Getting the quest and searching the rubble works perfectly, although he says he will trade things for the valuables and you do not seem to get anything for doing it except 4 exp, and the Scavenged Valuables being removed. I brought him three pieces.

As of v106, the governing script has been pretty much completely rewritten. Since quest testing can't be done locally, we're waiting for a live test.
As of 4:46 CDT, you can turn in scavenged items. It gives you 4xp per item, but nothing else.
Indeed. I should probably have specified that we're currently running v104. >.>
Also, I accidentally removed the XP. I'll get that sorted out for 107.
As of 10:13pm CDT, the quest has reverted back to not awarding you anything for what you find. Although I can happily report you still can find scraps. I've got about 50 I can't turn in. :p

In all the rubble and debris placeables, I have -never- gotten -anything-.
You have to pass a Search check and be on the quest.
