Today I was exploring the server, and came across something I hadn't seen before - The Forgotten Forest. An area that filled me with anticipation, anxiety (both positive and negative), confusion and bewilderment all at once. I've wandered that place for close to 2 hours, lost a good 3/4th of the time, and then fooling myself that I wasn't for another 1/4th. An area that simply breathes mysticism, magic, perhaps the very essence the island of Ymph thrives on. I would like to thank the DMs for creating the area, and for all the time and effort they must have put into its creation.
DangerousDan deserves the entirety of this credit. Expect more of the Forgotten Forest in the future!
Yes. This Forest is simply AMAZING
It's coolio.
Hey! You wandered into the very place Kahuu was supposed to take you. Spoiler! :P
It's a very good area!
There's a lot of interesting places in our setting that are difficult to get to but very worth visiting, I encourage players to explore with their PCs and take a break from the snakes-harpies-orcs quest trains from time to time :-)
Always love these kinds of mega-ambient areas. The Forest and beyond is possibly my #1 area I've visited on the server so far.
Always worth the venture!!! Props to Dan!
Places like this are the reason I heavily recommend stealth and academic PCs to new players to the server. There's so much to see and find out about if you have a way to get about unseen, and Open Lock or Search.
It's also the reason I dislike the decision a while back to spam invis dispel placeables all over the place under the Mountains. Casters invis running is as legitimate an exploration method as stealthing. I don't think that locking off the way into and out of a good section of the server is a great plan in that regard, especially as the sort of PCs researching odd mysteries and plots tend to be wizards.
I've yet to see the forest and once hit 7 I plan too! So far the Way is my favourite area, it just looks beautiful, and then you get wtf pwned lol Awesome!
The Forgotten Forest is one of the most amazing places to visit, I spent a great deal of time there on my Druid and really enjoyed how honestly creepy and wonderful it is.

Gives wizards a reason to hire rogues to do what they're so good at!

Aside from the OOC benefits of getting to hang out with more people when exploring, you can assume those placeables are there due to IC reasons. Such as the locals don't appreciate trespassers and are capable of creating these sorts of defenses.
I would think it's more fun to explore these areas as part of a group, rather than as an invisible running wizard.
It's more fun to explore the areas than not to. Often you can't (or it isn't bright to) recruit a team as a lot of these areas need a good team that doesn't mind burning supplies to kill the spawns. Exploring on your own is also good when the server's low on PCs your char can interact with, and you want to play some EfU:A.
Why is a stealth PC supposed to have it easier than one using invisibility and having to plan ahead, scout out camps to rest in, and work out their effective range? They're also exploring alone. It even sounds like most replies here are from players who found this on stealth characters while wandering. I know I did. If "don't explore here solo" is the case, throw in some noise-making stealth killer traps too so there's areas where you can't explore via stealth and have to persuade someone to invis you, or get a team.
