On all my PCs, any spell that adds a property to a weapon will disappear if I leave the game, either deliberately or from a crash. This always happens.
Yep. No bug.
I think it's this or a highly exploitable option so yeah, we're stuck with it sadly AFAIK :(
If you need to relog place your weapon on the ground and the properties will remain.

But your weapon may not!
While I'm here, I'd like to ask the DMs (or othe players who might have an idea) why this isn't a bug? Is there some sort of problem where if a player logs out, affects on items are "paused" and therefore won't expire like other buffs?
Exploitable.
Rarely, but common enough where it was a problem, the effects would become permanent. The weapon would have to be totally replaced or the player would have to be banned for exploiting. I'd take a permanent +3 / keen / +1d6 lightning damage weapon any day!
