Title: Firefly/Serenity NWN Campaign: Into The Black

So, who thinks a campaign in NWN involving spaceships, Browncoats, six-shooters and crazy psychics would be an interesting change of pace from swords n' sorcery? Or likes the idea of stepping into Jayne's badassed, Vera-toting boots? If you don't know what Firefly is, I'm going to assume you've been hiding under a rock for most of the last decade, then point you at this link (//%22http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29%22) with a despairing look ;). The setting is a single star system with a large number of planets of varying culture. with technology ranging from 19th Century American Frontier to Blade Runner-esque. You'd play one of a crew of free traders/smugglers/similar with their own freighter, looking for jobs, trying to avoid attention from the law, crooks, whatever enemies turn up along the way. And of course the cannibalistic space pirates. Did I mention the cannibalistic space pirates? They're called Reavers. They're scary. There's a system-wide government that forcibly unified the plantets under a decade ago, and a large number of disgruntled ex-soldiers who fought for planets wanting to remain independent.

Since I found out that there's a Firefly mod for NWN (//%22http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=4030%22), I've been wanting to run a campaign set in the 'Verse. I plan to start it properly in a few weeks once I've moved house, but might do an intro session or two before then. So far I have Equinox interested and maybe Porkolt. We'd need a minimum of 3 PCs for a crew (Pilot, Medic, Engineer), but preferably 5 or so (Captain, Pilot, Engineer, Medic, Muscle). It would be best if you were close to GMT times as we really need all players for most sessions by the nature of the campaign.

The campaign would not be using the crew of Serenity, but a novel crew with their own Firefly-Class Transport. The background and classes of your PCs are up to you, but since it's a ship's crew, certain roles are going to have to be there. You know egon, i am intrested. However, i dobut i'd be able to attend the sessions, though that's not certian. You'd have to tell me when exatly are this things planned.

Yeah, I noticed after searching for more info on the Nightfire Campaign system used. How did I miss that? :(

Dunno, it was fun for a while, but collapsed due to various issues.

One thing to be careful of is the Captain ends up just doing most of the talking, and combat ends up being quick and one sided often with no real skill involved

Need to make NPCs disarmable imho.

That way, my guy running around with a knife in the middle of the gun fights would have been more tactical and less completely apeshit.

If you actually are interested and doing this and play in my timezone though, I could be bothered to play a couple sessions with you bro.
