Screen Shots & Obituaries / Mavell Smogson
October 25, 2012, 01:11:38 AM
Mavell Smogson, Mistlocke Huntsman, Numinous Huntsman, Shitson, Mavy, Lord of the Last Keep or(self proclaimed) "King of The Veil".

Chaotic Evil - Human
Rogue (3) - Fighter (6)
Current XP [TNL]: 41961 [3039]
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Deity: Beshaba (or as Mavell would call Her... THE MIST)

Strength: 16
Dexterity: 14
Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 10
Wisdom: 14
Charisma: 12
(The Mist has granted him a perma white stat buff, which one might it be?)

I always wanted to play an underdog Hick, anti-hero, a brawler, a rioter jackass. Mavell was my creation to unite all these concepts in one, so to make a Hick, I had to think of the family. Sadly, his first riot resulted in his death, but I managed to portray him the way I planned. Mavell Smogson was a mediocre huntsman and leather worker for ten years. He never learned how to track and never cared about animals, in fact, truth be told, he was never a true hunter, rather an animal killer and skinner. Sometimes he would skin animals alive, just to hear them suffer. Since his career as a hunter was not taking him anywhere, he decided to listen to the Mist as it whispered, and that's when his trouble-making career started, and he started gaining the Mist favor. He really believed he was the chosen to be the Keeper of Mistlocke, the Lord of the Last Keep -and- the King of the Veil (hint. :D  ). He developed schizophrenia, creating the King in his mind, and his true self the Lord who served this king, so those who thought he was getting mad, was quite right. Huntsman, Footman or Aberdenn Bannerman and Leatherworker, he was always the same no matter the uniform.

Building a reputation

His friends

His great pride

I'm sure Ordermen at Blackhearth Castle loved the shipments he took them

And the fight for the CROWN! Yeah, he had to crush his own cousin for it.

Finally Crowned: THE KING OF THE VEIL

Learning with a true hunter

And the Loot

RIP

Smogson would not be half the fun it was to play if it was not for the amazing player base and DMs. This server is a true jewel. Thanks everyone!

Drakein Pluvia (Bearic) , Wieland Laehu (SmellyDruid) Hoo`Dow (EyeLookEyeSee)

Public praise on the sportsmanship and courtesy of these players. I was on Mavell Smogson looking for trouble in the wilds and provoked these characters to a fight that broke up. Flavorful dialog, and cool fight (three on one, but still pretty balanced and ICly acceptable), brawl went on for a while, when my connection crashed and I saw nothing for a while. When the connection came back, my character was near death and eventually fell. The PCs noticed I had crashed, and just gave me some lecturing, took blood samples and let me go with no further consequences. It was bad for everyone, for it could have gone differently, but we'll never know. My praise is for the players being so classy, and apology for the crash, which took away the shine of their victory.

EFU Has a great player base and that's why it's awesome.

Introductions and Group Management / The Smogsons!
September 14, 2012, 05:45:35 AM
-- Application Needed --

Smogson Family Tome

Not exactly a group character concept, nor a faction. It is a simple invitation for new PCs to share some similar background. The Smogsons are a family scattered among villagers of Mistlocke. Cousins, brothers, uncles... They are on their second/third generation in Mistlocke. It is said that Patriarch Joe Smogson was a bastard who had a lot of children, brothers, cousins and lovers, and claimed to be blessed by the Mist itself. He played no important role in the founding of Mistlocke and was one of the first villagers to be chosen for the lottery, and received the nickname "Smogson" for being either surrounded by Mist, Smoke from his pipe, or both. Old Smogson was illiterate and hardly kept any journals or records, so little history has been kept about him, and lore about this man is in tales of his descendants, the Smogsons. Most of his descendants are among the Last Keep villagers, farmers, carpenters, former Mustermen, lumberjacks, Aberdenn Bannersmen and Caermyn associates, Ordermen, Wyrm Watcher Rovers, some may even have mixed up with Argenti Gypsies. This leaves the possibility of existance of Smogson PCs and NPCs all around the Shrouded Islands. Most of them fear/respect/worship the Mist.

Smogsons Lore have been slowly and steadily developed by PCs who have played family members and a thing or two thrown out there by DMs. Although I came up with the idea, I do not claim property to this, so whoever gets their stories passed through their Smogson concept is welcome to. I am also always willing to answer any question one may have, if I can, about the concept, although really there is no vast official history.

Some 'requirements':
Religion: Anything related to the Mist is more likely, but anything is possible.
Alignment: Any
Races: Human (Half-elf or Half-Orc bastards, unlikely but possible)
Classes: non Druid. (Sorcerers, Paladins, and anything of the sort, very unlikely)
Some initial knowledge about Mistlocke and the setting is advisable.
Don't forget your pitchfork and torch! :)
Initial Feats that are very common and important for Smogsons: "Strong Soul" and "Luck of Heroes". (This should reflect their Mist touched nature).

"The Mist Be our Walls!"

Major credit to Caster who has revamped the whole concept, gathered/generated lore and for the family coat of arms

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Jano, the -GREAT- adventurer.
September 14, 2012, 02:35:49 AM
Neutral Neutral - Human
Rogue (3) - Ranger (3) - Barbarian (2)
Current XP [TNL]: 32506 [3494]
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Deity: Beshaba
Gold: 0

Max Hit Points: 75
Strength: 16
Dexterity: 14
Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 14
Wisdom: 10
Charisma: 12

Jano was a villager who started scavenged for a living. It was when he started scavenging further and further, and collecting dead adventurer's gear, he started becoming an adventurer himself. After surviving his first adventures, he thought he was already a 'great' adventurer and sought the most daring expeditions. He ventured the underdark twice, completed all most dangerous scripted quests (except for Sinister Enclave I think). The OOC idea was exactly that, to adventure freely and without fear. He got infected with Verduran Predation, assaulted and 'fed' on people, then turned himself in to the authorities, promise he would not do that again, sought cure everywhere, joined the Watchers... He was one of the two who survived the trip to retrieve the giant giant's blood to feed Marcail, which made her turn into the machine of destruction she is now. However, the hunger killed him slowly, and becoming weaker and weaker for adventuring, he ended up dead in one of his adventures. I enjoyed playing him lot, thanks for the interactions everyone! His end was not epic, but he had epic moments in life, I guess that's what counts.

As for screenies, I hardly have his most epic moments, specially the Giant frost giant's event. I hope Thorvald's player has it, it was really scary. I however, have some, occasionally taken, I should really learn how to take scren shots when real cool stuff happen.

Cheers Efu!

Well, Buckbane has finally met his end, and to a formidable foe. I would be so sad if he died to no other than one of the family Aberdenn.

I have much to thank a lot of people who he interacted with, DMs Mort, Shadow Charlatan, Talir, Jayde Moon, Nuke...

it was a blast playing this crazy crow.

Here's a bit about him

This character was created on Saturday, March 31st, 2012 at 11:00:47 PM.
Since creation, this character has logged on and off 368 times.
The character has spent 24 days, 15 hours, 16 minutes, and 41 seconds online.

Markin Buckbane was a cheap Chondathan mercenary in Shadowdale. He only got small contracts, and always tried to pass as more professional than he was. Upon being teleported to Ymph, he saw a chance to actually build a good reputation. So, he sought employment in the most prominent house of the hamlet he settled, Mistlocke. Now as Mercenary Lieutenant for Caermyn, he intended to rise even more in the eyes of Menaster, and lead Caermyn Men-at-Arms as their captain, and take the Clan to glory through "Fight and Fortune", as well as earn his given name "Buckbane" as an extention of his title, "The Buckbane", as in the bane of the Aberdenn clan. All Markin cared was about coin and glory, and he battled for it, sometimes by the side of the law, sometimes not. So his motto was "Fight and Fortune". After many accomplishments, he finally met his end in a duel to death against the son of Gadyw Aberdenn, a fitting end.

I have a lot of other screen shots somewhere. Of the loot as well, but I am not sure if one is allowed to post custom loot screenshots.

Cheers, EFU!

Bug Reports / Voice command: SETBACKPACK

Voice command "Setbackpack" doesn't recognize the commands for the different types of 'backpack' anymore.  (Gratsword, scabbard, quiver, etc).

The idea is simple: Oppose the Mist Raiders, and actually steal their ship! Got ye balls for that?

Screen Shots & Obituaries / HASHALL
February 20, 2012, 07:16:55 AM
The prick is finally dead. Surprisingly, died in a perma death quest, not assassinated.

Hashall was an impulsive, sometimes deceptive, lawful brute. Former street ruffian in the slums of Amn, this young man has been avoiding misfortune at all costs after being randomly teleported to the cursed Archipelago. Upon finding Mistlocke, he was surprised by how easily one could join the local guard and so he did. At first, lived on small bribes and was more of a thuggish guard. Within time, he learned that the law could serve him well on getting by in life, and slowly became lawful by his actions, becoming a fallen barbarian, proud law-man who wished to take it to the max.

Got no screenies of his cool loot, nor of his best moments for that matter. Got some though.

Bug Reports / "Whisperer" Perk
January 30, 2012, 03:44:18 AM
It only works on others. It has happened in the past, then came back to work again. Now it does not work properly anymore. If this perk has been intentionally nerfed, then I suggest it to at least retain the stealth bonuses to the caster. In case this is an effect of the Perk been removed, I would like to get my regular Turn Undead Back. The character is Gofro Hexney, and the account is Hex-Hazard. Thanks

Bug Reports / Cleric Tool: Not working at all
January 25, 2012, 04:12:07 AM
Well, just got my cleric tool, and it does not work in any of both features. Prayers are not collected, doesn't even give the other player a message. And Conventions work - exactly-  like 'Search Pack' tool.
The Character is Gofro Hexney and the account is hex-hazard.
Thanks

Screen Shots & Obituaries / JACK BUGHOUSE
January 13, 2012, 06:17:28 AM
And this is the end of the elven-blood lumberjack. A very simple and fun concept, Jack Bughouse was raised by his foster father Lumberjack Bughouse, an Uthgardan, being the son of a Wild elf woman and a human rapist, but he never found this out. Always had a simple life, aiding his father with lumber logging, and learned how to wield the axe and fight by himself. Finding himself in Ymph and wanted to become some sort of hero, joining Clan Aberdenn (which is an awesome association) to work as their logger, but then, truly believed he could make a difference in saving the island from H'bala, and find the King of the Isles, to serve him.
It was a very short run, but it happens!

The Wyrm Watchers are awesome, I recommend them, and now they need people.

Thanks to all who interacted with me!

Sadly I'm one of those who never takes screen shots, only remembered to do it when noticed he was gonna die, and some other couple of times.

*CHOP CHOP*

He was a proud Wyrm Watcher!

He was seeking not only the King...

But in this island, death is always on the corner... But the "Watcher" inside him will not give up the search and watching, even after death...

And he made new friends!

Bug Reports / Regarding Merchant Licenses
November 26, 2011, 01:08:03 AM
Higgins is still there, which makes me a bit confused, once she left the Market saying she would not pay the for the license. Should I take it ICly and bust her again for not having the license?

Also, the NPC who provides the license is not working.

Those who got their apps passed, please PM me, some details I would like to discuss and all, also we could get together in IRC.

Bug Reports / One handed trident for small races
June 18, 2011, 05:56:08 PM
yep, small races seem to get the use of Tridents as one handed weapon too, which is weird. I would think to be intended the use of them two handed, for small, and one handed for medium.

Suggestions / Trials - Executions
April 18, 2011, 12:54:21 AM
To avoid having to be around for long and boring trials, RPing on something that you know will just end with your character's death should be optional. I suggest that it should be given the option to just emote [and then he was trialed, judged guilty and executed], so players who have life outside the game and don't have all the time in the world to play, actually spend his hours on a character that he at least hope will get somewhere or have some development, opposite to have to log and emote his own trial/execution for hours and hours, sometimes days, waiting to find out his fate, just to learn he will lose his char anyway.

Bug Reports / XP gained randomly
April 13, 2011, 06:24:31 AM
Well, not that I don't like to get XP, but my character has been gaining 100 XP constantly, out of the blue, one time I was even AFK, and when came back got 100 XP. First I thought I was being amazing and getting DM xp, but sadly I think it's a bug. The character's name is Bosh Ruffjaw, account ''villain for hire"

Suggestions / Disable Evasion in heavy armor
April 07, 2011, 01:06:58 AM
It makes more sense and should make things more interesting as well. Hard imagining someone hopping around and dodging fireballs in a superheavy armor set. Which is fairly common, since Fighter/Rogues is something very common out there
