Title: the Chauntean Ring
Post by: St Juste on May 21, 2009, 01:10:13 AM
I'm become the owner of a Chauntean Ring, the description say A simple ring made out of petrified wood. It hold some value toward farmers as a symbol of Chauntea, the Earth Mother

If the power of the item is truly linked to the earth mother maybe a limit on alignement  (only good or neutral) ...

Pointless IMO

Although I agree we could use more alignment linked drops that aren't Evil aligned, simple tokens like that shouldn't have restrictions.

...and evil pcs can still be farmers or worship Chauntea.

Yep. Chauntea being True Neutral, she can have PRIESTS of any alignment, so naturally her followers could also be of any alignment without trouble.

She cannot have clerics of any alignment actually, according to the information on her. Her alignments for clerics are CG, LG, N, and NG.

Ah, and she is Neutral Good.

It still doesn't matter. Except for the case of divine casters who needs the correct alignment to cast, your alignment doesn't matter.

*rolls up a Lawful Good Cyricist*
Well, it's MOSTLY flexible. :P

I mean, I had a plan for a LE Tyrran at one point, but I can't see a CG Banite working.

Alignment restricted items are typically ways to reward characters who take a stance towards good or evil with more access to equipment. Evil characters have a pretty good selection for instance, but there are a few useful good only drops. The reasoning behind this is that it can be measurably more difficult to defend against LN, TN, and CN characters due to the fact that Protection from Good/Evil do not work against them.

As an aside, as cool as it sounds, LE Tyrrans do not get spells by my understanding. You could still make one, you just wouldn't be able to get cleric spells.
