Title: Lightning Spells

I think lightning bolt and ball lightning should get a 1 round stun if the save is failed.  I know that if you were zapped IRL you'd be stunned for a second.  It adds a bit of strenght to the spells while not overpowering them.

I would also ask that their dmg output be increase to 1d10 per level like call lightning. {{Exempting chain lightning.}} These spells tend to be less useful than fireball etc...

Nah no damage increase, just a small stun would be excellent.  They are very useful in the right situations.  Also, only if you FAIL the save outright.

One round stun allows another spell to be cast, and that sounds a bit powerful for a spell that does damage.

Ball lightning suggestion was already discussed a while back and I thought it was going to be put in actually. Don't feel like searching for it though but have a look.

Spell mechanics aren't about anything IRL, they're about providing (balanced) options and versatility to people with magic. There may be other things in electrical spells vs. fire spells that you're not considering; for example, range, prevalence of save gear, etc.

Call lightning is allowed to have more damage because it only works in certain areas at certain times.
 
 
Also, isn't scintillating sphere basically the same as ball lightning?

Ah, good point Scotty... Well, it was just an idea.  I think in PnP it can stun you as well is where I got the idea.

Gedlees electric loop is a lightning stun attack.

Not all lighting attack need stuns, other wise you'd have to go into the whole "all ice spells need on hit chance to freeze an opponent" and "all fire spells must make your opponent scream in agony and run around... on fire.

Its not worth altering, RL shouldnt have much impact on IG stuff.

just emote *aguhaguaghs in shock* when hit by lightning and stop moving for a round, or conversely *shoots out lightning that causes an agonizing stun for 6 seconds*
