On February 2, 2021, my dad died suddenly due to heart failure, a combination of obesity, alcoholism, and drug use caused him to expire prematurely and suddenly. It was sudden, swift, and heart breaking. Grief and depression put me in a dark spot as I dealt with the sudden loss of close family. He was a man who adopted my brother and I brother after marrying my mom, a man who backed me in no matter what I did, even if he expressed his disapproval, and ensured I could lead a comfortable life. He was a role model and a upstanding man of principles who fought his own demons while being the best father he could, and I miss him dearly still.

When I made Grindler Deeprock, I wanted to find something to laugh at again, and EFU's environment and its own brand of absurdist humor appealed to me greatly. I wanted to bring Deeprock Galactic to EFU, a video game I've spent hundreds of hours playing as it truly is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The premise of the game is that you're dwarves fighting back hordes of insectoid monsters in order to mine minerals for the Company you work for, and part of the fluff lore is that Karl, a missing miner, is well, missing. I transplanted this largely into EFU, a clan of dwarves who lived deep beneath the earth in the Underweald of Ring 98, wanting nothing to do with the world beyond, but forced to interact with it as the closest settlements were the Peerage Ward, the ponds, all human dominated wards.

I admittedly copy/pasted much of this lore/plot/fluff into EFU, and in retrospect, I should have at least changed names. However, in retrospect again, I didn't expect this to turn into a two month journey of Grindler and friends journeying repeatedly into the bowels of the earth, uncovering secrets of the Chitinoid Empire beneath and working beside alien allies to find Thane Karl Deeprock.

Grindler was a dwarf who hated the Peerage Ward but respected that the humans bled, fought, and died for this territory, and it was their place to set the rules and traditions within. He didn't want to rock boats, and sought to ally himself firmly to House Glitt, tantalizing and gifting relics of the King to them in exchange for a light shield of support from the antics of other Retainers belonging to other houses, if tossing the notion of clan fealty to the house in exchange for their aid in finding Karl Deeprock, their Thane.

None of it came to pass, of course, the Clan knew it couldn't fulfill the obligations of fealty to the Glitt, but the retainers of the House entertained it and protected them off and on, and that was enough to operate in the Peerage with little interference of the other Great Houses. He gathered supplies, met with allies, worked on behalf of the nobles, all to secure resources to find Karl.

The first break through came when they spotted a White Scarabi Titan after causing a Scarabi Swarm in the Infested Chambers, upon its chitinous head lay Karl's Axe.

And we met strange Scarabi Personalities...

But sadly, in the end, we failed our mission, but I am satisfied with the end of the story.

Thank you EFU for giving me a chance to laugh in grief and make a meme into a dream.

There should be a box dedicated to 'what you're applying for' so it can't be  lost in the other boxes.

Bug Reports / Orza Guards with the Same Waypoint?
March 19, 2021, 12:26:47 AM

Not a big deal, but these guards seem to stand in the same spot constantly and I think this is perhaps not intended.

The Infested Chambers are below the Drips, and should probably apply for FE vermin given the beetle menace present.

Vermin

    +4 vs poison.
    +1 Reflex.
    Spell Immunity: Web.
+2 Listen, +2 Spot, +1 AB, +1 AC, while within the Sewers.

Introductions and Group Management / Clan Deeprock
February 08, 2021, 11:26:43 PM
Deep in the mysterious underweald of ring 98, lay a small clan of dwarves, far divorced from the concerns of Clan Uld and the line of Bomor.

Xenophobic and afraid, they feared the Sun and delved deep into the earth, fighting the bewitching arachnid horror and the infestation. Fighting deep orc and goblin for every tooth and nail of ore and stone. Clan Deeprock was neither wealthy or great, but it was loyal to their Thane Karl.

Karl led an expedition to the 'higher stratas', and signs of an ambush by their dreaded enemy, the Scarabi, took place, and the signs of the still living Thane kidnapped and taken with him.

Their Thane, kidnapped, the dwarves rose their pickaxes, and shouted, "FOR KARL" and drew lots on who would go after him to find signs of their Thane.

We are those dwarves, and we've vowed not to return until the Thane is safe and sound.

Classes: Any,  including druid.
Alignment: Any, though psychopaths might find it hard.
Race: Dwarf, and only dwarf, and only dwarves will be accepted. Also, Deeprock should be our last name.

Goal: Find Karl

Rock and Stone, brothers.

Eith the mongrelwoods having moved, we need one to escape the woods...

Same as suggestion title, but basically, it seems a shame not to use all those cool h'bala themed spawns (such as withered druids and their maggots) and retool them for Yevethax or similar...

Bug Reports / Planar Fragments: Dungeons
August 28, 2020, 11:38:24 AM
In the northern part of the map there's a place that spawns imp pyromancers + lurkers, then there is a locked door with a DC of 35.

This door relocks after awhile, and so if you opened it via familiar ooze lock picking powers, and desummon it, you're stuck in the room.

Suggestions / More Benefits from Planar Madness
August 20, 2020, 08:38:10 AM
Hey,

there is a very heavy physical attribute penalty from planar madness. Making it ...not worth it, despite the bonuses.

If there was an additional +2 intelligence or perhaps other intriguing bonuses- like the Unpredictable Fluctuation on spell DC applied, it could be very interesting!

As title, it's not really necessary to restrict other wards anymore.

Suggestions / Rumor Systems for the Wards
August 11, 2020, 12:26:20 PM
1. A lot of outdated rumors in the Peerage, referencing the tournament of awakenings over a year ago. I think it could use updating to reflect more relevant ic events (torc war, etc...)
2. Burgage Herald: Same as above.
3. Ticker rumors refer to them still being independent of the Peerage.

Bug Reports / Merchant Stalls
August 09, 2020, 01:05:55 AM
When you revoke a stall's claim,  you get a message a few minutes later (I assume at the duration of a fully claimed stall would naturally be at?) that the stall is no longer rented.

However, if you were to revoke your claim, then come back later to claim it, before your stall 'time' would be naturally up from the first time, your second rentage prematurely ends.

PC: Arnold Berryson
Place: Ticker Merchant Stalls

The Worshipful Guild of Conquerors-
Is a new Spiffy Faction who wants to smash shit, break stuff, and take whatever is left over in true conqueror fashion!

Led by Arnold Berryson, he hopes to organize the former brigand, the bloodthirsty Yemani, the marauder- I want folks who want to play openly evil concepts such as slavers, plunderers, and more a home as we take from the weak, the meek, and make the servile our slaves.

Classes: Any
Deity: Martial or Evil Gods recommended
Alignment: Definitely non-good, I would recommend chaotic and evil.

This is a very aggressive faction, with a high chance to burn bright then die. I am playing a merchant rogue, so I want to handle the finances of our shenanigans, and let you rip through the rings without worrying about supplies.

It'll take awhile to get there, but I am sure we can do it. ;)

Bug Reports / Release Undead not functioning
August 01, 2020, 12:37:12 AM
I tried to release my undead, and they were certainly removed from my party, but they kept following me around, even through transitions. I even tried relogging, and that didn't do anything, it just teleported the undead to me.
