Title: Alchemist's Fire Elements
Post by: Canzah on June 09, 2010, 08:23:43 PM
A thought popped up in my mind.

Why not create items that work just like alchemist's fire, except with different elements? That being acid, cold and lightning instead of the basic fire.

These things could even make for an interesting and worthwhile addition to the alchemy/herbalism system.

(If it's not much of a hassle of course.)

At least one of the ones you just mentioned already exists. <_<

See, that's the problem with making suggestions when you're aren't up to date on the module. <_<

I think he means to apply to a blade, at least I hope so; otherwise that would be just a boring/dull suggestion.

Yeah, Alchemy seems a bit underused compared to Herbalism, which has a lot of fairly simple recipes about.

Alchemy has several very simple recipies about. And it is used for necromancers too.

No, "EFUSS Alchemy" is used as part of the animation upgrade skillcheck. The actual mechanism of alchemy seems to swing between really obscure powerful recipes and the minor simple ones. It'd be nice to see more on the mid-range grenadelikes. Flashpowder, Laughing Gas etc. Even for wizards and sorcs, Herbalism has the most wanted recipes of potions.

Having a selection of stuff like "Icedust Bombs", "Ooze Enzyme" and "Bottled Thunder" you can use for a weapon or for throwing would give a temporary way to exploit creature weaknesses, for example on the demon invasion, or to use a characterful consumable for non casters.

By recipes i meant actual recipe drops that act as hints and give direction to alchemy, not just spamming combinations. That wasn't very clear though.
