Quote from: Meldread;87281Really, the swarms and stuff isn't that hard - use archers to draw them through the door.  As they pass through have your frontliners near the door and close it, as the archer runs to the back.  Do it again if you didn't get everything out, and then once all his allies are owned you can take him down.

Er, i've never done that quest, but isn't that luring?

As long as you lure all the enemies using ranged weapons, its fine.

Wow... that's not cool. Two things here:

First of all, please post something like SPOILER WARNING at the top of your posts if they're going to contain detailed information about a quest. Plzthxbye.

Secondly, this DOES sound incredibly overpowered. Then again, that's what I said about Scalehill, and then we pwnt it with magnicifent tactics and beauteous combat...

But please look into this oh kind and loving DMs who don't like to see people made into mummy food.

I've done the quest once. I found it amazing! What a challenge.

Barely defeated the Boss, used all our consumables on the way, lucky one person among five of us had a weapon enhancement to beat the Boss. Crawled out of there on our knees.

In any event, you can always run away if it gets unbearable. Everything doesnt have to die. Including us.

Against. The boss is a fine challenge and the quest is difficult, as it should be. More treasure!

Ooops. Very, very sorry. Forgot a spoiler warning, and was trying to make it specific to why I felt it was unreasonably tough compared to the rest.

To state my point a bit more that "boss too hard ;)" without spoilers:
The boss fight alone seems more difficult than all the rest of the quest put together. I say this from the experience of 3 times doing it, each time managing to kill literally everything but the boss.

Boss uses a very powerful device.

Boss has a self-targeting ability that I consider overpowered.

General challenge level is tough but good and doable with careful tactics and reasonable supplies, but without a massive amount of certain consumables the boss will own you hard.

Compared to Seers, in a walk in the park

I may tweak him a bit, but he can be ridiculously easy for certain classes within the 3-7 level range, and I understand that level 4 and under SHOULD have a relatively hard time against him (Which is 60% of the server at this moment).

I will probably up the reward, however.

This quest is tough.  I can't really comment about the rewards as we couldn't beat it, but what we managed to drag out did not approach our investment in items consumed.

And yeah, in our case, we couldn't beat the possessed boss.

It wouldn't be that much of an issue, if the quest wasn't broken and you could end it.

Did this quest 7 hours ago and it was working as intended.

As Snotty said.  This is the second time that I was unable to 'end a quest'.  I don't know that the quest itself was broken, maybe some other bug?

But yes, after a very long and arduous 2+ hours in the quest, we arose victorious only to have the main guy go, "Enh?  You haven't killed him yet?"

"Yes, we killed him!"

"So ye haven't killed him yet is what yer sayin?  Well, go kill him!"

"But we already did!  Give us the gold, fool!"

"Ye'll get yer gold when ye killed the feller!"

"BAH!"  ;)

I think upping the reward could be nice! Although some very nice things seem to have dropped for a few people. Just for some feedback on this quest, with a rather powerful party we still end up using quite a bit of consumables (Which is not an issue!) But the boss does not seem too difficult if you go in prepared! It's a fine quest as it is, in my eyes- So long as some of the nicer items weren't disabled from dropping!

Up the reward, not depower the quest.

I think it's fine as is, not every gnoll run was OMG AWESOME LOOT, nor Urdlen Run, though this quest is admittedly tougher.

I did it about 16-18 hours ago, and it wasn't. See my post in bug reports forum. Maybe the reset fixed it, but I doubt it.

Must be an intermittent issue then. I'm positive we were able to complete it.
