I remember in the Underdark, there were donation bowls for some factions, that would count the donation totals given by a PC.
I don't really remember if these are displayed in EFU:A factions, but I have not found them for ones I am inclined to donate to.
Places like Pallid Mask, temples, Conclave, or whatever, would help.
yup that's all
I never really liked these donation bowls, The idea is great, but the problem is that we the players do not see what the gold is being used for. I have donated to factions in the past, even factions I was in. But I have never seen the money spent in any way.
It would be nice if these donations would have some impact ig.
Perhaps make it like the Pallid mask divine slotmachine. Where you gain perks the more gold you donate, or rather the faction gain perks for every 5000 coins donated or something like that.
Hope that make sense.
I agree with Disco, it was annoying in the UD seeing gold disappearing for ever with no visible results when tbh it would be better donated just giving it to the Faction PCs. Seeing perks for the factions who get the most money would be fun imo, although it might make it seem to much like Battle of the Dragons.
I do agree, it was annoying in the UD seeing lots of gold given with no visible results when really it would be better spent just giving it to the PCs in the faction. Having a system with visible results would be pretty sweet, although might make it all too similar to Battle of the Dragons.
Yeah, that was an annoyance. However, there are some places where there aren't PCs to give shit for. I also don't expect someone to keep track of every five thousand gold and make some minor change to make stuff prettier.
If people don't want to donate, then don't. Seems easy to me.
Well, yeah, having them would be better than not having them if the DMs cannot be arsed to make an entire new system.
I always viewed these more as a way to promote certain actions .... like Paladin tithing. Easier to tithe by putting money in a donation bowl than simply dumping it in the trash. This way we can at least go back and check (it is recoreded, by the way).
Yeah, as much as I love throwing money into trash cans, I think this would be cooler, like those fat kids who have charts that show their progress to losing weight and what not.
you want a chart?
Yes
sure

Here you go. Pretty much purposely made it as annoying as possible by putting everything on one graph and making it black and white. If you want, you can pop it open in photoshop and match the hex colors together if you are itching to know what some of those lines are.
And sorry, the data only goes back to January 1st, 2007, on this.
Oh...What about something that says who has given the most gold and the amount they have given??
Well I can work microsoft paint and I think it's pretty interesting to know, so yeah
Doesn't change the fact I'd prefer donation bowls in EFU:A
Who wants to be stouthearts are #1 on that list?
House of light actually.
If anyone makes the chart readable, that'd be nice. and posts it.
cool suggestion derf don't know why dms are trying to troll it badly considering it's easy and beneficial
Nobody is trolling. Strife's whole point is that the info is almost entirely useless. It's meaningless to you guys and most of the info there isn't even relevant now on the surface.
Donate if you want to, don't if you don't want to. It's just something we can glance at for specific characters when we're curious.
I don't think it's meaningless for things relevant to our current setting. Even sparing the details it would certainly be nice for additional donation bowls to be set around the colony and to perhaps see the king's ransom in gold they take in put to a use ICly. Whenever the Stygians get 10k gold they can host tournaments or fix that leaky citadel - When the library gets a large sum it can be spent on expansion or whatever else. Things like that would give some motivation and reason to donate outside of "meh, do it if you feel like it but it doesn't really matter"
- We receive 3-4 apps/day to read.
- Read up on characters in their journal.
- Keep up on plot events.
- Try to update the world to represent current states... convos, etc.
- Keeping up on the finances, population of the colony on a day to day basis.
- Keeping up on the finances, population of EACH faction.
- Keeping up on the finances, influences, relations of EACH NPCs.
And this is like the stuff that's taken for granted...
Then, there is the time to prepare an area, prepare a quest, do write-ups for that quest in order to prepare for possible tangents explored by PCs, stick with the PC during their trial and error at finding where to go and what to do, do the actual quest, possess the NPCs. Do custom items for that quest. <-- That's the visible part.
I'm not sure if people understand how time consuming that is. Ideally, yes. I would like very much to look at donations to each group and do something to reflect what is being donated. You can always write in your character notes to remind the DMs. If it is tied to a personal goal, it would be -WAY- easier to update it than it is just random sims.
If it was all handled by a computer, it would be fine... but can it?
In summary,
Dont expect to donate 2k one day, and finding the area updated to reflect that donation the next. That's not realistic.
But do expect something if you donate frequently, remind the DMs of it through the character logs (if it is important to you) and attain a good sum.
i just want a bowl to throw coins into. antonin's suggestion is a little far-fetched, obv. fleetingheart i don't really think you even read the topic sorry
never said i wanted some inane module change every x coins, but more-so a self way to tracking it which sounds fairly simple. obviously it's made into a mountain out of a molehill, so i will desist in my absurd suggestion
Admittedly not every faction has bowls but there are several on the ziggurat.
more bowls please
Yes, just having a few more standard donation bowls for a few more factions would be good.
