In the conversation discussing the difference between a citizen and a patrician, she states that one must swear an Oath of Loyalty to the Count and Lord Alemander Sharboneth.

Obviously this should not be the case anymore.

And when you get papers it says you're a subject to Alemander Sharboneth.
