So,  Figik-  Bastard of Figan (he was not) , Captain of  Orza (Not even close) founder of the Dwarven Orzan Brigade (nope)  last surviving member of the Sons of Iron Massacre (still one out there somehwere)  has met his end.  Nothing heroic, no grand gestures or speeches.  Lost a fight, killed for being  himself.    He excelled at surviving when those around him died.   Ticker, Sons of Iron, Anglers, most of the Orzan Retainers,  half the serever in Andyrs vault., like the cockroach neigh unkillable!   But even the cockroach gets stepped on.  So it goes with Figik.    I was going to try and create the Dworza  brigade, but we all know that was doomed to never see the light of day, but a dwarfs gotta dream.    His vengeance on Dame Kingsley left unfulfilled, his high hopes crushed in a street brawl.      That was the IC Figik you all came to love or hate.  Foul mouthed, quick to violence,  full of  anger and hate, but underneath  a big softy if you got on his good side.

OOC- I apped to claim the bastard angle.  He made it all up.   He made up his own title when he found himself the most senior retainer, and as no one called him on it..he like he had done most of his life, following in the steps of a Shaper (Uld Storytellers of histories, usually false) he embellished, lied and made himself grandiose.    Survival was his main goal in life, with an eye to take the Grey keep for himself when the nothing forced all to flee kingward, which he was sure was an inevitability after Andyr's vault.

Now,  the reason I rolled up and played ole Fig, and stuck with him so long, probably well  past his expiration date, was simply this.   I missed my friend Dize.  I never got to say goodbye in any real way, and wanted to play an unconventional dwarf that would attempt to Dizes  high  level of play.  I don't think I got there by half, but it let me mention his  and my last duo  concept together, his Uld  -Figan Uld. ..and I dropped that name as much as I could,  because as long as someone is remembered, there not really gone, right?   The hurt is still there, but  it does seem somehow healed a bit by putting so much time and effort into a PC in his memory. Maybe that is silly, but ..its what I did.  I still miss you friend, I hope I made you smile with Figiks antics!

Now..the reason your all here, the Loot!  His Hammer, his prized possesion.   The rest of his gear was House issue, save his magnificent scarf. Which I do not have a screenie of. Enjoy!

Played a Retainer before the gear nerf and after, and the gear is def nerfed.  In the end though, that is minor due to the ease of joining a house .   Free resting, storeage, sometimes plus 10 crafting stations, safe haven behind locked doors is a thing alot of non retainers do not enjoy..tho alot of recent game mods have made that less important then in the past..
Story telling matters.  I hate apps as I am lazy but I like Lallena have seen a dirth of recruits join a house get aid in getting faction gear and then just go poof., for whatever reason.  I think making apping to join a House may be appropriate. ...but..only if the Major Houses had more to offer in conflict resolution-   PVP unsupervised for Retainers in the Ward when enforcing "laws, tariffs, council rulings, etc  I think this used to be a thing, or maybe folks just ignroed the DM Present rule alot in the past........  non FD pvp of course,  FD should always have a DM about.   The app would hopefully limit the number of Retainers to those seeking a longer term concept and perhaps naive in my thinking but also prevent abuse of such a   "law enforcement roll".

But wtf do I know, perhaps the decline of the Ward is exactly as intended as we approach what feels like doomsday, just stateing my lived truth! .   Truly it is playing with a group that makes efu fun,  as VP said above.   Maybe apps would just make the Ward retainer population even less..  ok..old man rant over.

Alsdastan was my favorite Moonspear. Period.     Loved playing your antagonist on Typherion, and  watching your story unfold from afar on Taban, too mixing it up with you  in the current incarnation..   Best Paladin portrayal I have seen in the Ward.     Such an amazing story arc from  a fallen, broken man  so long ago.. to the right hand of his Lord Lyon..   Well done.    Hope your proud of his story, I am.

Caster, my old friend, was an honor to run so many rings with you IC and OOC.   Brie was always an intrigue, and once I got to know her on Taban, a delight to watch grow into her ..new role!    "Golf Clap"  Well played, well played.

Typherion was a child soldier, who survived into Adult hood .  His comrade in arms his family,  more at home on a battlefield then a warm cottage.   The spear and shield his comfort,  the blood and mud his bed.    I cannot go into great detail on the latter part of his life, for reasons!  But..he was sent to get next to and kill, Aatish.  Become her trusted champion, and when the time comes,  put a spear through her heart.     That time was drawing very close, then efu did what it does..and  the darkness consumed him.  Still in the twilight between right and wrong, good and evil..when Aatish was murdered,  it pushed him  wholly over to the edge.     Aatish pentient for mercy was her weakness, a mistake he would not make.    Thin the herd,  force Lyons hand.  Kill enough, and he would come.     While everyone was talking of duels of honor,  Typherion was wageing war.   Own the dark places,  force the fight onto favorable ground.  Psychological warfare over  the sending's, and enage with overwelming force in the field.

He started out Lawful Good, and ended up Lawful Evil.  It was a hell of a ride,  thanks to House Moonspear peeps for being amazing allies and even better enemies,  special thanks to Vanilla Pudding for letting me flail about at Aatish side, (my first FD in like 10 years, what have you done?)   to the exile crew for showing me the ropes,  to Glyph for starting it all way back when!  And the rest of the legion of Shadow cultists, keep rockin!       And of course, DM Secutor and DM Bearic,  who held my hand through the last days of me trying to figure out  how to exist as a Villain.  I have some cool screenies I will put in here later today , soon as I find them all.

Aatish was a brilliant villain and a staunch Ally.   Always superbly done, VP.     Top shelf!

Off-topic Discussion / Re: The Passing of Diz-e
October 31, 2021, 08:12:03 PM
Oh my god,  I am crushed..Diz-e was a real life friend of mine,  We used to go out  for drinks in Clearwater Fl when I was in town.  I had not heard from him in a month or so..my heart just broke. He was amazing,  caring, thoughtful, charitable  ..someone  I was honored to have met in NWN and become friends in RL and in our beloved game.   God Speed, Dize.   I will mourn you tonight and celebrate you forever.  One of a kind.   Never to be forgotten .

Thanks Howland for the notice..doubt I would of known any  other way, I moved to the other side of the country.

I have found, alot of ones EFU experience is whom you share it with.  In my case, Angvalad (Grix) hooked me into the new chapter, and the LT (Merrychase) kept me here.   Thanks for telling such an amazing story, you will be greatly missed. I hope you visit us again from time to time.

Saibhons sermons and his interactions with Illian literally changed how the dwarf saw life in the Rings.  Not a conversion, per say, but it definetly reshaped his view of what occcured around him.  It was a pleaseure to play alongside Saibhon, and an honor to *spoilers*.

Ilian was basicaly the perfect example of failing forward.  I had been gone  from efu 2? years ,,maybe more, and the Pandemic handed me ample time to pick up a time consuming hobby!  So I dove in, knowing nothing about the new chapter, no plans, schemes, just rolled up what I felt most at ease playing and swam in the currents.   I died just about every week, never held on to level 8 more then a few days..and have no DM loot to show you.  Everything he carried was just stuff he got off quests or bought off a PC vendor.   Average in every way, below average in most.  I got lucky, and found three solid groups to play with..first, the Greystones.   What a time to be a dwarf, that was!  Thanks to all those who died too soon!  Then the original Deep Delver crew, when I decided to give Ringrunnin a go.   Cannot go into any detail cause spoilers, but if you have not gone running them rings, you are missing sooo much content!  Do it!   ...and finally, his last family, the Lancers.   What a solid concept,  start to finish.  If you get the chance to join the ranks,  you will not regret it.  So much depth and breath to that little player faction full of top notch RP,  not to meniton  a group dynamic  that was bar none the best I have had since Chptr 1.    I got to Ring 64,  and had an Epic death alongside  brothers and sisters in arms. (the two are not concurent)   What more can you ask for?   No screenies were taken, but the Lancers post plenty, and Illian is in alot of them.   Speacial Thanks to  Saibhon for all the sermons, I genuinely enjoyed listening to them!! And to  Grix and Eaaramion for mentoring  Illian in the early, an final days,  and Merrychase for taking him under her wing when he was alone and lost.

I miss playing with  the Lancers already, so I know it was a good ride!
