Correspondence / [A letter to Domhnall Judicael Guivarch]
February 16, 2024, 05:26:35 AM
(A small sweet smelling letter is delivered to where-ever Domhnall might be getting his mail forwarded to, or otherwise. The handwriting is crude and childish and there are cartoonish drawings of laurels and roses along the border)

Hello Mister Guivarch,

We wanted to write you to say thank you for saving us from the really bad place from before. Sister Xian helped us make this for you. We're studying really hard to help the Well like you helped us. One day maybe one of us will be Legate too and we can help other people.

- Signed

Emily!

Coraline ~

Marriam.

(A formal string of letters and banners soon seems to flutter from the League Offices of Ephia's Well)

In Celebration of the recent election of our Purple Legate Zaniah Almirah, and continued service of our Gold Legate Sol Auk, we, of the collective Leagues, are proudly announcing a series of Tournaments upon Tabbah 11th, IY 7787!

Three Challenges are posed, therefore, by any upcoming representative of their membership in the Accord, League, or Faithful to the Wheel otherwise. A processing fee of 300 Dinars are due to a Scribe of the Sublime Gardens, and entry may only be for one of the three tournament events. Details are below!

In each challenge a participant may use 2 potions, spells or otherwise trinkets or blessings to aid them and the following restrictions based upon event. LETHAL FORCE IS PROHIBITED. ANY AND ALL MURDER SHALL BE TREATED AS SUCH! ~

The Challenge of Agaslakku - A straight forward battle where participants may use any armor or equipment they desire, but are limited to special clubs delivered before bouts. These clubs are magically enchanted to be non-lethal and gifted magical tactic and otherwise that contestants may use along with their limited pool of resources.

Challenge of Izdu - This is a battle of arcana and magical wiles. Participants shall stand in a glowing ring separated from those they face. They must either draw or remove their opponent from the opposing ring, knock them unconscious, or force their surrender, but only by magical means, or cunning. Spells and magical works are unlimited in this contest, but otherwise limits apply.

Challenge of Warad - In this contest of endurance participants must square off while wearing gauntlets and robes offered to them. No blade, bow, weapon, or magical weapon may be drawn upon, and they must pin and defeat their foes using brawn and tactic while avoiding trap and hazard among the arena.

Victors will claim a Trophy for each Feat of their respective Challenge and see an additional 5000 dinar allotment delivered to a purpose of their choice. Only 3 shall win their respective final bouts, and only 1 for each Challenge.

(A series of advertisements and propaganda from the collective Leagues follows... Investment opportunities with the Gold League,  Charitable volunteer works for the White League, Fanfare and memorial from the Purple League...)

Hello everyone, just wanted to speak about OOC spoilers and other details that might slip through into discord or OOC channels if someone isn't aware.

EFU is built around a lot of questing systems and mechanical information that given out freely can trivialize or take the fun out of a lot of the underlining content. For this reason we have a set of rules based around this: https://wiki.efupw.com/index.php?title=Server_Rules#Metagaming, and https://wiki.efupw.com/index.php?title=Server_Rules#Spoilers.2C_OOC.

In general, please don't refer to monsters having some ability like DI, strength or anything else in character, or in some fashion OOC where you're informing another player of the potential hazard. Likewise, don't spoil puzzles or other hidden details for other players, like the rings or quests for new players. If you're concerned about a mob or something else, just contact the DMs with a bug report ticket, or ask in the DM channel to speak to a DM on it.

It's fine to ask about specific build ideas in player-advice and similar, but never give away any information on the exacts of quests, puzzles or monsters.

Thanks everyone!

Announcements / [Ponds Prelude]
April 07, 2022, 01:34:10 AM
Hello!

I'm looking for five players that wish to portray residents of the ponds through a series of events over the next few weeks. Ideally, they should reflect one of the major themes of the Ponds: Dissent towards the Peerage, Loss, Struggling to reclaim lost honor, or Seeking to renew the Natural Balance of the Rings.

PCs should be Human, Non-Paladin and Non-Cleric.

Please send me a tell on discord if interested. I'm planning to start running things Tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday based on interest and coordination.

Announcements / {Prelude event!]
December 10, 2021, 06:28:23 AM
Hello everyone, this Sunday at roughly This time I will be running a short prelude that will set up a number of characters with a clear directive, purpose and starting gear. They will be heavily PVP based and in high conflict with most of the server.

As a background, please consider a minor House name, if any at all, with the hope to redeem themselves or their house.  They might be desperate, proud, or otherwise passionate about this cause. No Wizards, Paladins or Monks, please. Any Alignment is fine, though Good and Lawful would have more issue than not. Feel free to include any other quirks, but the base Race should be Human.

Also, no alts please, this ideally should be your main pc until they die if you do join. =]

Announcements / [A Growing Threat Beneath the Weald]
October 27, 2021, 09:54:01 PM
Throughout the Weald of Ring 98 does the soft echo of a phrase repeating scream through the cold night air.

QuoteTIME FOR HARVEST, WEEDS!

Writhing  dead drawn forward by plant matter lumber along the disturbed forest grounds scattering wild life to the winds.

QuoteTIME FOR HARVEST, WEEDS!

Ancient caves fill with twisting barbs, orange unearthly glow, and the sight of pumpkin and gourd.

QuoteTIME FOR HARVEST, WEEDS!!

A supposed source of this blight is located by companies of adventurers and otherwise...

Announcements / [OUB Items]
June 24, 2021, 03:47:08 AM
Hello everyone, I've noticed that certain Only useable By: items might be being used for summoning focuses despite the PCs not having the correct alignment. Please do not do this. It is not intended, and the OUB should be treated ideally as both IC and OOC in relations to your character, even if you find yourself able to utilize them.

Anything that's restricted for your pc shouldn't be used by said pc beyond perhaps selling or sundering. Thank you!

As the subject says, hello!

I'm hoping to help keep EFU doing what it does at its best, tell a good story and be a lot of fun.

Hopefully I'll be a help to everyone. =]

Bug Reports / Cave of the Grandfather Quest

The quest zone seems to let you walk in without taking the quest. XD

Hello! One of the randoms with Jinwuan, blackguard of the Sleeper in the above location has a dig in the ice placeable that appears to be broken and possibly giving out more items than desired.

Bug Reports / Prayer spell not benefiting spellcaster
February 02, 2019, 10:46:08 PM
Hello, as currently used by a Relic Guardian as a normal level 3 spell, Prayer seems to work as interned for people around the caster, but not the caster themselves. I am uncertain if this was a change made to the spell in efu, as in vanilla nwn it works as described, but I can find no spellchange log of it.

Thanks!

Bug Reports / Darkness Spell
January 21, 2019, 05:30:53 AM
I don't think it's intentional, but a darkness spell (Casted by a Relic Guardian, 2ed slot normal, chaos, retribution domains) seems to make pcs or enemies invisible and blind within it. Was working fine a few days ago, to my knowledge, and seems to work fine half of the time if not used near pcs/npcs.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Scrivener Charlie Graystard
January 20, 2019, 12:51:46 AM
The Last Year of EFU has been great, I started Charlie around the beginning of Janurary, probably the fifth, so it was suiting that at his year's anniversary of diligently recording Doom, the End would come. I have already posted many a screen of the Red Banner, Grandbones, and the Cultists of Set that began to mold and form Charlie into what he would be.

The Elven Twins, though not incredibly devote followers, would be agreeable in shaping the foundations of respect seen of the Mausoleum in the coming End, as we hunted Necromancers, and worked alongside Savael in seeing the Mournful spirits of the elves given to peace - even if they did not live to see it.

When it became apparent that Middle Sanctuary had been abandoned, Charlie made it certain that the Mausoleum was with the last Sanctuaries, until the End.

As assassins, murdering warriors, and heroes rose and fell, Charlie recorded their deeds and aided them with potions and persuasive suggestions to deter those that sought to do them harm. Recounting the deaths of Baron Ormulax, Councilors, The Mayor, the Drow of Lower, Magnatz, Melinda Bresley, and eventually the Elder Brain Ysinode.

Azanari, the Baron Mikolova, the workings of Ikran and Kora each played parts in how Charlie would operate in Sanctuary and become as a person. Over time he grew to better understand the wants of Jergal, and slowly crept away from the shell of reciting: "By the Flames of Kossuth, by the Writ of Kelemvor, and By the Will of the Lord of Bones", and simply began to chant the Doom of the Coming End. No one would need to bare the pain of living or undeath, any longer.

The First Scribe had one last task, before the End. Record everything you can of those still living in Enginetown, [Thanks Abala for the suggestion!] And so he did, and he did die moments before the Appetite, a great undead abomination in the eyes of Jergal, died as well.

I ran out of stuff. It was an awesome End, though. His last words were when he was chasing some giant chosen spewing dark magics: "DIE NECROMANCER!"

- Charlie's Final Form, level ten! I fixed the Champion of name. XD

- Won from a chance in a portal with Howlando and Dangerous Dan!
  - Won from a chance in a portal with Howlando and Dangerous Dan!
- Found this awesome thing on a hero!
- Recovered in a Dream quest by Elmo, I would gather a second one and a +1 Str bonus for Charlie's carrying diligence towards the End.
The Bulwark came to me after I lost my old zhurkwood shield due to having too much stuff in my inventory.
I was actually searching for something to replace it.
Then this happened.

I will grab details of my blue knowledge robes and the awesome Belt of the Undying Sage, Gip gave me for Ysinode. XD [/hide]

Suggestions / Draw Distance and in-game Chat window
June 03, 2018, 06:22:36 AM
It seems the latest update has lowered Draw Distance default and made it so the chat window is singular instead of split into chat and battle information.

The Draw Distance can be increased in the toolset to my knowledge, and I assume Efu had something that split the chat automatically before. If changing it back to what it was is desired, I think it would be nice.

Thanks!

Suggestions / Nameable Bags and Boxes
April 04, 2018, 04:17:01 AM
As said above, maybe have a merchant that sells bags or boxes you can name with the /title command.

Be really nice for in-game flavour and inventory sorters would probably love it, with potion bags, scroll cases, what have you.

Suggestions / [Reactive Quest Areas]
November 26, 2016, 08:39:54 PM
I was thinking a while ago that with the desire to build frontier towns, or improve the vault areas, maybe certain quests, or new quests could be made that after being completed a number of times actually close and the issue within them is resolved to a point.

An example, say in the public housing vault there were some issues in a certain building, they could be random each time, like thugs or aberrants, or monsters. After they were cleared enough times, people could move into them and furnish them and the area would be secured, as it were. As a counter-point, other groups could take a quest on the other end of the situation, like helping the thugs for more gold rewards or whatever, and turn it into a den for hoodlums.

The areas could also suffer from future disasters too, and have to be reclaimed at later points.

A counter for the number of times the quest is taken could be scripted in fairly easily, I think. =]

The Scribe in the House of Trade will make you leaflets for five coins a piece that you could drop from your inventory to place a bundle of fliers on the ground. At least that's how it used to work.

I'm not sure if I'm just using them wrong, or something. Though I've used them a couple years ago to no issue. They don't seem to create a placeable with your message any more.

Is this a known issue, or is it just on my end maybe?

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Jastra, and Ajax
May 15, 2016, 12:37:53 AM
Two different sides of a coin, one clinging to what was left of her heritage, hope, and dreams.

The other, bending to whoever would save him, and doing anything for it.

Jastra:

Old friends disappear:

Close friends die:

And drastic measures end the tale:

Suggestions / Placeable art canvas
April 19, 2016, 12:02:49 AM
I was just thinking, it might be cool if merchants could sell art canvas you could set up, or if you could find one in game. I realise the fliers and signboards you can place up could be used to the same effect, but thought an actual canvas placeable would be neat. =]

The quest, Grotto of Filth, still mentions Mistlocke after you complete it.
