Well, I've just ventured towards Neverwinter Nights RP after having taken an extended break/quit from WoW. I am incredibly excited about starting my new career in this seemingly(!) wonderful server/game/place/thing. Now I've done a brief introduction, I was wondering if someone could make me feel slightly more secure about the idea I have for my first character (best to see what people think before I jump headfirst in to it and get my face caved in, eh).
Just throw a little warning in here for people who'd rather find out in due time. So, here you are.
WARNING - Out of character infomation - Beware.
-------
Name: n/a
Class: Bard.
Race: Human.
General Theme: He's come to the islands in order to 'achieve' fame as a storyteller/bard by creating epic poems and stories of great heroes and adventurers - Being a bit of an amatuer adventurer himself. Although he seems to have had a little trouble back in his home where he sucessfully poised everyone who knew him against him, although it's doubtful he'll ever mention this, even to close friends. He seems friendly enough, but would do anything to get by - He's out for himself. Sure, he'll make friends along the way, but when push comes to shove, he'll save his own hide, preferably not hurting anyone in the process, but it wouldn't play too heavily on his conscience.
-------
Just to note this is very minimal currently as I'd like to know what the general feelings are towards such a character before I put too much time in to working out everything about him.
I look forward to roleplaying, and playing, with all of you! I hope to enjoy my stay here!
Welcome!
As a starting PC the one you have outlined sounds perfect. The server has a fair bit of healthy PVP and finding your way around with a more adventuring "neutral" PC, at first, is an excellent idea.
You can always move on to more challenging concepts in time.
helu
That's a fine concept. Go right ahead and jump!
Hello there. Enjoy your stay.
Hey and welcome!
Welcome
Welcome to efu
Hullo!
Thanks for the warm welcome, all! How should I start, so to speak? It's all quite overwhelming!
Welcome to Escaped from the Underdark: Archipelago, Thaedrin!
I'd recommend looking over the forums and the rules briefly, then create a character and explore. There are also several helpful pointers in the starter area.
Well.
I would suggest having a quick read on the story of the setting and maybe a glance at the mechanics changes just to familiarise yourself.
Then probably get IG and start interacting with people. On character creation I would suggest going for the option of starting as a vicitim of the Portal. Basically your PC was doing whatever they were doing and suddenly got dragged to the top of the Ziggurat by the portal.
That way you don't need to have any prior knowledge of where you are or whats going on!
Welcome!
You are very welcome. Don't get frustrated with the server when you find the environment challenging - stick with it and I promise you'll find it worth it.
Have fun!
Fifty gold he dies in the first hour.
Otherwise, have fun!
I'll be sure to screenie my first death and time it to prove you wrong, good sir! I'll just stand still for one hour, and then your precious money shall be mine for the taking!
Once again, thanks very much for the polite and helpful welcome replies! I have a feeling I'll like it here.
Welcome fellow Brit. Good bit of advice would be to join/idle the IRC channel.
If you are who I strongly suspect you to be, then welcome!
Even if you happen to be someone entirely different-... hello, nevertheless. You'll love it here, no doubt.
A Newcomer! Huzzah! Welcome to the island.
Welcome!!
Welcome to the Underd-
I mean Ziggurat.
Watch out for the kobolds.
; )
Hello.
(Don't know if AKMatt counts as a kobold or not)

It is indeed I! My copy of Neverwinter should arrive today. I'll install it when I arrive home, then be in game probably failing horribly.
If it's any consolation, you can't do much worse than Helena "DROWNING MECHANICS??? WHAT DROWNING MECHAN - GLUG GLUG GLUG........" Cadogan.
