They are simple weapon now, but some classes cannot use them. Can Light Hammers be added to the Rogue and Wizard weapon proficiency?

To explain this request - light hammers often contain bonuses that make them useful for multitude of new non-combat related skills, and as such exist not only as a weapon but also as a tool. I believe it'd be a great change.

Suggestions / Shelgarn's line of spells
April 24, 2024, 05:01:54 PM
They are very fun spell, working similarly to summoning or phantoms. To truly specialize on them you need to do some heavy investment, as GSF Abjuration is the only way to extend their duration (cannot be prolonged with Extend), and SF/GSF Evocation is the power multiplier, by numbers.

And for this line of spells, like with any other summonings, their power is in numbers.
But they are also very obstructive, making it hard to navigate tight spots and to move for the caster and other people. Controlling five of them is like herding cats. For such a fun spells it feels a bit bad not to use them to their full potential.

What if they would differ from other summoning lines by their power multiplier being not the numbers, but direct empowerment of the construct itself?

My suggestion is:
SF Abj - increased duration
GSF Abj - chance to resist dismissal
SF Evo - you can control three of them
GSF Evo - you can control them with greater efficiency - your shelgarns get better stats, saves (defaults are awful) and HP, but they stay at three pieces max.

Suggestions / Multiclass penalty
March 28, 2024, 07:42:41 AM
What purpose does it serve? How it makes things better? It was used to discourage multiclasses, but in a style of outdated mechanics like "hurr durr dwarfs should be fighters".
We now can go for crazy 4 class multiclasses, but with how good some of the pure classes are, is there any reason to have MC penalty?
Maybe it's time for this penalty to go?

Suggestions / Save feats
March 25, 2024, 06:51:48 PM
What if save feats was removed from general selection, forcing more of a diversity? And instead was made a separate pool, from which you can choose one on a certain character level.

Suggestions / Cooking station in the Souk
March 18, 2024, 06:29:46 PM
Can it be made +20, please?
Cooking isn't a strong craft at all, just a fun little thing, so it won't be broken.
Besides, each reset you have to pay 25 to access it.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Xon Dhoten

I am not sure how to describe it.
It was a strange, magical journey, for sure. Most of it was as unexpected for me as it was for you. I came to the character with expectancy to find a footing, but in the end had to improvise and follow the flow. And you know, it was a good thing. Good perspective.
Many characters open up in contact with strange, according to their personality and prior experiences and it was an absolute delight to see a full spectrum of people reactions, making every minute to bloom up in all the possible color. Some became his friends, some became rivals or enemies.

Good run. Thanks, everyone!

Unfortunately, I am not a screenshot person. So if you have some - do not hesitate to post.

Obligatory stats and loot. Except for one piece that is still relevant and would be a spoiler.

Suggestions / Finesse feat
March 16, 2024, 10:55:33 AM
Would be cool if it allowed 1.5 of dex mod (scaled down) to be used for damage, seeing how there is code for that exact thing in the Fencer now.

Of course it shouldn't stack with Finesse Training, it'd be too op, but it would also allow other Dex builds classes to compete while remaining pure.

Suggestions / Rogue: Apothecary
March 13, 2024, 05:06:44 PM
A perk with heavy focus on current crafting system.
It could become more universal with a thematic bonus of:

"Animal buffs you get from potions are always empowered."

Maybe auto-extended circle 1 potions. There is still things to think about.

Suggestions / Rogue Perk: Starthrower
March 10, 2024, 04:17:01 PM
It's a pure rogue-only perk, giving them special shurikens on rest.
Problem is, being a very niche perk it also requires to take a proficiency feat to even become usable.

Simple solution is to add a free monk weapon proficiency to this perk.
The only difference between rogue proficiency and monk proficiency, if second is added over the first, is shurikens and kamas. And kamas is not something gamebreaking, or even game-altering for a rogues.

+3 BAB requirement forces non-full-BaB characters to delay taking this character defining feat until 6.
Why not to just allow people to take in on level 1? I do not see any drawbacks at all.

The Path of Enlightened Indulgence

by Lucius Aurelius

I too, once, was impoverished. In material and spiritual, and body, and soul, and mood, I was poor, and barren, and blank. I had trodden the path of Renunciation, relinquishing worldly possessions and distancing myself from the material realm. My life, like others, echoed the desolation of barren alleys, and the echoes extended, deafening questions we didn't ask.

Brought there by some caring souls (may their lives be opulent and pleasure plentiful), in the stillness of contemplation, or perhaps in a paralysis of fear, I stood atop a volcano. The dragon soared above, and the world beneath disappeared. Oh, sweet irony! From the abyss of nothingness, where the stark contrast of existence met my contemplative gaze, the seeds of the Path were sown.

I watched. In terror, and in fear. "What is this nightmare?!",  I asked myself. "We rejected the world, and now there is none, where there was all! And it is gone, and it lives now only in memories..." It was in this transcendent moment that a profound revelation dawned upon me — a revelation that shattered the orthodox constraints of ascetic monasticism, and since then had long guided my spiritual journey.

"And the ascetic way," I discerned, "is a misleading dichotomy — a misguided attempt to master oneself by severing ties with the very fabric of life. How could one enrich the soul through a deliberate denial of the world's offerings?" The epiphany struck me with the force of divine revelation, and with newfound vigor, I emerged from the shadows of renunciation, and took the name Aurelius, for this wisdom was purest of golds.
And so, I was not poor in mood anymore.

The subsequent years unfolded as an odyssey of survival, navigating the treacherous terrain of a desert populated by souls on the brink of surrender. I, however, found hope in the crucible of adversity. Determined to embrace life in its entirety, I toiled tirelessly, honing the skills of negotiation, trade, and connection-building. A rat tail for a sharp shard, a sharp shard for a warm scarf, a warm scarf for a seed of lost trees — I learned, climbed the social echelons, and transformed destitution into opulence.
And so, I was not poor in body anymore.

Yet, material prosperity alone could not satiate my evolving desires. "Taste," I discovered, "is an art — an aesthetic refinement that transcends the banal. It wasn't merely about experiencing the world, but it was about discerning quality within the quantity. Gold itself could be diluted, dirt could be good for health, and in this — luxurious." I learned to appreciate the exquisite spectrum of existence. "To savor life to the fullest is to seek the best." To get the most of savoring is an experience akin to meditative practice. Dissolve in sensations. Do not empty the mind, but fill it to the brim with the richness of every second, focusing your whole being on these blessed moments of indulgence.
And so, I was not poor in soul anymore.

And with all three, I was no longer poor in material and spiritual. And so, I share these tenets for those who will walk the Path, for in this they are rich, and blessed, and rightful:

  • They who live prosperously are prosperous.
  • Do not compromise for mediocrity when the best is to be had.
  • Measure is a two-sided sword — by knowing measure, you maintain the desire for more, but by overindulging in measure, you stall.
  • Closed fist accepts no coin. Your palm is open, your palm is heavy.
  • Renounce the ascetic way, experience the world, for they who have savored the best our world has to offer are truly enlightened.

Unraveling the Cosmic Web - A Critical Examination of Gellemedes

Chapter I: The Symbiotic Harmony

Embarking on a journey through this essay necessitates an elementary comprehension of our own universe. A vast expanse of space, in which our world, known as "Reality", is depicted as a metaphorical fragile soap bubble. Within this bubble, our understanding and interaction with what we perceive as Reality are filtered through a conceptual lens known as "Reason".

This lens is not merely a perceptual tool, akin to the rudimentary discernment of threats by a squirrel, but rather, an intricate amalgamation of perceptual faculties guided by established norms and logic. Thoughts can, and will affect the Reality. Mostly unnoticeable on an individual scale, on a collective scale such a process must be guided by established sets of laws.

Reason, in this context, transcends mere perception, and is instrumental in the maintenance of our shared reality.  Gellemedes, through their manipulation of perceptual faculties, have become potent vectors of influence, a topic that demands immediate scrutiny. Reason binds us, creatures of sentience, to our existence, due to our limited comprehension of what exists beyond our delicate bubble, wherein entities of ineffable complexity reside. Bubble, that shields us from the unfathomable. Should it burst, world as we know it will be undone, and so are we.

Chapter II: Gods – Divine Interfaces

When contemplating gods, whether viewed through a lens of sophisticated theology or rudimentary idolatry, invariably our thoughts gravitate towards their dominion - "Domains". In essence, gods are conceptualized within familiar confines to foster understanding. But why is this understanding vital? It is crucial to comprehend that Reason, while serving as an informational substrate, necessitates active engagement of the mind to manifest meaningfully within Reality.

Domains guarantee integrity of the laws of Reason. Death. Creation. War. Magic. The processes of our existence. Thus, gods serve as interfaces – not mere entities of worship but crucial connectors, translating the collective conscious and unconscious comprehension of minds into the fabric of our Reality. The complexity of their task, and hence our interaction with them, necessitates simple, clear instructions, following which guarantees unity of our minds. After all, as an informational construct, laws of Reason can only exist when they are comprehended.

Chapter III: The Gellema Paradox

Gellema's adherents, noted for their engagements in chaos and deception, present a perplexing paradigm for scholars and common folk alike. In sustaining the tangible reality we exist within, the preservation of Reason and its consistent application within our shared bubble is paramount. Gellema's domains, separately, could be viewed as a mechanism to identify and rectify systemic flaws by the act of exposure, to guard against covert extrinsic threats, and to assist mortals in maintaining functionality post the mental trauma. This seemingly intrinsic design clashes noticeably when these functions are brought together, combining into a volatile concoction of destructive behavior, manifesting among and throughout Gellema's followers.

To elucidate, sabotage – a hallmark of Gellema's faithful – presents a perilous paradox, wherein they undermine the fundamental harmony priests are ought to preserve, specifically targeting the mind, a crucial component designed to withstand even substantial loss without catastrophic failure. The issue isn't simply divergence but becoming what they should oppose: agents of disruption within our collective comprehension of Reality. To frame this within an analogous construct: if Gellema and her domain are supposed to be the immune system of Reality, then its followers, by imposing distortion upon mortals, embody a rogue element, akin to an autoimmune disease.

Gellemedes inadvertently (or perhaps intentionally) risk destabilizing the very fabric of our existence, presenting a tangible threat that warrants careful examination and collective counteraction. As the intricacy of our collective consciousness is endangered – especially when diminished in scale by a significant loss of populace, as observed in recent years – the potential collapse of our conceptual "bubble" looms ominously. Our collective obligation, therefore, is to critically appraise such practices, ensuring our navigation through the cosmic web is guided by clarity and discernment, safeguarding our intertwined existence against the void of non-being.

Suggestions / Battlecry disable switch

Not sure if this is possible, but it'd be nice to have a craft menu toggle, or chat command, to switch of the yelling when you click an enemy.

Can we have a button that switches the color scheme of the letters for better accessibility sake, please?
Something like:
1) Green/yellow;
2) Blue/red.

As per topic.
There is great combat related perks for the pure level 8 rogues.
The scheme they follow is +1 AB, and then other combat related benefit, like CON and DR, or AC and Sand Dance mode, or Saves and Buff Steal.

Other rogue perks, while tasteful and providing a great set of flavorful benefits, are mostly non-combat related.

Rogue is in a good place, but wouldn't it be even better to follow a pattern of:
Combat themed perks:
+1 AB, Combat Benefits;
Flavor themed perks:
+1 AB, Non-combat benefits.

Since combat perk benefits is so great already, why not to close the gap a little bit?
Why I believe +1 AB is better than no AB? Because its then same AB rogue/fighter gets.

It is a rare problem, but I feel it deserves to be mentioned, especially while being unable to learn Crafts from NPCs.

SF and Crafts require an ability to cast spells. For characters like a caster bard it means you can only have one GSF by level 6, and if you do it means no scroll, potions, or wands.

Maybe it could interfere with some gish multiclasses as well, I am not sure.

This change, maybe, would allow greater variety, even if cases of use is rare.

Suggestions / Altered general feat levels
October 16, 2023, 05:33:07 AM
As per title, inspired by suggestion of altered FE ranger levels.

Suggestion is - getting general feats at levels:
- 1, 2, 5, 8, 11

Instead of:
- 1, 3, 6, 9, 12

It might better fit dynamic and level range of the server, allowing to reliably plan for your last feat.
I believe it'd just feel better.
And also would give the eventual near-11 character something else to look forward for.

Furs, flask, gourd... A character bound trinket that doesn't disappear on zero charges, and is charges are restored when you use a healing water placeable, like well or fountain.
Should help with water economy. Or I hope so.
