::[ City Sending by Valeria Demethes : My dear friends and fellow citizens, this is Valeria. As I bit into a piece of dreamy liquorice this morning and it filled me with an undescribable joy and delight, another thought entered my mind. Sanctuary has seen the endless benefits that the Workmill has provided for us. It has enabled us to arm ourselves, it has enabled us to protect our new home and carve out a new existance for ourselves i
::[ City Sending by Valeria Demethes : Seeing the benefits of the Workmill, we must ask ourselves... what benefits would a Candymill bring us? Imagine the endless joy and revelry in the streets, the boundless bounty of confectionary delights that can indulge our palette and quench our apettites? I ask you is it enough to simply -live- when you can instead live well? Vote for the Candymill. Vote Red! ]::

A fine character. A shame she never gained weight.

'mind effecting' and 'will' are two different saves. Mind effecting will not give a bonus to a will save, while a will bonus will give a bonus to a mind effecting save.

I know, it's dumb, but that's just how it is. :S

Epi-spell, kindly space your paragraphs so they do not appear as a wall of text. Secondly, please use proper grammar and punctuation if you want any of us to take you seriously. I understand that you don't feel inclined to do so on a forum, I was once like you, but very few people want to read a thread filled with grammatically hellish sentences and follow your reasoning because of it. Veteran players use proper grammar and format for a reason- it's much more difficult to be misinterpreted or misunderstood.

As to the terms of "Metalworking" and "Smithing" and "Mining", these are mostly flavor points a DM can look at and get an idea of your character. I will admit, I have played a blacksmith type PC before, and successfully forged magical relics for myself and other PCs with the aid of a DM possessed dragon. It was a fun, amazing time as long as I involved everyone in the process. However, those who invest in these efuss 'skills' do so knowing that the opportunity to use the skill will be rare.

The thing with scripted crafting systems, however, and this is also a problem with our alchemy and herbalism system, is that you do not need anyone to do them. You can feasibly go out into the wilds alone, gather raw materials, and dump hours into wordlessly plying your trade without getting involved with anyone else. I find this counter productive to server philosophy of involving others. As well, even if they do involve others, I don't find an adventure to find ingredients/ore to be particularly exciting or in keeping with EFU's Theme.

It is enough that the server allows for certain PCs who have cultivated a reputation of being a miner, smith, or metalworker (usually by simply writing a few books on the subject, going out looking for ore as an excuse to explore the server, and so on) a DM given opportunity to ply their trade. I think this is a much more special and meaningful opportunity than a scripted system that forges mundane items for little to no gain.

Hell, one of the best ways to become known for something is to simply give yourself a title by introducing it, "I am the Master Smith Helgrod Amatan." Or "I am the Confectioner Ysgrid", "I am the Sculptor of Requiem..." these are flavorful things, and with time, people will address you as, "Hey Smith", or "Hey Sculptor" and in time, a reputation will blossom from very easy, and simple things.

EFU doesn't need this, nor do I think it is particularly desired as we've proven we can be a healthy, vibrant community without it.

Addendum: It isn't false advertisement if the skills 'can' be used, you are only a few weeks old to the server, and yet you claim to have seen everything that can be possibly related to metalworking/smithing? Maybe you can find some scripted check that lets you make an item? I know there is a tailoring check somewhere, and a furniture check. Who is to say something similar to what you describe doesn't exist already?

The Absurd and Weird are what keeps me coming back. I loved the fae in efu:m, I think interacting with them were among the finest hours of my time on EFU.

Going to bump this as I have encountered bothersome trials in gathering ingredients that are considered 'common' (bluecap spores to make bread dough for example) and other bases necessary in advancing culinary research.

While it is reasonable to say, "Get others players to get it," I have encountered numerous trials in getting others to do so for me. The frank truth is, very few people want to do anything for a system that many perceive as purely flavor and not very profitable (as opposed to alchemy with its numerous, and very useful commodities). As well, going out into the Underdark to harvest plants seems to be an extremely boring, tedious task, and doesn't interest me much.

I have tried experimenting with what is available in stores, and the results have been disappointing.

In EFU:M, there at least was a store that sold sausage, grain, flour, and other basic foodstuffs that could be developed into other more complex ingredients or completed products. Adding something similar is something I would desire for this setting.

Just app. If it is really important to your concept, the dms will happily do it.

No. This is a role play server, not wander around and farm randoms server. Two people minimum is still frankly pushing it.

Go to town, get people to join you. If your concept forbids it, then stay true to it and simply ask someone to enter town for you. There are nature PCs who enter town often, and it's possible to find a group leaving town. Sendings are made often enough, merely glance at IRC. Your PC likely has reasons to hang around Sanctuary's environs, just make something up. There is nothing wrong with involving others outside your clique.

I am sure something similar to what you suggested for the Machine is in the works. The Worm Pits, after all, have their own random exploration areas.

I sympathize, I played nature Pcs before, few things were as annoying as being alone with a random filled with possible fat loot and being unable to loot it or discover the hints, clues, and secrets contained within.

I think you'll just have to live with it, Inquisitor!
