Correspondence / Letter for Colmes
March 28, 2024, 04:32:38 PM
Lt. Colmes, Warmaster,

you have requested that a letter be written to you instead of nagging the ears of the residents, and so I will.

I don't think we've ever had much opportunity to interact or introduce ourselves, but I think my actions speak for me. So as some of your Sergeants can testify, I am not only a Recluta della Banda, but a loyal devotee of Agaslakku. Some of them have already tasted how sharp my axe is, and how clear my heart in battle.

I am writing to you because I want a seat on the War Council, and I have no intention of going through a rigid hierarchy of superiors whose favours I have to gain, nor of waiting for the faint hope of being able to speak to you, but I am writing to you directly!

Some of the representatives of the Rose are perhaps not sufficiently accustomed to war. Others are perhaps more interested in glory than in victory. But la Banda makes war the founding part of its success story. And among the various Recluta, a priest of Agaslakku brings, along with ardour, something fundamental to victory: the wisdom of knowing when and how to fight.

I understand we don't really know each other, so you could take this letter of mine and crumple it up before throwing it into the fire. But if you understand the value of wisdom in battle, I invite you to ask about me. Seek out your Sergeant Ashworth, seek out our Balestriere Tuscanzi, seek out my brothers in arms. If their answers fit your expectations, grant me a place on the War Council and the chance to lead my brothers in battle.

As the title suggests, the chat command for polymorphing does work weirdly with extended spellslots. As you see in the image below I have just rested and used the chat command. It first depleted the level 4 spellslot, but then after maybe a few milliseconds it also depleted the level 5 spellslot.

If more tests are required, simply let me know.

[A dark-cover bound book, displaying a crow's fountain pen on the front, begins to appear on the shelves of the major libraries of Ephia's Wall]

The following text is an attempt to educate the masses about the intricacies of a studied, organized, and safe approach to magic. To combat a rampant simplification of all arcane subjects, the text will examine various spells among the best known to the general public, investigating their difficulties in an attempt to show the world of complexity that lies behind an apparent accessibility.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Wulfric Wolfsbane
October 04, 2022, 07:45:57 AM
At long last ...

There are too many awesome people to mention, but one above all is Lannister for playing Ser Manfred, a defining character for Wulfric and an example of how a badass character ought to be played.

I'd like him to be remembered as a cool character:

But we all know this is how he'll be remembered: (those who were present, know)

What's left to say? That EfU is a magical place. For it to be so full of vibrant and compelling stories after so much time, it is a wonder. And you people that play such amazing characters, you make it a place always worth returning to.

Keep on rocking EfU!

What an amazing ride it was!

I returned to efu because of the pandemic, cause I was in lockdown and couldn't leave my room. Never had I imagined this wonderful place would have been so pivotal in helping me weather through this storm. I have found here, during the last year, hours and hours of relief, smiles, heart-breaking emotions.
So you all are owed heartful thanks for the dedication you show to storytelling, the mesmerizing imagination you pour into the stories you tell. You make this place something that has rarely existed in the history of video games, and that has me come back, no matter how old I get, no matter how many new games crop out.
Chapeau.

I also want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all those I shared the path to Ring 1 with.
And to all of you considering whether to ringrun, whether ringrunning is or isn't worth your time, know that it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It will make you struggle, curse, feel defeated like no other game out there. And in doing so it will shape an experience that has no equals.
I have only one advice for you: ringrun, ringrun, ringrun!

I don't have many screenshots of Tay's adventures, partly because I as everyone else tend to forget, while in the heat of things, partly because far too many are spoilerish. Here's what I have got:

The two Ring 1 Silver Hats  ;)

And finally some lewt

With time passing and friends dying like flies, Tay's items became more and more bittersweet

One last farewell EFU!

Bug Reports / Mouse cursor being too big
April 10, 2018, 07:57:52 PM
I've been having a problem with my mouse cursor in game being extremely out of proportion. I attempted to take a screenshot, but the cursor simply does not appear appear in it.

I recall it was a problem I already had once when playing on screen with high resolution (2715x1527) but I can't remember how I fixed it. I tried to tinker with the ini file, but to little avail. If I play in windowed mode ("Fullscreen=1") the cursor returns to its normal size, but I cannot turn the camera anymore by moving the mouse to the edges of the screen. I tried with setting "Enable HardwareMouse=0" and that too fixed the size of the cursor, but the side effect is that I can move the cursor around but I just cannot click on anything, cause the game does not register the presence of the mouse.

Anything else? I can't be the first one to ever face this issue.

Well, he didn't have a very exciting life, but he had an exciting death.

Only two screenshots worthy of being posted.

And an awesome piece of loot!

Hope you guys had fun playing with him. Keep on rocking Efu!

General Discussion / Seeking advice
March 04, 2017, 03:51:14 PM
Fellow Sanctuarians, I come to you today with a question. Nwn is an old game, many of us started playing as kids and are now grown up men. We all coped with the responsibilities of adulthood in different ways, some left while others didn't. I just started working and alas I have found I do not have the luxury of affording nwn as many hours as I used to. I am, though, among those that are not ready to leave yet, those that still feel the compelling urge to log in and tell my little part of a wonderful, immersive story. I can probably spare around 6-8 hours a week for nwn, and I know with that kind of commitment it can be difficult to play a deeply involved character. But I also do not want to miss the most beautiful part of efu, that is the meaningful, deep interactions and the involvement in a fulfilling, poetic and overarching storyline. I know that with that kind of availability it can be difficult to find the time to log in and roleplay deeply with several characters, keep up with all the events, develop a consistent, reliable network of contacts. So I ask you, what is the solution you have found? If you can spare only a few hours a week, how do you enjoy your time? Do you log in and play a lighter character, one maybe not multilayer but rather brash, easy to spot and understand? How do you keep in touch with all that happens without becoming just a bystander? How do you cope with trying to give meaning to what could be intermittent, irregular relationships? Have you found a solution? Have you ever wondered about this, faced this problem yourself?

And so dies a naked man.

Holy monk, scholar and Reflector of the Sacrosanct Fount of Saintly Waters. Playing Caleb has been hugely fun, thanks in no small amount to those he has had the chance to interact with. The first person he got close to, Amirah, and then Alethia, and all the people involved with the House of Knowledge, from Rago to Alatar, to all the Custodians. All those that have come afterwards, Magron for becoming the first and only Keeper I inducted, all the other Keepers, Angvyrr and Atrogul for sticking with me until the end (and Bardo too, even if he found a loophole and wasn't there for the end!). Wraith, Gradak, and so many more! I enjoyed so many interactions, so many moments with you, that I cannot list them all. But you were part in shaping a story that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I hope the feeling is mutual. That is the magic of EfU!

Playing a LG aligned character, heavily leaning towards sainthood and holiness is a wonderful challenge and has allowed me to see aspects of EfU that I had missed so far. It's a great experience and I seriously urge you all to give it a chance at least once. The Fount faction is a perfect stepping stone to open up a world of opportunities, so do not be shy!

And now, screenshots of Caleb's adventures in random order.

He died doing what he did best: battling evil.

And now, of course, some loot.

And last but not least, the infamous hotpants!

And now, some Torment: Tides of Numenera before I come back with a new character. See you later, Efu!

Bug Reports / Inflict wounds and negative saves
January 05, 2017, 02:28:34 PM
The inflict wounds spells require a will save and not a will save against negative energy, meaning any bonus on saves against negative energy is not accounted for. Not sure if it is intended or not, but it makes little sense.

The Malar panther and the juvenile werewolf that can be found in one of the versions of the quest Below the Low Road (hopefully it's the correct name, it's the quest along the low road that requires a level 5 character) are hostile to each other and will therefore start fighting as soon as someone enters the quest area.

I'm missing the screenshots from a lot of the parts of the adventure, since I was too busy surviving, so if you have them feel free to add them!

Bug Reports / EfU Launcher

Since the IP address change, my EfU Launcher has not been able to locate the server. Connection always times out. I tried downloading it anew, but to no avail.

Gods, it certainly didn't take long! But when you are presented with a room full of helpless paladins ... you just can't say no.

Too bad I have no screenshots of the ending, but I did manage to take a few during his long life.

PS I have been a Scrivener for two days, and yet I can easily say that the faction can be greatly interesting, especially now that they have been rewarded for the participation in the war. There is also a little perk that has been just added and that is enormously flavorful.

Have fun!

Bug Reports / Empty character vault [PROBLEM SOLVED]
January 15, 2016, 10:53:54 PM
My character vault is apparently empty. The Account is "Haer Dalis 83". I have restarted my pc, my router and waited for a server reset, to no avail. I have tried logging in with a different account name "Haer Darkness 83" and the character is there. I have tried creating a new character and as soon as I press play after creation the game simply shows me an empty screen with the mouse pointer and crashes after a while. What could it be?

EDIT: Nevermind, they are suddenly back.

When I woke up and read that no application was needed to play an Ordinant, I just could not miss the chance. And while it lasted as shortly as expected, the faction was great, and I enjoyed every single moment.

Just a few random screenshots:

From what I see the channel is not working. I find it's a wonderful tool, the one channel I am always logged into and my window into what happens on efu. If there was anything that could be done to help restore it, please let us know.

While I don't have many screenshots of his life (just a couple) since everything that happened was always too frantic, I have a few memories of his last trip (a very awesome one).

And how I'd like to remember him. (Thank you, Iestryn)
