Title: Subrace stats/site inconsistencies
Post by: TheImpossibleDream on February 03, 2010, 01:55:43 AM
The site claims to use the template of the base race in order to calculate the stat adjustments

So for example gold dwarf uses:

8 str 8 dex 10 con 8 wis 8 int 6 cha

Gold dwarf stats are +2 con -2 dex.

So according to the site (which is correct for this race) gold dwarf receive +2 cha and -2 dex. To compensate for the nwn stat adjustments.

However when we come to the Half-Orc template things start to get messy. So far I've noticed this on Trog and Orog:

For Trog the site lists: -2 Str +4 Con +2 cha

In game however the half orc template becomes -4 str +4 con +2 int +4 cha.

For Orog the site lists +4 str -2 dex -2 wis +2 int +4 cha

In game this amounts to +2 str -2 dex -2 wis +4 int +6 cha for the half orc template

It's really all over the place! My head hurts just trying to write this all down.

To summarize.

If the site is correct the stats in game for trog should be -2 str (to negate half orc +2) +4 con +2 cha (to negate half orc -2)

Orog stats should be +4 str (after the half orc base so thats +6) -2 dex -2 wis +2 int (to negate half orc -2) +4 cha (2 extra to negate the -2 cha from half orc and still give +2 cha)

Sorry if this post is confusing for some. It's really confusing for me as well!

Imagine writing all that for all the races, then recalculating the scores for the scripts. It took me forever and it's definitely possible I made mistakes. I do know orogs are supposed to get a total +4 Str, so +2 on top of half-orc.

Races of Fuerun 3.0 lists them as +6 str -2 dex -2 wis +2 cha and the site listing if applied to the half orc template instead of the human template matches that one <_<

Dammit, you're right. I was thinking of when we still used hides.

I think there are maybe some other discrepencies too, I noted some once but can't remember them so it might be worth doing a full-check over.

I did not make that many mistakes! I am convinced somebody has adjusted that script since it original implementation.

It's all good, just rather confusing at times on whether it's using the base stats or the race you select and then modified stats. Also, maybe adding some of the other subraces that are already implemented  to that page would be cool. Sahuagin is one example and I'm sure that there are more.
