Alright,
I completed the Book Quest that is for Arcanists only, and is a one-time only quest. My first complaint is that for about an hours worth of wandering around in places that no Wizard should try to be alone, you get a mere ~100 xp. When compared to a notable rogue-ish quest that can get you upwards of 800 for 5 minutes of effort, and which can be done 5 times, something seems a bit off.
Secondly, having completed this quest and the associated ritual, I chose the Upper Planes summoning theme. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but according to everything I've read, the Upper Planes are the planes of good. So why is the Summon 1 a shadow hound (which says in its description that it typically aids devils), and summon 2 a Dretch (again noted in its description as a Tanar'i). Is the theme messed up? Not sure how I've ended up summoning demons and servants of devils. Havent seen what summon 3 is yet, I'll keep you posted once I make the level.
Sounds like your on the abyssal theme, not upper plains. I also did agree that the xp reward was low for a one shot only quest but the other rewards are very nice, or can be! You also gain access to some things that normally you cannot.
