Title: Wildshapes/polymorph Server Save Splat
Post by: TheImpossibleDream on March 13, 2010, 05:00:58 AM
This is an ancient bug though one I never noticed whilst using the Lycantrophy shifting system. When a druid is in form and the server saves their constitution reverts to their base race.

At low hp using shapes like bear or troll form this is instantly death. I've been as high as "Badly Wounded" before instantly loading the fugue screen in the past.

Is there any way to fix this yet? I've probably had a single death so far where a server save wasn't the reason I loaded the fugue plane.

Wow. I remember dying to this ages ago in early EfU. I had a low con druid, and it was lethal, just lethal.

Stopped me playing that character in frustration.

Fairly sure there is no fix to this. Alas!

Well. No easy fix. It would involve creating a new shifting system for druids that is similar to lycanthropy.

Can you apply the stat modifiers to the base form (as they are with spells like Bulls Strength) rather than to the hide of the alternate forms?

This would probably be worse. Since some forms give 12 and even more +stats depending on base race using them. They'd become rather feeble and unable to buff. Would also require a rework of the system and if that were to be done they'd be as well to use the lycan variant.

If they modify the base stat like Leto does (not sure if that's possible without relogging??) it would work well wouldn't it?

Anything with leto requires the player to log out and back in.

The problem is how the built in save function deals with polymorphed individuals. Sadly, polymorph includes wildshape in NWN. It forces the player out of the form, then re applies it inexpertly.

Lycanthropy is just a model change with a skin change applied at the same time, so no problem.

Why not give some healing every time a player un-ploymorphs?

This should all be fixed now.

Impressive. I vote all major bugs are resolved in this fashion.

Here is a flowchart to assist the process:

A) Impossible to fix.

....Occurred again- I was at 0 hp, then server saved, then I was loading fugue.

Of course, i was also surrounded my orcs who appeared to have stopped hitting me as well.
