Title: New Consumables for DC boosting.
Post by: Egon the Monkey on August 05, 2009, 10:44:07 PM
Something I have noticed on EfU is that it is far easier to get saves vs a spell than it is to get your DC improved. Large amounts of save gear, especially against poison and fear, and plenty of will/mind save boosting items.

Since though, Wisdom and Charisma have serious beneficial effects for Monks and Pallies repectively, potions of say Greater Wisdom, not a great plan.

So, what's the thoughs on Wizard only items that grant something like a 1 turn +4 INT bonus, Sorc items for a 3 turn CHA bonus, and Druid/Cleric items for a 3 turn +4 WIS bonus (but a -2 Willsave penalty so it only gets used offensively not vs will effects). A sort of spell-power equivalent of chugging Aid/Divine favour/Bless.

We've got some neat scripted consumables already, and I feel these would be a good addition.

After playing multiple wizards on this server I must respectfully disagree.

Ioun stone effects are already in game and stack with other int, wisdom, or charisma boosting effects.  You're also quite capable of empowering whatever effect you use to boost your DCs for even greater capabilities.  Add in Greater Spell Focus and you've got spells that even those who invest everything into saves couldn't make.

Save DCs are in fact, in my opinion, too high for certain spells already.  I've been able to hit fully buffed will save strong classes with will save spells that utterly cripple them quite easily.

Neutral alignment alone with no spell focus or greater spell focus, can utterly devastate most people.

Going to have to disagree to anything that increases spell DCs further unless its something that is earned on a server changing DM quest.  There are already items that can be earned with spell focus on them, if you're willing to take risks during certain events. -.-
