Niloufar had no memory of her mother. She did know a tale: when she was born, the world around her sheared. The portion of the Refuge they were in temporarily shifted out of space and out of time. Though it lasted only moments, this was a portent of her arcane potential and a great calamity. She grew up in the early life of an aristocrat. Yet Niloufar was bound in gilded chains. Unable to help but come across as a jabbering fool in her younger years, she was treated poorly by her family but remained fascinated by people as interacting with them induced both visions and delusions.

When she came of age, Niloufar was falsely accused of stealing a magical artefact and imprisoned. This was done by her brother and sister, the fiery Nicodemus and serene Nadia, to ensure she would never enter succession and to ensure she could be controlled. Niloufar was used as a blood battery for magical power throughout her imprisonment. Yet destruction came to the Nephezar family. When her family home and the prison were annihilated, she vanished.

A year later, she was  thrown from The Blind Eye, Viscount Flevas having had enough of charity. She wandered the rings, attracting ne'er-do-wells, madmen (and women), charlatans, rogues, knights, hopefuls, and those lost to despair. She was plagued by visions and was never really able to overcome them. She never got far. She wasn't a leader, and she was a bit of a fool, who frequently broke down and projected her fears and anxieties onto the people around her. Still, she met a man she truly respected, who taught her the value of humility and of appreciating just the little things. She always tried to regard him with keen audition...

Niloufar has spent the last year outright rejecting her heritage, pushing away the trauma of her youth. Initially, she was beaten and threatened and bled and spat upon when she dared venture near the Peerage. Lately, however, she was treated to a more respectful and supportive Peerage.  Synia Winespill even dared to give her hope that the world could be a little less dark. As her delusions progressed, Niloufar began to dissociate a lot of the imprisonment - and being bled - trauma from her family onto Zarono and the history of the peerage in general. So when the Houses promised to help her fight for vengeance and effect change, she was swept up because it offered meaningful action.

She even swore to take up her family's mantle and to try to wield power that would destroy her, all in an attempt to save the world. Alas, that day never came...

[hide=Madmen swirled around her.][/hide]

[hide=Even they worried for her, time to time.]

[hide=But she always chased the pretty lights.][/hide]

[hide=There was time for silliness, for joy, for love.][/hide]

[hide=Sometimes she terrified herself...]

[hide=And other times she counted her blessings.][/hide]

[hide=Still, she could never let go of that darkness.][/hide]

[hide=Yet no matter how hard it was to breathe, good friends always made it better.]

[hide=And even if she never got to save the world, perhaps someone will remember her... Perhaps that is making a difference enough.][/hide]

Thanks for the journey, EFU.

Awesome character Loops! I appreciate your time and the gravity Niloufar wielded even as an oddity which speaks volumes about your own work.

Empress of Neon

I'm going to miss her. Our last and greatest Nephezar in Ring 99.  Whether she was crazy or semi-lucid, she was always sheer joy to interact with. Top-notch quality every single encounter with a powerful backstory/motive to keep her ever-driving on, no matter how dire or hopeless things seemed to get. She felt like a force of nature/radical destiny; even in rags.

Thank you for blessing us with our beloved angel, who now soars high; afar.

You will naught be forgotten; Niloufar Nephezar.
