Title: Inn-room doors
Post by: Kotenku on January 01, 2010, 09:55:12 PM
Can Inn-room doors be changed to automatically open, rather than automatically close?

It seems like it would fix every stupid issue that comes from people
1) having meetings in public inn-rooms
2) having omgcyb0r in public inn-rooms
3) idling in public inn-rooms
4) otherwise using public inn-rooms without paying, or for unusually long times

Yes, I agree this is an extremely trivial issue, but for goodness sake, it would make so much more sense than having to open two doors to find a room that's unoccupied.

I agree with Kotenku, this suggestion totally has merit, despite its utter triviality.

This suggestion is retarded, and a waste of time, and Kotenku should be ashamed of himself.

XD Cyb0r should be religated to

Bob [lets his hands roam along Jane's back]
Jane [Kisses Bob with passion]
Bob  [throws Jane on the bed]
Jane [the sheets rumble for a few moments before she gets up completely un-impressed]
Bob [looks ashamed]
Bob, im sorry Jane... i just cant keep up with you...
Jane, Doesnt matter, you still owe me 200 Ducats for the hour block

If i was a DM and saw that, there would be DM loot...

Jane would get a ring that increases charisma by 5 points but would cause 5 NPC men to follow her around constantly emoting [Drools] and saying "Here jane i have some money, lets find a quiet place"

Bob would get a Desiese he cant get rid of and a Wallet that every day there is 20 Ducats in with a note saying "here is your Whore infection payment, not to be used for frivolus sexual favors"

I understand this was meant to be 'funny' and 'cute'... but totally not appreciated.  Just so you know.

Inn-rooms aren't really ideal for private meetings anyhow, no tables or chairs to speak of. Private rooms have the same issue, at least the meetings I have attended have been sit on the floor -type (adding tables and chairs to private rooms might not be a bad idea?).

Any chance of meeting rooms that are not meant for resting (resting not possible) and can't be bought off exclusively? Maybe a meeting cabinet or two at Kingsman?

Pissing Crone had nice little scheming rooms for instance and the library at the Last Stand was useful as well.

when innkeepers have their inns set up they label rooms for shady people and scheming

Taverns could have cabinet space for patrons to have private gatherings. That is simply part of business of tavern. I see no fictional/lore issue there.

I suppose there could be rented out by hour system, if one wants IG gold and locked doors involved. Personally simple cabinet spaces without extra scripting needed would do fine.

There is a big meeting room in the near the registration chick, that should be an ideal place to hold your meetings for alot of goodly folk,

Shady folk have plenty of places to hold their shady dealings, most shady folk should be nervous about having meetings in easy to come by places any way.

But there are many places private meetings can be held in

The Mythallar level room is fairly good idea, I agree. However, I do still think taverns themselves could offer these sort of study/cabinet rooms (depending what fits to the tavern in question). It is practical and promotes the taverns as gathering places for events.

As someone who has spent an inordinate amount of time behind closed doors sitting on soft pillows sipping wine with Wyric Crowshire, I can attest to this fact.

I still run into occupied rooms, and from time to time I'm arranging spells myself, or writing in my journal, whatever, and someone barges in...

I rarely hold a meeting in an inn room, however there's nothing wrong with expecting to be able to have at least something equivalent to a "do not disturb" sign in this manner.

Not sure if it's easy or hard to do, but it would certainly be a small improvement.

I recall once walking in to a room and witnessing a Loviatan thrashing someone with her whip.
It was quite an embarrassment for everyone involved.

I use the /c knock command myself; it works for the dominion inn, any how.

Can't you rent private rooms for a higher fee at all the Inn's with lockable doors? and storage even?

Limited to three people. Usually all taken.
