On this quest, IN the last room with the head Gnoll - the loot chests can be destroyed by AOE spells preventing the party from getting any loot.

Unless there is something i am missing is this actually a bug?

If you burn a wooden chest to dust with a fireball wouldn't the things in it also be destroyed?

Perhaps use other tactics if you want to gain the loot?

This quest has practically no loot to begin with, And no, you cannot say that something which would destroy a piece of wood would unerringly destroy everything it contains.

Yes. It is a bug.

This has happened on Maze and the DMs fixed it, so I imagine this is the same

Probably it could have stayed the way it is, but for the sake of future parties I fixed it anyway.
