Aiseth Corvus. My ride or dies. We we out BIG!

Now for the cool screenshots!

I converted a total of 7 PC's to the faith of the Timeless One:

Sacrificed a couple of them as well.. It's dangerous being in an evil cult folks!

We got our first glimpse of our Patron.. In a ritual then went horribly wrong! Leaving us with the bones of our god.. Unresponsive..

We freed an ancient Undying Warlord:

Investigated the Pallid Prince and his work:

Murdered some interfering Paladins:

Destroyed the Recondite Golem, and Massacred their numbers:

And finally, tried to complete a ritual atop the Ziggurat of 95, to raise the Timeless One into being.

Some gnomes stopped us... Or so they thought...

With his work done, Jeremiah passes into the next life:

Keep being awesome EFU.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="4"]Jaezril Baen'dar
Drow Corsair of the Drow Armada[/SIZE]
[/FONT]

Jaezril Baen'dar was my first attempt at playing a Drow PC. A devout of Vhaeraun, Jaezril believed that the Matriarchal society of the Drow race was a joke, a error during creation that needed correcting. When the fall of Traensyr to the Dread Empire occurred, Jaezril began to realise the opportunity to reshape the future of his race. He envisaged a drow empire lead by a patriarchy, where Lloth was considered a failure and all drow would flourish once more.

Little known fact, Jaezril was a homosexual and found the male form both aesthetically pleasing and aided in his personality of viewing men as superior.

I wrote a story for AMB's contest, explaining his early history and how his hatred for the females of his race came to pass.

[hide=The Rise of a Patriarch]I remember it like it was yesterday, nearly a hundred years have passed since, but the memory is etched into front of my mind as though my eyes were witnessing the events of that fateful dark in action. The day I chose to liberate myself from the oppression of my subordinates, not by social standing, but by natural selection.

Females; their very existence only required for the birth of children, if not for the need for our race to breed inter-sexually to survive we would be far better off. I have heard that some races simply reproduce asexually, if only we had such a luxury. Somehow, somewhere back in our history the Dhaerow progenitors decided that woman would take precedence over man. That those of weaker body, and erratic mind sets would be the better leaders. Lloth be damned, the spider queen gave to us nothing but a slow decline, allowed our leaders to become enthralled and our race left in tatters. We float on a ship, an Armada adrift the dark lake and for what? The scraps of an island that we must enlist the aid of vile, ugly and pathetic races to sweep clean so we may once more rebuild? A sick joke, and a reminder of why I did what I did.

Each strike of the lash burned my skin as the tiny little barbs that the priestesses favoured in their whips found traction upon my luxuriously perfect skin. Each time I refused to make a sound, one further insult to their sadistic desires. Each time I winced, for the pain was truly something to beholden, and yet I still gave them nothing. Dhaerow do not show pain, Dhaerow do not grant mercy, Dhaerow do not bend nor break. It was these three lines I kept repeating in my head, over and over as the barbs tore into my flesh. It was sometime during this however, that I found myself enduring a moment of clarity. One small, ringing tone at the far reaches of my conciousness that came in steadily after my sentence. “Why do you allow it?”.

Why indeed, what had I done aside from quietly suffer as many of my brothers before me at the hands of our mistresses and their matrons? Womenfolk, with their soft curvaceous bodies designed to increase to hormones of men, to make us pliant to their whims in the hope that they will allow us to mate with them. Womenfolk, with their sultry wiles and abilities to make even the sturdiest of males weak with the flutter of eyelashes and soft soothing tones the mask the truth. The truth that they were never meant to be our superiors, the truth that in some fell tip of the dice or some supernatural mistake during our creation that has never been corrected.

It is blessed then, that I must’ve been to see nothing in them, to find no libido or drive to strip them bare and caress the soft flesh of a woman with my hands and mouth. It is with this blessing that I saw the one undeniable truth, that the form of a male was perfect. From the strengthened bodies and larger limbs, to the lack of breasts allowing swifter reactions across their torso’s. There is not part of a female that could outperform a man of our race, save for their one graceful ability to birth the future.

So as the final lash landed, I forced myself to stand. Rising from servitude, rising anew with a purpose that to my knowledge, none before me could boast in the same manner. The barbs tore deep, forcing me to fight the waves of crippling pain, and yet I endured. Turning to face my oppressor, without word of warning, without mercy, without a single moment of hesitation fore I knew that there was no turning back I drew my blade and lunged forward with all the speed in my body.

I looked down, down upon the broken female at my feet, as the last few breaths escaped her mouth. I twisted the point of my rapier further into her heart, smiling upon the fledgling priestess as the lash rolled free from her now lifeless grasp. Her dark eyes a mixture of confusion, pain and fear. Fear of a male, fear of one who no longer would bow and scamper, fear of one who now enlightened with vision of the future to come would be forced to depart a home that he despised so strongly.

I knew though, that this would not go un-noticed or indeed unpunished, and despite my victory. The worst would now come, they say that in order to see dreams become reality, you must sacrifice. Whoever said that was not wrong, for despite my hatred for this city and it’s rulers, my departure remains the easiest sacrifice I have ever made. A Dhaerow, born with the looks and charm to boast a position as a House Matron’s mate, with the flair for swordplay that rivals the greatest of our nation. To turn and flee from Traensyr, many would declare maddened or cursed, but one man’s curse is another’s gift. It was this day that I accepted who I was, that I realised to hide one’s true nature is indeed a talent worth having, but to deny it to oneself? That is folly.

Still clothed in my tunic, with only my sword to hip I did what any respectable fugitive would. I departed the tower with the black blood of my now deceased former-oppressor still fresh upon my blade, I lied, oh how I lied. My tongue could have been cast from solid silver that day for even the most inquisitive of citizens did not keep me from my swift movements. As I hurried away, the scenes of not minutes before replayed over and over in my head, I felt fear, fear of what I had done, fear of whether it was the right choice, fear of repercussions. Though despite the fear, one emotion swallowed my doubt and granted me the strength to continue onwards, one emotion that presided over my entire body, right through to my very soul. Relief. Like the disgusting slave humans who once escaped our pits must have felt, the success of my actions, the freedom my entire form yearned for as the surface flower yearns for the sun. I was free to do as I was born to, exiting the gates of that accursed city was nothing but refreshing, like passing through a cold cavern waterfall, I felt myself unburdened of taint and dirt.

Now I sit upon the prow of this ship, afloat the Dark Lake that I have called home for near enough a century and I ponder that day, I question what it was that allowed me to ignore that which has kept so many before myself from coming to the same conclusions. So many questions, so few answers. Although, with the same sword now stained in the blood of another female this time of House Kenep. I feel not the same fear I once did all those years ago, I do not question myself or my motives as I once did. “The fatherhood rises” I speak, not loud enough for all to hear but enough that my voice trembles across the waves. A promise to myself, and to others like me. Patriarchy is coming.[/hide]

[hide=He Made Allies][/hide]

[hide=And enemies, mostly within his own race][/hide]

[hide=He participated in some server moving events][/hide]

[hide=Even his former allies were not safe from his brutal schemes][/hide]

[hide=He "employed" people too][/hide]

I had a blast. Despite a few ooc time constraints, I have to give props to all my fellow Drow players. But also a huge round of applause to Howland for such an epic opportunity. And to AMB for some amazing immersion RP.

I had loot, screenies but unfortunately didn't save so I guess that's lost to the ages.

Keep on rocking EFU!

Suggestions / Cleric Converting Player Tool
November 23, 2013, 09:08:19 AM
So a topic came up in IRC today about converting people in game. And it was discussed that the amulets we used to have (whilst subject to some abuse and probably way too powerful for this stage of efu) did have a very useful part to play in clerical RP.

Converting people to your faith as a cleric is probably your number one goal. And yet it can be a hassle changing faiths for PC's trying to get in touch with a DM to make alterations, (plus it does save effort for the DM team too!).

I suggest that a player tool be implemented under the same rules of the amulets. (can only convert faith twice on a pc). Allowing clerics to RP and instantly alter the deity of a PC they successfully convert. Perhaps this could even be scripted to show the names of each pc converted by said cleric so the DM's can see who is being proactive (because every little helps).

Something I personally, being a fan of good cleric RP would love to see is more clerics battling it out to convert people to their faiths and I think this might add an incentive.

Thoughts?

So my first serious pc in a good while, a high pvp concept involving the destruction of elves and dwarves.

Ragfurix was a Bugbear Warskald, who upon loosing his tribe at the hands of elves on the surface, found himself in the underdark hunting for survival.

He came across the Mound of Magnatz, and swore to serve the Mighty Magnatz the RED and bring him tributes of elf ears, dwarf beards and blood.

His huge weakness was that he would mindlessly attack elves and dwarves on sight, his hatred for them both being somewhat unrivalled. Even if outnumbered or obviously set up. Alas, it was his downfall.

A few screenies!

Some neat loot! (and RwG being a jackass)

And finally my friends

Goblin Ways, Strong.

Suggestions / [Call Lightning, Now Useless?]
August 21, 2013, 07:02:22 AM
So during my daily procrastinating at work, it sprung to mind that the spell "Call Lightning" and the mechanics changes that were made for our rise to the surface back in EFU:A now render this spell obsolete.

Seeing as it must be raining for you to call lightning, and it never rains in the UD perhaps it might be possible to alter it back to its original form and emote it as falling stalagmites or some equivalent?

General Discussion / Climbing Information Pack
July 19, 2013, 06:06:07 PM
Climbing
There are several types of climbing systems in the game, each listed below.
[hide=Transition Climbing:]
Quite simply as it says, click on a transition. Make a climbing check and climb up or slip down.[/hide]
[hide=Player Tool Climbing:]
This is the first method of climbing the many scalable cliffs/towers/walls in EFU:R. Simply go to player tools and select the climbing tool. Then when stood closely to the placeable or area you wish to climb up to or down to, click the player tool at the surface and attempt to climb. (Note: the check is harder to represent climbing with your hands).[/hide]
[hide=Rope Climbing:]
With the use of a rope, even the weakest or heaviest of adventurers can scale to their destination. In order to use a rope you must purchase one and place it using the rope on the surface. (Note: you can only lower ropes, so no climbing upwards without an ally lowering the rope down for you!)[/hide]
[hide=Climbing Claw:]
A claw enables players to swiftly move up and down cliffs or other placeables, using it in the same way as the player tool with the item property. It is easier to climb with a claw than using the player tool.[/hide]
[hide=Grappling Gun/Hook + Rope:]
The final form of climbing, horizontal movement. A new implementation for EFU:R, players can now use this feature to cross chasms and rivers at certain places. Used in a similar way to the claw with an item property, firing the grappling gun across the opening you wish to climb will allow you to move to harder to reach (in some cases, impossible to reach!) places.[/hide]

Argent Castryn The Betrayer

Well, so much fun was had on this one pc, who i originally created as a thug for Crytalos' pirate concept. A few nudges and DM quest betrayals led me to a route I never expected to take!

Major kudos and thanks to Core and WcSherry for all the plot stuff you ran, and to my homies Canzah, Perroy, Huntsman and the rest of you.

Oh, and to RwG for reminding me that in efu even scrubs can bring down the tyrants. ;)

For all the other screenshots including loots and stuff.

Zu'kal Otahkambe, Shadow-Warden of the Eshowe

Well, that's all folks! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and for such a heavily antagonist concept I think we had a pretty good run.

Some massive thanks to the DM team: Core, Paha, Howland, Elmo in particular. Couldn't have done half the awesome stuff we did without your involvement!

And of course a huge round of applause for my partner in crime Canzah, and you others who we recruited over the time of this concept. You're all great, keep rocking.

I'll be around with a new concept soon enough, till then you stay classy efu.

Screenies:

The Shadow Warden

Big ass PvP

Torturing Axirios

Putting the Ettin in his place

The Trial of Eshowdow

I converted some folks

We captured a lot of people, we just wanted friends!

Alexander Gaelfrey was a concept that I made on a whim, looking for something to do and decided it'd be fun to join Aberdenn as a simple Mistlockian Lumberjack.

He began as a simple lumberjack with an unquestionable loyalty to his friends and a real problem with bullies and arrogant people. during his journey he became known as a formidable axeman, soon working his way up to Armsman of the clan. Fighting off half the village, defeating a Ruby in a duel, escaping the Mad Kings Oubliette and much more.

Eventually his downfall was in the form of a cursed stave, containing a netherese sorceress who tricked him into loving her and confounding his mind. He ended up completely lost, seeking help from nefarious people such as a cleric of Myrkul he once named brother.

In the end he was converted to a Nightriser to serve the Warden of Nezbuddos, after completely loosing himself to the control of Elioum Trin.

Thanks to many, though in particular: Canzah, Sponduli, Halfbrood, ShadowCharlatan, All and any Aberdenn PCs with whom it was a pleasure to play!

Screenshots in no particular order are attached tot he link below! I lost a lot due to a bug, but alas I will post my two of my favorites here and you can view the rest to avoid junking up the forum too much.. Enjoy!

Tavok Fael'raen

Well, where to start. I suppose with thanking RwG, for convincing me to join him, getting me involving in the conclave. And then summarily dying on me the day before we are to bond... Typical!

Regardless, I continued, bonded with two separate Caliphars in my time, earned the Weaponmaster PrC in the spear from my main homedawg Drexia and various other cool achievements.

Tavok was a half-elf former drow slave. He spent many years stuck in the underdark fighting at the entertainment of the creatures below. He had a passionate hatred for anything from there. He was a Devout of Shar to begin, though converted to Bhaal later in his time.

I didn't get many screenies, as they seem to have dissapeared! However here are a few.

Sacrificng peeps to Bhaal,

So evil.. So so evil.. Tavok the MALEFACTOR

Rolling deep with some old school homies.

And I don't always post loot, but this was my baby. A little used, but so awesome. Thanks to Johannes for the Drexia training and this badboy.

Peace out

Ivan goal was to become as one with the mist, that which he believed was the corporeal representation of the Spirit. As a Monk and Scholar he wrote extensively about his training, and theories on the Mist. Travelled the lands, searching for missing order/mist lore and fighting H'balan forces at each turn.

Once he achieved his goal, his new aim was to spread word fo the Numinous Order, merging them into "Mist Prophecies" and attempting to convince people to join them, fight their enemies, and more.

But he has now passed on.

Here are some of the screenshots I got, (not many, most of them bugged it seems).

Thanks to all pcs I interacted with, and Special note to Jaydemoon who ran my Mist Expereinces. Keep on rockin' friends.

Merry Christmas!

Hope you all have a great day and celebrate in style!

Well that's all folks!

Kudos to the brotherhood, and various other pcs! Also to Derf and various other dm's for making my pc part of the Gnoll tribe.

He spent well over a month under the guise of a paladin, then a paladin in training, before finally blowing his cover to eat someone in order to join the Gnoll Tribe in the foothills as a brother.

I didn't expect quite such a quick end but EFU is rough and Cyric gets no breaks.

Anyways, screenies!

Right after the speech on leading the crusade against the EVIL CYRICISTS!

Attempting to make people convert to cyric after eating bits of one of them to joint he gnoll tribe

I didn't manage to capture a lot! which is a shame, but thanks to all of you!
