Alternatives to expertise actually wouldn't be so bad if done properly. But they shouldn't get special stances like monks for sure.  When I think alternative uses to expertise I'm thinking get rid of the default bonuses and replace it with something "flavorful".  Like say you get 10% elemental protection but 10% physical elemental vulnerability while activated.  (Just a crude example)

Of course this might not even be possible without some extensive tweaking.

He kept to his doctrine and beliefs even when faced with certain death/mutilation.  The dedication you had playing him so consistently is something I could only dream of having.  Can't wait to see what's next.

Its meant to be stationary.  Albeit it makes it useless for anything other than luring mobs which is a bit against the rules at any rate.  Could use a revision methinks.

Those bonuses are not as good as people like to think they are.  Especially a movement speed bonus that as far as I know doesn't stack with haste.  

But yeah, the reroll is to make it so those with "athletic perk" never fail.  Which is reasonable.  Invisibility sphere is pretty weak sauce as it only lasts a few rounds and only applies within a very limited radius.  

Just some minor additions to reinforce the theme of the perks rather than make them more powerful.  Things that can't be supplemented with potions or magic as the current bonuses currently can.

Implants and other aberrant devices being more common in quests.  With suitable consequences for being caught using them.
