Title: S.O.S. - Problem with new computer
Post by: Lansert on October 15, 2008, 02:14:29 AM
So...got a new computer and all, and I have a little problem.  When I try playing NWN on it, it won't let me.  Just won't even try.  The problem my computer tells me is that this version of the game is not supported by this version of windows I have.  I have Windows Vista SP1 so you know.  And until I can get it working , if at all possible, I'll be stuck with my old and crappy computer.

I tried going to the Atari website for help and it has no section for Vista users.  In my defense I didn't choice Vista, it was the only software available.

Please help me!

Right click the NWN icon in the NWN folder, click "Run as administrator" and choose the option to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2.

Should fix you up.

If that doesnt work, you can use VMware to emulate XP, at the cost of 10-20% of your speed.

Or, alternatively, you can
Downgrade to XP  (//%22http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2287685,00.asp%22)
or
Upgrade to Linux (//%22http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm%22)

I can't do anything on my own with software, which is really embarrassing for me, how do I get a VMware XP Emulator?

First you need to grab VMware:
http://www.vmware.com/

Setting it up with XP is much like setting it up with any other OS, but here is a guide I found:
