The effect lasts forever, from what i can see. When i cast burning hands upon an inmortal palcable, it begins to comburst.. and never stops. I like this, since this way i can emote the whole room being on fire and all, but unfortunetly, after some time it beings to cause a lot of graphic lag...
Wich i dobut is desirable.
If the number of rounds the object/creature is reduced do, say 2 + 1 round per caster level, i dobut it will be noticeable by the players (how many monsters fail the reflex 6 times in a row?) and will stop this from happening while still allowing me to emote the room being on fire, wich is neat.
Just sayin'
I dont this it was intended to be permanent. Sometimes graphics "stick" though. Have you ever seen those people that are on fire (not taking damage) with combust after 5 minutes?
If it is permanent, I'd say this is a bug. >_>
It could be that static objects have no reflex saves? >_>
Eq is right about the reflex safe, but it should still wear off after 10 rounds + caster level though.

That is exactly the cause.
