Title: Summons: Improved Caster Level?
Post by: BrittanyPanthas on December 22, 2009, 05:52:05 AM
Earlier, after a rather intense PvP match, I was told by multiple people that all summons are summoned at caster level of 0, thus making them incredibly easy to dispel, which explained an oddity during the match.

Given that this makes the improved summoning reagents next to worthless against anything that can dispel, I would suggest one of the following.

1.  Improved Caster Level on the reagents so the summons are not so easily dispelled.(Perhaps even as a perk for those with Spell Focus Conjuration or GSF: Conjuration, if it can't be done for everyone.)
2.  Making it so that the summon must be dispelled directly, rather than the spellcaster, in order to have a chance at dispelling it.
3.  Making the summoning reagents have multiple uses, or so that they only have a small chance of being consumed with the spell.

You don't summon at Caster Level 0, you summon at your full caster level.

Reagents don't add anything to the chance of it being dispelled or not, as intended.

I meant that they're dispelled as if they are caster level 0 against dispel checks. The caster level is taken into account in the duration, but not against dispels.

If anything, I think a dispel should be targetted on the creature to dispel it - not the PC.

I know that, and I am saying that I don't think it works like that at all. Feel free to test though!

As far as I know, dispel checks are hardcoded and always use the caster level of the caster or item in question.

As far as I know the GetCasterLevel() is hard defined by the game, and any spell you cast is always at the caster level of your class level, or the level determined by the item or scroll you used.

While it is possible to modify dispel DCs, as far as I know it is impossible to change the base caster level (For dispel check purposes) at which a PC casts a spell.

Obviously their size is compensating for their innate caster level ...
