What is it:  A Trade/Crafting Union

Where is it:  The Souk

What is its deal:
In the last, oh, 150ish years of Western, particularly American history, trade unions have served a rather unique and aggressive purpose in the political climate.  They tend to be a concentrating force of wealth and labor, and then leverage those things as a battering ram to bludgeon, bribe, and grease politicians to do what they want.  They've also served as a means of direct political action for those who can't actually get into politics or go into the military... Union War Bonds and Union shop specific contracts were very much a thing that happened during multiple wars. They helped keep people employed through tough times, they helped ensure that the prices of manufactured goods didn't skyrocket, etc.

That's kinda the vibe we're shooting for. We're making money for the War Council, being overly patriotic and well meaning (and in many ways we actually are), and ultimately the goal is to act as a sort of mercantile arm of the politics for the city, representing trade, crafting, and wealthy financial interests, with dinari, political pressure, and backroom dealings being our tools of the trade.

Can I be in this while doing other stuff:  We are now officially on the Stele of Law as an organization, so you can't belong to both the Union and, say, an Accorded faction or the Torchbearers or the Sandstone College or whatever. It'll be worth it! Eventually we may even have a salary!

Who would be a good fit:  Unions are a misunderstood concept, even in modern times.  While they often can get up to nefarious deeds and underhanded types of dealings, ultimately they're more about really shrewd business and actually helping the common worker or merchant, and maintaining the ideas of fair trade, worker protections, financial stability, etc. As such, any Alignment other than being overtly CE could honestly find some sort of niche they could advance within the org.

More importantly, almost everyone is a merchant or crafter of some sort, however that doesn't mean we couldn't have salesmen, security people, etc.
