Title: Orc quest reward
Post by: Goblin Butcher on October 07, 2008, 06:18:01 AM
Considering the difficulty of this quest I believe it merits the reward be increased dramatically. Did it last night ended up down 19 serious healing potions about 400 gold worth of potions on top of that and earned 79gp and 6 cure serious wounds potions as well as assorted junk, nothing worthwhile really. This quest badly needs its reward adjusted to match challenge (or challenge adjusted to match reward, preferably the former)

Agreed.

I thought it was incredibly fun.  Loved the waves of nasty orcies but the rewards were very paltry.

The real problem is the near double digit numbers of shamans that cast combust and fireballs from a distance, necessitating massive healing supply drain.

Mebbe less shamans so the meleers can hold their own, or more rewards - particularly potions and a few awesome treasure drops?

The Duergar clan quest was similar to this but usually spawned some hawt lootz.

I dont intend to boost quest reward. Your opinion will change as you do the quest several times. Reward sometimes rock or sometimes not. It is random but I can assure you that is far from mediocre. Plus there are other unseen benefits to doing the quest which became available yesterday.

I guess it's just a bit like russian roulette with five bullets in the chamber instead of one, since you can easily end up losing everything (if you get overran, there's no getting to the corpses), but in turn, you can also win, and stay alive..

Dramatic. I hear the world's smallest violin playing in the background.

Mort is correct, the reward is in fact fine. Quest just takes some luck/getting used to. Last time I did this I barely used half of what I used to use. Also I've seen there are quite a few good items that can drop.

After doing this quest a few times, I'm convinced the reward is fine. The way the treasure system works means you can merely get unlucky at times with what drops. And irregardless, I don't think every quest should dish out huge consumable/gold gains. The best part though is that the loot on this quest is very flavorful.

On the other hand, Vradzn needs to be toned down immediately.

Should be fixed.
