Announcements / Going off
December 17, 2009, 01:43:20 AM
It has been a good time playing and DMing on EFU and EFU:A, but it is the time for me to take a break and go off for a while, not sure when I will be back, though I am not burnt out or anything like that if anyone is wondering, the server just stopped being fun and interesting for me lately. When I feel like playing and DMing again, I will very likely be back, though I will still be doing forum stuff whenever it is needed.

Anyhow, have fun and enjoy the server. Oh and Merry Christmas, everyone.

Announcements / Slave auction
October 01, 2009, 01:29:16 AM
I may be holding some sort of a slave auction event soon, players interested in playing a slave PC (preferably as their main) should PM me on the forums with their concepts, when they are free and so on. NPC slaves will be offered too, it will be different than previous auctions due to the current situation in the Colony though.

Announcements / New minor Ixpadian faction
September 07, 2009, 09:25:53 AM
There will now be a new minor DM supported faction for those who support Queen Ixpadia and her forces, it will focus around espionage and reconnaissance. Due to that as well, it is best that interested players contact me on IRC before applying.

QuoteUnspecified Ixpadian faction

Faction Requirements:

    * Application required.

Recommendations:

    * Classes: Non-Paladin, non-Druid. Every other Class is fine but preferably something linked to what the faction is about.
    * Races: Non-Monstrous Races, non-Elves. Preferably Human.
    * Alignments: Preferably non-Good, non-Lawful.

Suggestions / New Weapons for EFU:A
August 07, 2009, 10:14:15 AM
It is definitely not of high importance or priority, but is it at all possible to add new weapons to the server without the use of Hak files? I think it would add quite a lot if new weapons are added. For example: mauls, one-handed spears, javelins (that actually can be thrown), falchions, etc and basically any weapon that makes sense for the setting and is easy to implement.

Note: These weapons should not have their own weapon type though or they will end up like the trident and lance. A maul should perhaps use the halberd as its weapon type and so on. (Assuming this suggestion is feasible.)

Introduction

Originally written thirty three years ago. Flamerule 2nd, Year 1342.

The arcane school of Necromancy is notoriously known
by most as a dark art that delves solely into the despicable concept of desecrating the dead, animating their remains for questionable purposes and prolonging one's life beyond it's time through the use of dark rituals. Yet this is preposterously far from the truth, while it is a clear certainty that a darker  aspect to this School of Magic exists, the same is to be said of "the Art" itself.

Magic in the hands of the foolish, the capricious and the depraved will always be a force of destruction and chaos that will cause untold harm when left unopposed. Necromancy is no exception, evil may come of it, but much good may as well.

With spells of this school, one may easily strip away the life force of a twisted murderer, a cruel slaver or far worse beings and weaken them greatly or simply slay them. And further studies in this field will greatly aid one in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each and every undead being, which results in more effective methods in combating them.

At the meantime, there is nothing insidious in the use of negative energy by itself, the act of using it is precisely similar to that of an Evoker harnessing the power of energy, be it elemental or otherwise to weave certain spells or a Transmuter manipulating the physical properties of some creature, thing, or condition to cast transmutations.
It may be for good or ill, depending on the actions and intentions of the caster.

And one must be aware that there are actually undead beings that remain among the living for benevolent purposes, such beings have forsaken death for some manner of significant duty and their continued existence are blessed and guided by certain divine entities of whom we may trust. Although it must be noted that this is an extremely rare happening.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Grunor Tordukr
March 22, 2009, 12:26:06 PM
Well, Grunor is gone. He did not receive the death that I would had liked, but it has been fun and he did last longer than many of my recent characters. In fact, he lasted for a month at least!

He was basically a Dwarven thug that worshiped Abbathor, the Dwarven God of Avarice and he enjoyed killing, acquiring wealth and plunder, and he had no qualms on using whatever means necessary to enjoy such. Turned out to be quite fun and I enjoyed my time with all that Grunor allied with, and those he opposed.

Anyway, here are some screenshots.

Standing guard outside of the "Touch of Class" in the Docks.

His Duergar full-plate, it was found deep below within the treacherous Sunken Enclave.

His Orcish helmet, which was found after killing a large horde of wild orcs.

Posing heroically as a petrified piece of stone in the depths of the Underdark, near to the ruins of Dunwarren.

Suggestions / Gray Guard (the concept of it)
February 05, 2009, 09:09:50 AM
I do not want to be seen as a whiner who complains when DMs create new stuff for the server, all these new stuff are great and in fact I find the general concept of the Gray Guard Prestige Class to be interesting, the class should definitely remain, but I feel that it would have much more potential if the idea of it is changed. This PrC should not be for Paladins, but instead for other classes like Fighters, Rangers, and the like. Perhaps not for good aligned PCs as well.

The PrC as it is takes away from the challenging experience of playing a Paladin, and it seems quite unnecessary, Paladins can still fight evil well enough while sticking to their code, even though its a challenge.

At the meantime, the Gray Guard is too ineffective for its own good, and it makes no sense. On IRC some argue that the Guard will not be going against the paladin code often, and if they do, they must have an excellent reason behind it to atone for it or turn fallen in time. How then will they be effective? And this basically makes the Class little different than Paladins. Why can't Paladins be given the same opportunity to atone as well? (not that i am a fan of that, unless it is made difficult to do) On the other hand there are some (including me before) who think that the Class is more extreme than that. If that is the case, then the Guard would have already gone too far beyond the code.

In the end, it seems to me that all the Guard adds to the Paladin is a different flavor, and style. Though the same can be said for some other PrC's for other Classes (those are fine in my opinion), yet would it not be much more awesome and fun if the Guard is taken to the next level?

The Gray Guard should be the epitome of a warrior who has seen too much evil in the world, and who fights to destroy it all, regardless of the means, regardless of the path he must walk to face them. They should not be chained by the Paladin code, and the need to atone at every turn. Their alignment probably should not be good aligned as well, but neutral, or so, to represent the means they use. Mechanically, I think they are fine.

Off-topic Discussion / NWN/PC technical problems
January 29, 2009, 02:38:39 AM
When I played Neverwinter Nights, it kept flickering, and crashes every 5 to 20 minutes, or longer if i am lucky. I just formatted my PC and changed to Vista yesterday, but the problem remained. Anyway I took the video card out, and change to an older one, it has worked fine so far, other than one single crash which looked different than the typical problem.

The ORIGINAL setup that crashes:

Intel Xeon X3350 (@2.66ghz)
Gigabyte EP35-DS4 (Rev 2.1)
Gigabyte 650W PSU
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX (2x2GB)
Asus 8800GTS 512MB
Windows Vista Business 32bit

Note: I have tried the same setup with Windows XP Professional 32bit, same problems.

The TEMPORARY setup (seems to work):

Intel Xeon X3350 (@2.66ghz)
Gigabyte EP35-DS4 (Rev 2.1)
Gigabyte 650W PSU
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX (2x2GB)
Winfast 7600 GT
Windows Vista Business 32bit

Does anyone else here use a powerful/or similar computer to play NWN, and have no problems? Please post the specs of your PC here.

And please post if you are aware of this problem.

Suggestions / Talos domains should give Call Lightning
January 22, 2009, 05:41:21 AM
I think that it makes complete sense for Clerics of Talos to receive the spell Call Lightning from their god's domains. This can be done by giving Talos the air domain, or maybe a domain should be edited/or a new one made to add the spell, if it does not take much effort. It would be strange if clerics of gods like Auril, Akadi, and Aerdrie Faenya may call upon lightning, but not Talosians.

Bug Reports / Paladin Quest likely bugged
November 17, 2008, 12:00:37 PM
The Paladin only quest that can only been done a single time given by Brother Samael Lashneveous seems to work fine, but the door within is locked and there seems to be no key to open it with, so currently there is no reward at all other than the quest ending's XP.

Though if it is meant to be like this, instead of a bug, then nevermind!
